People criticize the Power Wagons low towing capacity compared to other 3/4 ton trucks. It is definitely lower, only 10,000lbs, but I can tell you as a PW owner and a rancher in Montana, that this truck will haul that 10,000 lbs places where no other truck could dream of. Moving hay and equipment in the winter in Montana, over snowy, muddy roads and mountainous terrain is nearly impossible except with a tractor. When you put the PW in 4 low, and lock the front and rear axles, that’s what you have, a tractor, except with heat and comfortable seats. No other 3/4 ton truck can compete with that. That 8,000 lbs of hay is going to get to exactly where you need it to go.
So ironic. I literally just looked at one of these and test drove it the other day. I used to own a 2014 Tradesman Power wagon. It was discounted and I bought it for $39k! Now they have the 8 spd auto, black wheels, black bumpers. Just wish they put at least the 5” screen so you can have Apple car play. The one I drove had the “work grade” vinyl seats and rubber floor. It was heavily discounted too!
These trucks have been available for years, why dealers are suddenly ordering them is unknown to me. I ordered one in 2019 and when I did the dealer was unaware it was even possible, and there were only like 4 on dealer lots in the entire US. I traded it last year on a Wagoneer. I'm about to take delivery out of dealer stock on a 2024 Tradesman PW to replace my Gladiator and there are at least 10 of them on lots or in transit within 150 miles. As mentioned this is a very high value performance package, good on dealers figuring it out (or Ram figuring it out and producing more)
I got my tradesman power wagon on sale for 53,549, sticker price was 64, Traded my 22 tundra for it. Win win win for me No tip, just a thank you and good bye.
I've always liked Ram's cloth interior best. Shame it didn't have a trailer brake controller. I also thought the 8.4 display was standard. Didn't realize they still had the credit card size one. Bed line that puppy and I'd gladly take it
My 2015 Tradesman PW has trailer brake controller, which is one of the reasons I bought it. I still have it and it’s running strong with only minor issues since I bought it in 2019. I got super lucky, as it only had 3,222 miles on it when I bought it! Love my PW!😎👍🇺🇸
I have a 22 PowerTradesman and love it, gonna keep it until it dies. BUT everything is too expensive now: I got almost every option (including the 12" screen, bedliner, weather mats, etc) and I think I was OTD ~54k, now 2 years later you get less for more 8k more...
Thank you for doing this review. If I were going to trade my Ram 3500 in on another truck this would be the one. Did it have the rubber floor mats? Now you can use the garden hose to wash it out.
61k for a work truck with a big 6.4L V8, no frills, cloth seats, and only the necessary off road kit? Sounds great! The price is just a little too high, but it's cheaper than I thought it would be.
I don’t agree with today’s pricing on everything but if you’re interested in this truck, go test drive one. I’ve driven many makes and models but I really love my 3/4 ton Ram!
Have you noticed any of the new ram 1500s shifting rough or jerky? What about pulling to the right? I’m 2/2 and frankly disappointed with my new bighorn.
Like you said apples to oranges. The f150 is comfortable and feels more like riding in a car. The Ram 3/4 ton is a beast! It’s got tons of power and drives and handles like a truck. Love my Ram!
Unless I missed it, I didn't hear you mention what gear ratio this vehicle was and is there any other engine availability? I do like this truck , be nice if you could get it with 8ft bed with spray liner, generator system and goose neck tow hitch. Also that truck is screaming for at least a 35 inch tire. Love Your reviews Ben I've seen a few , your straight forward and very informative.
Seeing that screen makes me feel spoiled with what the Frontier offers. I'm sure that Ram could make it bigger to make the tech-inclined happier but that means upping the price and thus stepping into non-basic territory. As long as it has the needed functions then people looking to get a Power Wagon aren't going to care if it's a big fancy screen or not, and that's the important part.
That's why Chevy is killing it with the Custom Trail Boss. 2 inch lift, off road worthy everything you need nothin you don't all for around 50K. Love my 2019.
This truck is confused. A 3/4 ton truck doesn't make a great off roader. A 3/4 ton truck with only 1500 lb payload doesn't make a great 3/4 ton truck. But, as an owner of an older powerwagon, i still love it!
@@davidporter7051 just because things cost that much doesn’t make it not ridiculous. People like you who are fine with everything skyrocketing in price are the reason it’s gonna continue.
@@yamahaguy1732 not at all unlike you I can use my thinking cap. You are not and it's distributing. You are speaking like an ignorant socialist. Wow, engine bay looks like the poster child for lot rot. The bilstein shocks are off a power wheels 😂 and it’s OVER $60,000 - I’ll take two @ that price.

@BrianEugeneLee-FJCruiserit's not worth it. Cummins is now going to make a gas engine because so
Except on cold start up. Strange exhaust manifold “tinging”.

you can option a 8.4 uconnect for 800$
I came so close to ordering one of these! But the dealers around here are still playing games. I ordered a Ford F250 XL Off Road instead.

I suspect It's because they are having a lot of trouble moving $80k trucks meant for off-roading. This truck makes way more sense to people.
Sleepers should be a package
Jeep needs to do this with their Rubicon model. Make a true affordable off road machine.
It’s really too cheap. You could tip your salesman 1,000 or 1,500 bucks so you don’t feel like you stole it.
