Jason, I was hoping you didn’t trash it because at the end of August I bought one. 😃 2024 Tradesmen with the PW package. Mine is red and has different options (I think better options). Screen is smaller 8.4” but with Navigation and Apple Car Play, 115V in cab and in the bed, same bed utility group that gives you the bed liner, AC dual zone (kind of useless), 220 Amp alternator, power heat, fold and telescoping mirrors (kind of nice because you can shrink the width with a click of a button), trailer brake controller and blind spot monitoring (might be useful one day). With the $8k PW package there are $15k options for $67k MSRP. I paid $1k for these options and got the truck for $53k plus taxes and $600 doc fee. I had to search nationwide and had to travel 1,400 miles to get it. Drove it home. Originally I was looking at Gladiators, ZR2s and Ranger Raptors. I was pretty settled on the Gladiator and wanted to axle swap it to beef it up for larger tires. I have an axle swapped Wrangler so I knew what it took. I knew about the Tradesman with PW package but years ago when I looked into it they didn’t offer the option on the online configurator. Maybe because of the public health $hit $how going on. Learned that the option is available again from your video actually. Thanks! So I looked into it too. I did the math and looked at the engineering of these and realized that the Tradesmen with the PW is practically a 1-ton axle AND V8 HEMI swapped Gladiator for less than half the price and with factory warranty. People are paying $120k+ for doing these swaps and here that is for $53k. I didn’t want the HEMI swap but it’s a nice bonus. 😃 Even without the HEMI swap the 1-ton axle swap would have cost $70k if I buy a Gladiator Sport (manual crank windows, manual transmission and soft top) $35k plus the axles $20k plus steel bumpers and winch plus labor. About $80k if I get the same features in the Gladiator like power windows as in the RAM. I am fortunate that at this point in my life I can buy nicer vehicles but I still prefer that they offer value so for me the Tradesmen with PW package was a no brainer over a Gladiator. A few corrections. Steering wheel tilts but doesn’t telescope. Floor bins not RAM boxes. The RAM boxes are in the side of the bed. They are optional and neither this truck in the video nor mine have them. They are nice but absolutely limit what tonneau cover, rack or top you can install. For example, there is NO hardtop for RAM boxed trucks in the US. Australia has one option. In the US there are one soft top that I found. The floor bins can be added at home. The holes are in the floor under the carpet with a glued in steel plate covering them. You cut the glue and slide in the bins and four screws fix them to the floor. They use 33-inch tires because that’s the largest to fit under the bed. I will put the larger spare in the bed on a spare holder. There are two companies making them. My truck has 1,550 pounds payload. I saw owner reviews about that. Yes, officially it’s 1,550 pounds but if you put 3,000 pounds in the bed it will be fine. It just rides on the bump stops. Axles, wheels, tires, frame and brakes are the same as in a normal 2500 RAM. Obviously, I would not cross country it with overweight payload but occasionally it’s fine. In my truck I will do a seat delete and that will give a huge rear cargo area. Can be done on the cheap. I counted 8 bolts holding the seat and the seatbelt harnesses to the floor. Then a piece of plywood makes it a flat floor.
I moved from a 12 JK to a 21 PW and love it. I live in Northern California so I off road it in the Sierra Mountains. For me one downside to the PW is the size (cannot avoid pinstriping and limits the trails you can go on (no Rubicon for the PW)), but the plus side is the size as well. The PW is way more comfortabler than a Wrangler/Gladiator. I can use the PW to do truck stuff and for long trips. I beat up my PW pretty good on the trails and every time I get back on the freeway it's smooth, straight, and quiet. By the way, UA-cam called... you just set a record for the longest comment.
Love this truck and all the Info in this comment. I know the ram boxes are for the bed, but after having the floor bins in my 2019 I always called them ram boxes. So my wife knew where I put things. "Driver side ram box" etc. I'm so happy to hear I don't have to cut it floor to add them. I think they are a must have. I loved them in my 2019 and the extra storage in the floor was worth it's weight in gold. Love the deal you got as well. Exactly what I assumed would be do able. Love everything in this comment. I'm going to pin this comment to the top. So mich great Info.
@Jason… Thanks. It wasn’t even hard work to get the deal. Some people with more patience would probably get a better one. It took the whole thing about two hours on the phone and texting back and forth. I found another dealer advertising them for $48k. Total base model. Only option was PW package and color. Vinyl seats etc. I was ok with it but after some half day of BS-ing they said $48k only if I finance it no cash purchase and finance through them.
I ordered my 2021 Power Wagon. 50,000 miles now and still love it. With some good recovery gear it’ll make you money. Word of caution: the plastic trans pan on the 8HP75 is exposed. A stick punched a hole in mine. Dethloff Mfg makes a quality skid plate to fix that.
I had to have the surround camera system on my Power Wagon or it was a no go. I am glad I waited and got one with the cameras. I have used them several times in the wild and it reassures my wife when I pull them up off road.

I just bought a 2024 Ram 2500 Trsdesman with the Power Wagon option and totally love it! By far it is the best truck I have ever owned! Solid front axle, sway bar disconnect, front and rear lockers, 4:10 gears. My only 2 dislikes are no stereo controls on the steering wheel and no LED headlights. The LED Headlights I can fix though with Morimoto’s. With the stereo, I listen to music on my phone so I’ll manage.
Appreciate the effort and the time it took to make the video. It was good to see a video on one. I think they’re asking too much money though like you said. When I see things like nitrogen filled tires that to turn off as well lol. I bought my 2023 Power Wagon which has the inside of a Laramie for 73,000 when it had an MSRP of 79,000 in August of last year. And I would expect to get a better deal these days. I want to put 35s on mine but I haven’t seen a good way to change the odometer or speedometer. Also, some people complain about shift points now being off. The way it works right now is flawless so I might leave it as is even though it would be nice to have 35s.
I paid 42,000 for mine in 2020 new off the lot I was looking at the regular power wagon that was running 60 to 70,000. I cannot believe they want $70,000 for this truck. When I went to build one online it ended up being 57,000 with less options. 42,000 was a steal. They finished it at the end of November 2020 it was put on the lot December 2020 I bought it in March 2021.
I was looking at these (I’ve owned one before, 2014 Tradesman Power Wagon) but I ended up finding it lightly used 2022 Power Wagon Level 2 with only 25k miles, for just $55k. I was able to talk them down to $52k and some change. Its so much more loaded than a Tradesman. I like the leather seats and the LED headlights. It also says “power wagon”, which is a plus. When I had my 2014 Tradesman, it was difficult providing to people that it was an actual “Power Wagon.” Which became a big deal when it came time to trade. Dealers would only want to give me standard 2500 tradesman values for it. Just something to consider. I like that they still offer these. I wish they’d price it lower though. My 2014 tradesman I bought for just $39k! ($44k msrp). And it was the same basic truck, except with the 6 spd instead of 8spd.
New to your channel. Thanks for doing an extensive review of going over this truck I really appreciate it. I found your channel a couple days ago I subscribed. I like how you do your reviews you're very honest you really tell the truth and how it is and that's why I subscribed. Keep up the good work. Actually I like this truck it's pretty much what I'm looking for I don't really care about leather seats myself. There's a place near me not too far from me here in Southern California and they actually make seat covers that are made of wetsuit material. I've had them on my 2011 HD 2500 Chevy 4x4 Z71 and they're still holding up, no wear and tear on them whatsoever. These are custom to order and the factory is only about 20 minutes away from me. They've been in business for at least 20 years or more. They're pricey but they last the test of time then buying cheap ones in your local Walmart or other retail store . One thing I like about hard plastic door panels and interior is that it's easier to keep clean and you don't have to worry about staining like you do with cloth door panels. They make a lot of good plastic cleaners nowadays that don't leave residue like the old school armor All did and it cleans the plastic without giving it that gloss shine to it. This is something that I'll be looking for and hopefully they'll be some tradesmen's like this in my area I will look into it. Again thanks for putting out the video I love your extensive reviews.👍
Dethloff mfg. makes a front skid plate that covers the transfer case and transmission, the one place Ram missed on these trucks. Godz mfg also makes a milder aluminum skid plate.
Or you can do what I did, look for a lightly used near new Power Wagon and let the original purchaser take the hit for the depreciation. I recently bought a 2022 Level 2 optioned PW with only 17,000 miles on it for $59k which included $30k in after market upgrades. There are lots out there, I looked at about half a dozen before I found the one I eventually bought. Once you have the 360 degree cameras and trailer towing technology package you'll wonder how you ever did without them. The hill descent is super useful too.
Nice looking and very capable truck. Does look silly with the 33’s on it. Get rid off the tv screen in the dash, some of the other add ons and put at least 35’s on it. Thanks for the review!
That is the version I would buy would be the tradesman with the power wagon package those backseats are easy to modify so they can drop I have a 1500 tradesman I have the storage boxes in the floor
My LV2 24 Power Wagon (every option except 360 degree cameras/front camera) had a sticker of 88k (purchased it in march) even after incentives it was not cheap - i also added the amp research steps (with how tall these things are - if you are shorter like me you will NEED steps) i was at around 80k still - which i'll never do again. It's the next step up after a Jeep. I am thinking about selling it - but odds are I will keep it for the long haul. My main concern is with lifter failure on the Hemi's - if that ever happens i'd look into a Cummins swap.
@joewolfe642 put an extended warranty on it and then no worries about anything. Such an amazing truck. And lifter issue is not as common as the internet makes it out to be
The lifter issue with Hemis is HUGELY overblown. Less than 5% of Ram trucks have this issue and most of those are caused by the same two things: excessive prolonged idling and infrequent maintenance. Just because every UA-cam Yapper seems to want to do a video on the lifter failure doesn't mean every hemi is in incipient failure mode.
@@Jason-Samko That's really good information. I have not test driven a Tradesman but I have test driven the Ford and Chevy work trucks. Both were too low for me, especially the Silverado 2500 WT. I will have to go test drive the Tradesman.
I like to have 6 - passenger seating in my trucks & what Ram offers with the center console sure stomps Ford. My F150XL console sucks compared to this !
You know what is really sad is that it only has around 1500lbs of payload - my Honda ridgeline matches that lol. And towing is only around 10k lbs or so - although with airbags (or stiffer rear springs) I am sure it can be bumped up significantly to match or beat the standard 2500 - it does ride like a cushy pillow - although solid axle will make for a jarring ride on rough/rutted roads - driving through Canada and through the Alcan was almost teeth chattering - but for most people you will never experience that on most roads - it is an absolute monster offroad though.
From manufacturers you can't have both payload and off road suspension. Same for towing and off road suspension. The soft high suspension won't pass requirements.
It's a function of the soft suspension designed for off-road use. As Jason says you can't have both. It's physics. You can certainly buy a 3,500 HD 4x4 with huge payload but it's going to ride very stiff, especially off-road. Wheel size makes a big difference too. Off-road trucks ride and function much better with small wheels coupled with tires with more sidewall. 20" and 22" wheels might look cool but they're going to ride worse off-pavement than a 17". If you buy a HD that stays on pavement 20" and larger wheels are more tolerable but still won't be as comfortable as the 17" wheel that's on the Power Wagon, Ford Tremor, and the new GM off-road HD's. But the Power Wagon is going to have the softest ride of all the brands when it comes to off-road HD's. It's rear coil suspension is in a class of it's own.
If you want higher payload buy a Rebel HD. No front locker or sway bar disconnect but Cummins is possible (although that engine will sink it in mud or stops it at some rocks because of the weight).
The damn power wagon chirp. I can hear it on mine, only 17,000 miles. Hear it in every video. There's no fix and it doesn't go completely away when the motor warms up like everyone says. It's hard to get past at the price of that truck. Embarrassing
@@dantimber there is a chirp that comes with the 6.4 hemi. Some non-power wagons but most every power wagon. It has been speculated to be a loose exhaust manifold bolt. It has been decided it is a valve inside the driver side exhaust that once it heats up it seats properly it stop squeaking. However, mine chirps intermittently whether I drive it for 30 or 40 minutes and pull up to a drive-thru or sometimes I can drive it for 5 min and it goes away and then comes back 15 minutes later. If you listen closely in this video you can hear what sounds like a pulley or a belt chirping. If you're ever around a power wagon in person, go to the driver side underneath the drivers door or even in the driver side steer tire wheel well and you will hear a noticeable chirp chirp chirp chirp chirp chirp consistently. Happens with brand new trucks that have 10 mi on them and it happens with trucks with 50,000 mi on them.
@musclesmouse yes color choices just like the other ram 2500 tradesman trucks. This dealer just loves to order black ones I guess. But they have a grey one I showed in the video too
See the website. White, red, dark red, dark blue, silver, dark gray, and black. There are an additional 14 'low volume' colors available although that may only be for the Tradesman without the Power Wagon option. Businesses often order these to make their vehicle stand out from the crowd.
I guess it's cool but I'm getting tired of Ram just playing musical chairs with options and configurations that have been stale for years. They need an actual refresh/redesign or they're gonna fall off the map (they kind of are already). Also, that payload still sucks, especially for a Tradesman.

That same frame is used with the TRX, but shortened to the length of a 1500
Good to know! Information I did not know and now do. Appreciated
you can definitely find these optioned just like this with dealer discounts for under 55k.
@@petecasberg8655 makes it such a smokin deal
What’s it getting for mpgs
@paulviola4582 don't remeber, but do know it's not good..lol. I would not buy it for mpgs.
I'm 5'10". Would the driver's seat be high enough or is it adjustable for height?
@dantimber I'm only 5'6 and no worries and my wife is only 5'3 and she used our 2019 ram 2500 as a daily driver for 3 years and loved it
@@Jason-Samko That's really good information. I have not test driven a Tradesman but I have test driven the Ford and Chevy work trucks. Both were too low for me, especially the Silverado 2500 WT. I will have to go test drive the Tradesman.
@dantimber this is o e very impressive truck. Just needs bigger tires and good to go
Awesome. You just need the hood for real.
So they're still using the 6.4 hemi? I thought they went to the hurricane.
@@Whiskeybende hemi in the 2500 3500. Hurricane in the 1500
I like to have 6 - passenger seating in my trucks & what Ram offers with the center console sure stomps Ford. My F150XL console sucks compared to this !
Ram sure can do a great interior
Great truck...I just hate how those 2500/3500s drive....I need a chiropractor after an hour. Maybe they have gotten smoother I don't know.
These trucks drive smooth and surprisingly soft.
Agree.
The 2500 has coil springs in the rear and the powerwagon suspension is super soft.
@@dantimber 100% spot on
If you want higher payload buy a Rebel HD. No front locker or sway bar disconnect but Cummins is possible (although that engine will sink it in mud or stops it at some rocks because of the weight).
@@is6566 wish they would put a front locker on both rebel lines
Definitely a lot of value for the money get that thing cheaper than Tacoma🤣
Agree. Alot of truck for the money. Especially with how you can negotiate ram
Yes, that was definitely a good find when you put that one together if I needed a full-size truck, that would be the one
@@dominica2765 me too. Would be my first choice in a full or hd
Keep up the good work
You could get the tradesman eith the powerwagon package for decades now lol its not really a new or unknown thing
If I didnt know It many others didnt know it.
I would buy it for 50k all day long
I bought my power wagon in 23 brand new for 72k loaded not sure I would pay 70 for this truck
This truck could be bought in the 50k range all day regardless
Ill give them 57K for that truck right now.
Call em and see if they will. Time of year is perfect for deals
The damn power wagon chirp. I can hear it on mine, only 17,000 miles. Hear it in every video. There's no fix and it doesn't go completely away when the motor warms up like everyone says. It's hard to get past at the price of that truck. Embarrassing
Can you explain?
Only in black? No color choice.
@musclesmouse yes color choices just like the other ram 2500 tradesman trucks. This dealer just loves to order black ones I guess. But they have a grey one I showed in the video too
@@Jason-Samko I just saw the end where you looked at them close up. From far away they looked like all black
See the website. White, red, dark red, dark blue, silver, dark gray, and black. There are an additional 14 'low volume' colors available although that may only be for the Tradesman without the Power Wagon option. Businesses often order these to make their vehicle stand out from the crowd.
@@dantimber great info
I guess it's cool but I'm getting tired of Ram just playing musical chairs with options and configurations that have been stale for years. They need an actual refresh/redesign or they're gonna fall off the map (they kind of are already).
Also, that payload still sucks, especially for a Tradesman.
it's a Power Wagon. It's not built for payload it's built for off-road capability. Ram is stale and the refresh hasn't helped with the 1500.
The low payload/towing on the Tradesman is only on the Power Wagon option. The standard Tradesman is similar to Ford and Chevy HD's
It can’t handle a snow plow it’s not for me
Lmfao, Iv used it to plow snow more than once 🤣
