  • This is literally the first thing I taught peach at 8 weeks old. Generally speaking you want to use low value rewards and make sure the dog is totally comfortable with each step before proceeding to the next.

    my puppy is a month old and he hates being in the kennel but what helped is I get him tired before putting him in the kennel and when I see that he wakes up I open the door so he can know that he doesn’t need to bark in order for me to open it. Once older I will train him to do the rest.

      That is great progress and wearing your dog out before going into the crate is always a must!

      @@ImpactDogCrates oh definitely also I let him sleep on the floor for a while so when I carry him and put him inside the kennel he will be to sleepy to even care that he’s inside.

    Thank you for this simple step by step. I have an 8 week old Belgian Mal also and have been crate training her with success until I went away for 2 days and came back to finding out the person watching her never put her in her crate once. So now back to the beginning.

    When you’re at the point that you’re treating through the door of the crate, do you only treat once, then open the door and let them out, and then treat again once they go back in and close the door? Or do you sit in front and treat repeatedly with the door closed? This is the point I’m at with my 2 year old Dutch shepherd and that’s where I’m stuck

    Do you reward with treats or regular food for a nine month old puppy?

    • @ImpactDogCrates
      @ImpactDogCrates  9 місяців тому +1

      That is a personal preference although a lot of folks find great success in using food and training during their regular eating times!

    I can't do this with my impact crate. I don't have the door with the bars. I have the vent holes in the front. My 5 month old Giant Schnauzer Pup was doing fine but now he won't go in the crate unless it's meal time.

    Which is better, a crate or a playpen? Or are they fairly the same? I have a 3 month old toy poodle. Thank you!❤

    • @ImpactDogCrates
      @ImpactDogCrates  Рік тому +1

      That is a bit of a subjective question. However a playpen may provide enough space for a dog to go to the bathroom and move away from it so it might be trickier to potty train. A crate will be more versatile though allowing you to utilize it in a vehicle setting making traveling much safer.

    I want your crate! I don’t like the plastic ones. I currently use wire but the staffy I’m fostering broke through it. luckily he was ok. He had no prior issues with the crate. I have another crate that is much stronger but hard to move. A bit too small for him. Hopefully I’ll be able to invest in a few in the near future!!! ❤️🙏🏼💜

    what size high anxiety crate should i get for a 75 lb malinois? should i go with the 40 inch tall and wide or 48 inch? not concern about the cost difference. Thank you!

    • @ImpactDogCrates
      @ImpactDogCrates  Рік тому +2

      Great question, generally speaking we will see this breed in our standard 40" at the weight you mentioned. The 48" is usually meant for a 150 lb Mastiff. A good rule of thumb is having enough space for them to go in turn around and lay down.

      Buy your dog from a breeder as a puppy, raise it right so it won't develop separation anxiety so you would not have to buy this. Shelter dogs are full of behavior issues.

    I recently bought a dog house for my rescued dog. But she's super fearful of everything new and refuse to go near it. I've tried putting treats and her toys in it, I put her dog bowl near it and she just won't go near it. Any ideas?

    why do you have a dog if you are going to incarcerate it? You do know this amazing being would fight to the death to protect you, right? It loves you unconditionally too. Yet here you are jailing it like some criminal. You make me sick. you cannot call yourselves dog lovers.

      You say that but you're gonna complain when you get home to your house destroyed and pee and poop on the floor from your puppy. Crate training is needed and useful, not only does it give the dog a safe space to go into, it also keeps the dog safe and out of trouble. Stop being dramatic

    • @gigiatkins5923

      You clearly know NOTHING about dogs.

    • @adriana7310
      @adriana7310 3 місяці тому

      Do you let your children sleep on the floor? Im sure everyone in your household sleeps at night in their room with their doors closed. That is not a "prison". The crate is the dogs safe space, it is their comfort and private bedroom space. When my dog doesnt have access to his crate/comfort place he gets visibly upset.
      Please dont ever get a dog esp. a breed like this! The fact that you cant read the dogs body language and see how comfortable he is in there w/ his bully stick, is a big red flag. Youre the kind of dog parent that gets a dog, spoils it, does no training and then either
      A) Come to a trainer when the dog is 1yr old and expect trainers like myself to "fix" your dog (ofc all while criticizing our methods and telling us how much more you know about dogs, and not taking any responsibility for your role in your dogs bad behavior🙄)
      OR
      B) Your unruly dog inevitably bites you or someone else, you claim "it was unpredictable and out of the blue" and your dog gets put down, and loses their life over your irresponsibility as a dog owner. People like you have 0 education about dogs, think youre a "friend to all the animals" , yet don't know how to communicate with them or read their body language...thus leading to these claims of the dog being "unpredictable" and "dangerous".
      Ppl like you disgust me. Training saves lives, while ppl like you harm dogs and take no responsibility for it. Do us all a favor, don't ever get a dog.

      It is good for dogs to have crate training in case they have to stay for long periods at the vet, if you travel, if you fly.

      @@Niallistical Actually, a dogs crate is like its bedroom, its their safe relaxation space. Funny story, one night at like 3am i heard my dog vomit in his crate, so i wiped it up but didnt disinfect (was too tired at that hour) so i just left him out and locked the crate so he cant go back in. Long story short, he made a huge fuss, upset because he wanted to sleep in his crate. Also, i dont lock my dog in his crate, he goes in and out at his leisure....however if i needed to lock him in i could and he'd still be very comfortable in it.
