When I was in my 20's fundamentals like this weren't cool to me but my freelance graphic design career didn't last long, and it may be related to my lack of accepting the truth about typographic design. 10 years later with rusty skills I have a second opportunity to learn again and apply my skills the right way. I can go on and on but I'm happy that content like this gets put out.
I know exactly what you mean. When I was at art college, I really wasn't into typography that much, but as time moved on, I really started to gain a much bigger appreciation for how typography affects our day to day lives.
It is fantastic to hear that you've got a second bite at the apple and are making the most of it this time around.
At last a straightforward explanation of all that Book typeface etc jargon. Thank you RYB!
Thanks for the feedback Gerald :)
Very well explained ! I've seen other videos that make the typography terms too complicated to comprehend specially when you're new to design , like I am ... at last a straightforward video! :)
You made my second term in college so much easier , thank you so much and bless you!!
I am so happy that I was able to help support you in your studies Chanstony :)
The sound of the intro is too loud compared to the level of sound of your voice.... But you are a master, thanks to share your knowledge master. = )
Yeah, sorry about that Albertozzy. Was still trying to find my feet back then when it came to video editing.
Thanks for watching and commenting :)
Typography terminology, what a mouthful : P
Now say it 3 times fast :D
Thanks! I'm new to design and these were terms I hadn't heard before :).

Glad to help Peri Peri
good video
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it :)
2:14 is it weird to say that i looked at the smaller bit first?
Not really :)
The situation in that video is a little bit different compared to if you were seeing a poster or a page of text elsewhere. In saying that though, not everyone looks at things the same way, but as a general rule, people will tend to look at the largest text first.
Me after the intro:
Wtf did you just say
Edit: I watched it though and appreciate the info
Col, your videos are so good, thank you. What are most common fonts weights that I should have for type Im about to buy when it fits the project/design? etetc. bold and thin, thanks
As a minimum, I want LIGHT, REGULAR, BOLD weights, followed by italicised versions of each.
Thanks for the kind words :)
Cheers,
Col
