After googling it - a glyph is the visual / design representation of a character. For example the second letter in the English alphabet can be written in lowercase both as small B and b. Different visuals - same character - that's what the glyph is.
In typography, a glyph /ɡlɪf/ is an elemental symbol within an agreed set of symbols, intended to represent a readable character for the purposes of writing. Sounds about right :) A shape on paper, that serves the purpose of visualising an aural trigger.
My understanding of the difference between a character and a glyph (from a programmer perspective) - is that a character is the conceptual representation of a letter. As in 'b' is the second letter in the English alphabet. A glyph is the visual representation of that character in a given font. Perhaps the real definition from a typographer might be different but language changes over time
I get very useful information related to my university assignments .and learn new things I have a question that how i become good in typo and wha practice i do daily to gain expertise in typography. And suggest some books that helpful for me .❤❤❤❤ Sir you are doing Great . May you live long 🤗🙃🙃 Reply me plz.
Thanks for the video. I love the three colour combination of your presentation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you might have mixed up the ›Italic‹ and ›Oblique‹ style. When I remember what I heard on the history of typefaces ›Italic‹ was a style that brought back the handwritten aspect of lettering after the invention of Gutenbergs type printing press and became popular around Italy. Wikipedia also explains it the other way around than you did. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oblique_type

Monospaced fonts are also used on programming because of vertical alignment of characters, which is very important while reading code.
Yes indeed, good example!
I was just about to say this!
Amazing content, can't wait to watch the whole series! Very informative information that most self taught motion designers are not educated about.
Glad you like them!
