We wanted to put assumptions to the test to see what we're missing out on because we're so busy assuming we already "know" a person. We are all conditioned with certain biases. In this experiment, we challenged these biases by asking people to guess their partner's interests and past experiences based only on their partner's appearance. When they learned their partner's real answers, they were shocked by how wrong they were.

How should they know their ethnic backgrounds? Whites and blacks have been in the US for 300-100 years. They're ethnically mixed and the only way to subcategorize them is to make them do a DNA ancestry test. Besides, no one is 100% a certain ethnicity, we're all mixed.
If your ancestors were slaves, it's damn near impossible to know your actual ethnicity. Going far back enough, it would be dependent on your ancestor's owners keeping good records, since you know...those black people were property. And white people in America a lot of times know their ethnicity, but they don't care enough to state it sometimes. I'm sure she knows whether she's Irish or English or something.

And then there's a sector of people who have to pay to find out. Black people should make it a priority to get DNA testing so they can answer a question on a UA-cam video? There's bunch of more important things to spend your money on.

I've read the comments before watching the video and thought this was going to be a cringe fest because of all the comments that said the woman was being rude. She wasn't, at all, imo. I think they're both very nice people, though I can see why some would think that.

I really think it depends on how you see dating. I personally believe going on ONE date with someone is not a waste of time. You get to know a new person whether you go on a second date or not.
Now, if you think knowing people is a waste of your time, then that's you. I don't think is good or bad, though, as someone said previously, it is pretty subjective. and to be clear when I said that she was nicer than him I meant it about her attitude.
If she doesn't want to date him, she doesn't have to, no matter what the reason. He isn't "nicer" than her, it wouldn't be nice of her to go on dates with him if she didn't want to.
She said no because they didn't agree on anything. He said yes because he thinks she's beautiful. I say that because he overlooked all their differences. I'm in my 30s, and for myself it's easy for me to want a second date because I find the person attractive and I have a tendency to idealize them instead of focusing on who they really are. If you have nothing in common, that isn't setting a foundation. I'm currently working past these issues. =-)

This is putting how it makes him feel over how it may make the other person feel, and this can lead those people to hold it over the other person's head and shame the other person for being ungrateful. Some people like to be pampered and provided for all the time, and some people like to pamper and provide all the time. Others prefer to share and have a more balanced relationship and just don't really like to be pampered all the time. That's not to say you still can't do nice things, but a more equal balance of it often works better for those people. It's not to say he is wrong and she is right, or vise versa, but it's important to know going into it if the other person would prefer an equal balance or would prefer having the other person be more of the provider, and it's just about respecting the other person and what they want, and if it doesn't work for you, then it's best just to part ways and move on. I know there are plenty of guys who will say a woman like her is bitchy because those women don't want to adhere to the typical gender rolls in a relationship and just be provided for all the time, but this often comes from the fact that the guys feel like they lose some power over the woman and it makes them feel more insecure about their masculinity. This goes back to the point about how they make it about themselves and how it makes them feel rather than taking into consideration how it makes the other person feel.

I think what he was trying to say is that being "a provider" is the way he knows how to show love, based on his past experiences he has learned that when you love someone, you do these "provider" things for them. It makes him feel good when he able to show a woman he loves her by paying for stuff and "providing for her". He isn't necessarily doing it to just boost his ego and one-up his woman, and I think it's important to remember that what's been shown here is just one slither of the conversation and we shouldn't be quick to make assumptions :)
