Always gotta give yourself that extra 1/4 inch just in case, mad respect on that man. I've seen too many people get boned because the fish wouldn't measure even with TPWD stretching it as much as they could. It's super not worth it.

Great job brotha. You just try lightly dusting your fish with flower plus seasoning before pan frying.

yes I never knew what it was either until MDLR started doing it. When he started doing it, in that particular video, he explained what it was, where it came from (the Japanese), and why he started doing it. He was also skeptical at first and said he was. Then, thereafter, when He did the cooking video of the first one he ShinkeJime’d, he said he would never go back!😅 Haha this is what I remember of that video, maybe a couple years ago. You can go search for it in his archive. It will take some searching but yes he basically did the exact video you requested quite sometime ago. Maybe… a couple years back from 2023 when I type this reply in August ‘23.

also many other videos on UA-cam from other creators explaining this tried and true ancient Japanese practice. Ike Jime and Shinke Jime. I for one, do not personally practice it. It is anglers’ choice. But it is very interesting to learn about.

I discovered that spot 20 years ago and no1 fished it. Kayaks weren't that popular yet. It was a long walk down the track. Trust me it used to be insanely good. On the outgoing tide the trout and reds would be stacked. The fish would come there every evening waiting for the tide. U would get a nice trout every cast until u caught most of them then they would get a lil smart. I would let them regroup for a couple days then do it again. Like I said no1 fished it. Was nothing to catch a limit in 10 12 mins all 18-25 in. Usually caught like 20 or until tired then go look for tailing reds

Mr. MDLR, if I may be mischievous in the chat thread, I’d like to challenge you to try out ike jime and cc’n’c on a big keeper hard head, or a keeper gafftop. 😂 lol i know you hate em and they give you all sorts of trouble. And I know I am just one fan. Nevertheless, challenge issued! I think you had done a gafftop cc’n’c a long time ago but maybe it was one of the other channels🎣😎
