Thank you. You leave my dream and give me hope that one day I can be able to do this type of fishing myself. As a disabled veteran it is hard for me to put kayak on the water right now. So, I usually fish of a pier in Galveston.
Mr. MDLR I am slightly embarrassed to say that I had a literal dream about watching an MDLR video😂 but I also thought it would be silly to say and type out that it happened to me so here I am. hahaha. Well when I woke up I realized I had not actually watched one in a couple months! Sorry. lol. K not sorry. But I am glad that I remembered again!
Ain't nothing more exciting than seeing reds with their tails out of the water Marc. I have witnessed times where there was litterly 50 or more reds in Christmas Bay in a school doing this. It just takes your breath away. Again another great video Marc. Once again, tks for the memories!!
them durned sandies lol. So aggressive. So many! I have been wanting to take some crappie gear and lures and like, get 10, 10” sandies and have a taco feast! haha. they tear up your lures and don’t stay on the hooks! Well that could be my own lack of skill in hooking em
Mark, I live on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia, this area is known for its blue crabs. If you take the hard shell and hold each segment between the legs and the claws, you can snap it open and it produces lumps of crabmeat, i.e., lump crabmeat. You can also clean the crabs and roll the hard-shell bodies in cornmeal and fry them in peanut oil, and they are very delicious. You can also freeze the fried hard shells and when you reheat them, the cornmeal will hold just the right amount of peanut oil to make them taste like they were freshly cooked. We usually cook a bushel at time, half steamed and half fried. Anyway, I enjoyed the fishing, the sizzle was very notable, but the aroma was off the chart. lol, take care and be safe!
This right here! I grew up on the Chesapeake Bay. I now call South Carolina home and spend my time fishing the coast of Carolina. Steamed Crabs are the best!
Thanks Christine, it would be nice to see a video to comprehend what you’re saying. I love the taste of the blue crabs and want to get the most out of them.
Hi Mark, you can search UA-cam for cracking blue crab, there are lots of methods, but this link is the closest to how I crack crab: ua-cam.com/users/shortsHnOBSXFbCGo?feature=share
I need get out to San Padre Island and start fishing again , it's been a rough year for me and the Colonel,im ok but the old man is not, got my fishing license last year but never a have time to fish, hopefully this summer, thanks for sharing another great video Mr.Mark.
Very hard to fish that jetty with a kayak. Too many jetty anglers from the beginning to end of it. Some will intentionally try to hit you with a heavy spoon.
yes and there are several if not many videos in Mr. MDLR’s archive that one can go back through and view where he does exactly that! From a few years ago before he got too tired of fightin’ the crowds, which is totally understandable. But yes he has made that video before but maybe you knew it already also. If so, my bad lol.
I guess the Old man is busy, but yes I have a channel. If you click my profile picture it should take you there!!! And on the RX angler thing, Nick has a full time job as a pharmacist, hence the RX, so it’s hard to line up schedules. On top of that Nick likes to do Kayak content exclusively and since we’ve been branching out a bit it gets even harder to line up a trip due to conflicting schedules. Thanks again.
A cleaned crab like that I know as a gumbo crab. Clean, throw in a pot of gumbo, done. Interesting note, the Chesapeake brag about their crab....they import tons, of not most from us on the gulf coast.
I have never tried them but several old Men would ask us to save them the floats out of Speckled Trout. They would fry them and they had to be good cause they always wanted them. Just a thought of something Older Trout fishermen always cooked and we throw away.
@@MDLRFishing maybe we should try them. They don’t look all that appetizing but we kind of owe it to the fish. I do respect that you put back the majority of what you catch and only keep enough for one good meal. I have been watching you since you got started and you have come a long way Brother.
Hey Mr Mark. I have been starting my journey into finding a solo skiff. Well trying to start, I can't seem to find and dealers near me. (I live in same area as you) maybe you could point me in a certain direction?
@@MDLRFishing darn. That's what scares the heck outta me though honestly. If there aren't companies making em there's gotta be a catch. Thanks for your quick response though your one of the very few that communicate with your audience on an unmatched level.
back in the mid 1950s mom and dad's tavern (on the Catholic polish southside of milwaukee) did FRIDAY fish fry and certain times she got ocean crabs to do .... as a 5-7 year old I loved crab... the was something inside the shell that she mixed with cocktail sauce and I DEVOURED....STILL REMEMBER 5 GALLON POTS FULL OF COOKED CRABS...btw SHE CHARGED $1.25 2 haddock fillets, fries, cole slaw, and a BEER..don't know what she charged for CRAB....in those days a BEER and a SHOT was 25 cents.......
20'mins is way too long - 12mins for a whole crab if the water is already boiling 10mins if you have already removed the shell and cleaned it the meat should never be higher that 140°it
nah it’s not too long. haha. ok well sometimes. but right now for me it is perfect! And plus for me it’s like, I always listen to the radio or a podcast for an hour at a time, why couldn’t I just use the same method for youtube videos? haha. But there is this weird, like, psychological thing where it’s like, shorter youtube videos equals better youtube videos. Which is not true, but we, the public populace have sorta kinda like, been trained to it, on youtube, for the past 15 or 20 years of youtube existence
That fish fat is chock full of EFA-(think expensive fish oil pills) -essential and what commercial dog and cat food is missing…that’s the best thing you could possibly feed your animals.
It is NOT NECESSARY to bleed out a speckled trout dude 😅 You're the only person in my 30 years of trout fishing that I've ever seen bleed out a trout. No need to do that folks, not gonna change anything
I agree it’s not necessary. Almost everyone I know just sticks them on a stringer. That being said the ole spike to the brain 100% makes a difference. The fillets come out firmer and the meat last’s 2-3 days longer before getting that fishy smell. Not necessary but still pretty neat if you take the time to try it out.
@BR the blood carries bacteria and it’s the foremost cause for the decay process. I don’t understand your indifference on something that’s subjective. I appreciate your support though. Welcome to the channel!
Back on the birds UA-cam channel, the bird says “there’s got to be something here. That guy in the kayak is here for some reason”. LOL!
I think people are overlooking this gem 😂😂
😂😂😂 makes sense
This needs to be top comment 😂

There’s no dessert better than breakfast dessert! Lol
in fisherman magazine this month did a story on the needle kill and taste preservation...
I thoroughly enjoy my catch using this method to preserve the meat.
i still remember when MDLR started using the Ike Jime Japanese fish kill method!
All so wish to thank you for your service.
Thanks David

Cool change of something different to catch and eat. They look so tasty!
It was very good
Used to use a popping cork over reefs.. to bring them up.

Excellent catch & cook video Mark. Loved it.
Glad you enjoyed it 🤙

Mark what type of seasonings were you using here?
Cupacabra
I gotta ask how were you able to launch there? There are "No Parking" signs all up and down that road. Did someone drop you off?
Would it be possible to wade that area if don’t have a kayak?
I don’t suggest it. Have you ever sank into marsh mud?
