Had tickets to see them tour this new record. Postponed to September 2021 but it will be even more awesome because I’ll already love the record.
The Deftones are just so cool for no reason. The basic riffs, the fact that they make a 9 string sound not like a 9 string.

@@staz3014 Genesis is technically in F# Standard on an 8 string, but he only uses the first 7 strings so it's more like B Standard. It can be played in Drop C on a 6 string, though!
I used to think anything below Drop A was stupid. Now I’m tuning to Drop C# on an 8 string.

@DonJuan LeBron you're right. I've been a fan since adrenaline but this is the first album that took a minute but it's all I can listen to right now. It just isn't what I expected. Queens of the Stone Age was like that. I've listened to them since songs for the deaf but since covid I can't put them and then crooked vultures down. Like over the top

Ive had this song on reapeat for like three days trying to figure out the tunning an effects an for this to be on a nine string when ive known Steph to use 8 on the more recent albums blons my mf mind to bits...dude you killed it on this im def looking into 8 9 string guitars next...never played in that tunning mostly drop ful D but f man next lever Deftones never cease to amazing good looking on the cover

The instrumentals are great but its just the background magic under the main source of magic which is the vocals. With Deftones imo its just whey too much to leave out vocals when covering them.
The only 9-string song on this album. A little bummed about that, but the second album listen wasn’t as bad as the first.

Its actually way cooler that some riffs are based around the lower strings and some sound like near standard tuning riffs, contrast ftw.

Wish this album was mixed like Diamond Eyes or Koi no Yokan. Sounded like a better Gore. Guitars were too "far behind" in the mix.
I think they were going for a more sludgy shoegazey vibe w this one so I think the mix was quite fitting
i feel like it sounds the way it does so when they play it live theyll sound close to the album for most of the songs

@@Therealfakemaxgoldberg I feel like it's only a bit more clear than Gore. KNY has pretty much the same sound as Diamond Eyes... I get that they wanted a "space" sound, I just feel like they didn't need to mix the guitar so far behind, because, in my opinion, koi no yokan is their most atmospheric album and the guitar is still up front. But I also liked the fact that, because of the mixing in here, we could hear the bass easily.
João Souza idk man, to me at least, the production on this album makes every member prominent & easily heard in the mix. The guitar on Gore on the other hand sounded very washed out, almost lo fi & when it was more clear another element would get lost in the mix. We don’t have the same ears tho, so it is what it is
