@@chickenfillets Neir Automata the end of yorha edition Oddly I had the same experience you did😅 I did not know you needed to play the game multiple times😱 so I quite after I beat it the first time and only found out 3 months later the truth🤣
@@chickenfillets Nope your definitely not alone at all. I was honestly thinking what’s so great about the game after I finished it🤔 I just could not comprehend why people liked it so much….. I felt a wee bit foolish after watching a review on the game 3 months later and discovering the game requires several play throughs as well as a lot of endings 🥳 I had similar feelings about darakengard 3 on the ps3, I’d love a remaster of that game 🥰 it was a really trip to play Knights contract had me literally scratching my head in constant confusion to be honest. As did Alice madness returns ( Alice especially I’d love to play on my switch)
The first 2 are the peak of GBA games, but DD was lacking and off in so many ways. Maybe if it was set 200 years later, i could buy the beastkin being spread out further than Airs Rock, but its only like.... 20 years... and entire empires just sprung from nowhere
For me, Vesperia is more of a think-piece than something you can take at face value. Yuri's morality, what characters are doing off-screen, Duke's motivation, etc. I can agree it's not the STRONGEST Tales story (I think Symphonia and Abyss tie with each other depending on what you want from a jrpg story), but there's a lot of moving parts that aren't explicitly told to you. Like how Raven was always in multiple places at once, Judith's motivations for destroying blastia and how that affected Rita, the game's prequel movie and how that ties into Yuri's, Flynn's and even Repede's backstories. The game just has a much more subtle approach to its theming, and it's fair if it doesn't hit as hard because of that. For me when you can combine everything the narrative is collectively pretty strong. But these're what opinions are for!
And that's an awesome take on it as well and yeah you're definitely right we all have an opinion. I always like hearing folks opinions! Thank you for watching!
'The goal of lost sphear is to make sure the world doesn't get forgotten' Ironic considering what happened to Tokyo RPG Factory. As for JRPGs that made me say 'Is that it' I'd have to say Lufia 2....because I didn't want it to end ;-;
I guess it's a you thing, because Tales of Vesperia didn't make me feel that type of way at all, and it seems like the majority of people liked it as well, that's the only game that Ill defend from this list though lol.
I forgot about Relink. It was so much shorter than I thought it was going to be. Especially what I assumed was airship traveling through the world. And to this day I can't remember anything about Celceta.
Hope the UA-cam algorithm doesn't like the fact I had to skip over a few of these. Anyway, I can get how someone could be completely confused with Final Fantasy XV without the lore... and the DLC helps too. I get what Square was trying to do with spread it across different forms of media, but it comes off as kind of sloppy. Extra things should just enhance the experience and not be required to know what is going on. For example, you can dive into Final Fantasy VII Remake, and mostly follow it without extra lore.
Hey! Don't worry about skipping stuff! Yeah I went full bore with lore, dunno if RPG Story did but you know with the length of time he played I totally get why he felt like that haha
Hey John, well I though I was alone with Mario RPG! Glad that your fell the same! the other game that does that to me is Earthbound, yeah I know popular opinion there also lol
I never finished vesperia as i played it a week before KH3 came out so dropped it to play that game. I believe i was 10ish hours in and remembered enjoying it. When i tried going back to it more recently, i could barely get through the opening segments and genuinely question what i personally liked about it the first time around 🤣
NieE Automata: The "Is that it" moment after first playthrough was likely intentional, and that's what makes the game a masterpiece: it just builds upon itself. In reality, there aren't really "multiple" playthroughs as they are not the same. Regarding Vesperia,.I also found it boooring. The best Tales so far was Arise, followed by Berseria (story-wise at least). Granblue Fantasy Relink, I didn't even bother playing, it felt overly generic.
Oh yeah with Nier Automata deffo, I tell you what though it is definitely a masterpiece, I was just a dumbass haha! See I'm finding alot of folk are saying the same about Vesperia! Thank you for watching 🙂
Great video! OMG! I am so happy you thought Vesperia was boring because I thought it was super boring! It really put me off from Tales but I'm sure I'll find one I like!!!
It's not a JRPG but The Legend of Zelda Majoras Mask just felt very short to me especially if you don't do all the side quests. The ending felt underwhelming too especially being a follow up to Ocarina of Time.
man, seeing gbf's sprite for Yuri here is.... well, an experience but eh, relink in my opinion is very much cygames trying to both introduce gbf to people, and to make gbf players give them more money (cant have enough with gacha, y'know). bitesized experience of "what if monster hunter but gbf", where instead of rathalos and fatalis you go hunt gryphon (ask any old gbf player about its meme status in original game) and yaba-ba-bahamut for n-th time.
Final fantasy 15 is by far not my favorite from the series, but it was final fantasy 12 that I just did not understand. I played it the first time and concentrated on side quests and forgot what I needed to do to progress. So, I started completely over and ended up beating it.....and I have no clue what even was going on in the game....not a thing!

I love SMRPG but I can understand if its too simple for some but it's just a classic game. Good stuff! "IS THAT IT?!"

ff12....made me say this exact line. i was waiting for some insane planet level threat to explode the story or something akin to leaving midgar in ff7, or seeing the summon atomos level the city in ff9 , every square game i played ff4678910 , chrono trigger cross parasite xenogears eve etc all in a row growing up so im used to insane quality level of story telling... i felt it cannot be this boring politics and character vaan with zero social chrisma till the end? btw ff12 international/zodiac is great gameplay and its postgame is the greatest in ff and probably the last mainline ff i thought was great

Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. It's literally half of a story. I still stand up for it, it's not a bad game, but it really NEEDED another game to wrap it up.
