With all the lore and expanded story in the doom universe, now we just need a passionate film maker and studio to make a REAL Doom movie and even series
I think if they do do a lore true doom film it would need to be set at a time a game doesn't cover, which doesn't leave much room to play with, we all seen Halo and how badly it goes when you rewrite existing history, DOOM is one of those where it only truly shines as a game, films cut too much out, and make stuff up just because it looks good on camera so now the lore has to change to keep that one scene, no thanks, keep it in the games, DOOM is too good to ruin on the big screen again
@VokunVulonPrivate only reason games turned movies go bad is because of creative license. Too many times directors want to "ground it to reality" or make a piece of the story "make more sense". The story behind Doom would indeed make an awesome movie series if done properly
I like to think that theyre all canon. Multiple parallel earths and timelines. However, there is only ONE Hell. All these alternate realities linked together by one Hell.
I remember being curious about the weird sound played when you got to the Icon of Sin in Doom 2 as a kid. I dug around in the install files and found a .wav that was what was played when you entered the room. Having heard so many tall tales about Led Zepplin records playing backwards satantic messages, I figured this was similar and opened the file in windows audio player, then reversed it. I don't remember the exact wording, but the jist of it was "To win the game, you must defeat me, John Romero"

I’d like to point out that in the first game Doomguy doesn’t “arrive” at the base. He was sent there by the military for refusing to fire upon civilians and spent his first day on base getting drunk and he passed out in a closet. When he woke up the next day, hungover, he was shocked and mortified to discover the invasion and felt incredibly guilty that he was not awake and aware enough to have tried to help.
This video was dedicated to the Icon of Sin, so I skimmed parts of Doomguy's story. If I had mentioned every detail, it would have been a huge video haha. If you are interested, I did dedicate a video to the Doomguy a few months ago.

What rubbish are you talking? Here's the story directly from the manual: If thats too long to read, I'll give you a heads up - he doesn't get drunk, sleep in and miss the action; he's been on Mars for *four years* before being sent to Phobos *with his squadmates*. He's the last one left because he was assigned to secure the perimeter. "You're a space marine, one of Earth's toughest, hardened in combat and trained for action. Three years ago you assaulted a superior officer for ordering his soldiers to fire upon civilians. He and his body cast were shipped to Pearl Harbor, while you were transferred to Mars, home of the Union Aerospace Corporation. The UAC is a multi-planetary conglomerate with radioactive waste facilities on Mars and its two moons, Phobos and Deimos. With no action for fifty million miles, your day consisted of suckin' dust and watchin' restricted flicks in the rec room. For the last four years the military, UAC's biggest supplier, has used the remote facilities on Phobos and Deimos to conduct various secret projects, including research on inter-dimensional space travel. So far they have been able to open gateways between Phobos and Deimos, throwing a few gadgets into one and watching them come out the other. Recently however, the gateways have grown dangerously unstable. Military "volunteers" entering them have either disappeared or been stricken with a strange form of insanity--babbling vulgarities, bludgeoning anything that breathes, and finally suffering an untimely death of full-body explosion. Matching heads with torsos to send home to the folks became a full-time job. Latest military reports state that the research is suffering a small setback, but everything is under control. A few hours ago, Mars received a garbled message from Phobos. "We require immediate military support. Something fraggin' evil is coming out of the gateways! Computer systems have gone berserk!" The rest was incoherent. Soon afterwards, Deimos simply vanished from the sky. Since then, attempts to establish contact with either moon have been unsuccessful. You and your buddies, the only combat troop for fifty million miles were sent up pronto to Phobos. You were ordered to secure the perimeter of the base while the rest of the team went inside. For several hours, your radio picked up the sounds of combat: guns firing, men yelling orders, screams, bones cracking, then finally silence. Seems your buddies are dead. Things aren't looking too good. You'll never navigate off the planet on your own. Plus, all the heavy weapons have been taken by the assault team leaving you only with a pistol. If only you could get your hands around a plasma rifle or even a shotgun you could take a few down on your way out. Whatever killed your buddies deserves a couple of pellets in the forehead. Securing your helmet, you exit the landing pod. Hopefully you can find more substantial firepower somewhere within the station. As you walk through the main entrance of the base, you hear animal-like growls echoing throughout the distant corridors. They know you're here. There's no turning back now." If you're going to correct someone, maybe try actually being, you know, *correct*.
He said the Doomguy just arrived on Phobos. Which is true. You’re referring to the beginning of the game when he’s on Mars. He’s taking about the end of the game on Phobos

I think there is a different read to Icon of Sins original designn in Doom 2: It is a giant head, constructed into a wall. Someone or something has opened its brain up. It teleports demons into the real world, and around the level. Furthermore: Dooms plot is about scientists during discovering teleportation, moving through hell and meeting demons. So what if the Icon of Sin plays into that? What if it was the scientiests that discovered hell, that also discovered this head of a demon, and in an attempt to reanimate it, they carved into its skull, they attached it on this wall in some sort of life support, and once awakened, discovered that it can teleport demons around. If you read the 2016 Doom enemy notes, theres a lot of lore on scientists experimenting with demons. So while not the most official lore, using something in a game that came out over 20 years after the original, maybe the scientists have something to do with why the Icon of Sin is a big head with its brain exposed slapped on a wall with what appear to be life support mechanisms. (I know it is what it is due to technical limitations, but you know, for lore you can read a bit more into it.)

My ex and myself beat Doom2 together. Though we were unaware of the brain weak point solution, so we massacred at least a thousand demons trying to figure it out for over an hour. The kill count went beyond 100% and counted up for literally ten minutes. I counted. Holy hell. What a relief when we finally defeated him.

I remember the first time I played against the icon of sin in the original doom. A goat's skull with a hole in its head. I didn't think it was scary. But it was a long fight (because I didn't know at first) that you had to shoot rockets into its head.
thanks a lot for this video! Im fairly new to the doom franchise and after playing every game the whole lore seemes kinda scattered and really hard to figure out so this video is very helpfull ^^
John Romero just got so ruthlessly undersold here, from one of the founder's of id software (known for games like Wolfenstein, quake, hexen, doom) and straight up daddy of the FPS genre and a deathmatch smack talking legend who actually coined the word deathmatch to coder.....
Great video, love the use of the OST background music. Exceptionally fitting. Your voice works great for this type of content, and your research and depth of media references rocks.
I love your channel so much :)). It gives me joy to geek about lore sometimes and sometimes I find it difficult to connect various scattered lore bits. Thank you!
We don't talk about DooM 2 RPG. It exists, but hopefully we'll forget that it was ever made. It had some cool story and lore but the gameplay is turnbased. If you think DooM 3 is a change of pace, just play the afformentioned mobile port.
I always considered doom 3 canon betruger and Olivia data log the soul cube the timeline being a few years before 2016 and covered up the tomb of the hero which is the coffin that was later used as inspiration for 2016 the ancient mars civilization that you visit briefly in the mars level of eternal. Thats just me tho. Even before doom eternal there were people saying 2016 wasn't connected to the classics until eternal came out and proved that they were.
I tend to head-canon it as a Doom 1993 prequel; after surviving Hell and the Maledict, the marine is traumatized and comes back to Mars for recovery, only to learn the teleportation experiments are still going. Through Doom 1 and 2 to 64 his mind is warped to lose all of his humanity, before he is sent back in time and space to the Night Sentinel.
The argent a named a city after a transformer? Nice. Although I would have gone with Optimus Prime personally, Sentinel Prime was still a cool character
Doom 2 is truly nostalgic for me. I grew up in the early 90's and played Doom 2 since I could comprehend how to play it. I also knew all the cheat codes, so killing John Romero's head by clipping into the wall was achieved often. I never understood it as a child. Like, "This big demon head has a small human head that's the real boss. And he's got a funny looking haircut." What I wouldn't give for modern games to have that same level of mystique and feeling as I get when thinking about playing Doom 2. It's probably nothing wrong with new games, that's just the serotonin boost of a young child diving into a 20ft deep pool of blood, violence, and demonic bodily annihilation. The moral of the Doom story. Large corporations would definitely sell our population to demons for a bit of unlimited energy and teleportation technology. If demon's invade IRL, better believe Amazon would start delivering demon hordes to your doorstep. Now comes the reign of Big Daddy Demon Bezos.
I really enjoy your doom content. Hopefully there is more to cover. Perhaps you could do mortal kombat lore content. With the new game dropping soon, it might be a good time to cover it. Anyways, thank you again for the content!
There was that unused line from the khan maykr about the slayer’s earth being in the 7th dimension. Even though it went unused, it implies that the new earth is different
These style of videos are really cool i think halo would be amazing for you to cover ! Halo has some really deep lore that most people dont even know about.
But I don't understand. Doom Marine closes the well in Doom 2016 but the Khan Maykr still gets argent energy through Argenta and he closes that too ain't it? Or did I miss something. So she was still getting argent energy anyway, even without Agrent D'Nur?
Easter eggs cannot be cannon due to the virtue of being an easter egg. As their references are not only 4th wall breaks, but also undermine and conflict with the game it self. It is also for that very reason they are included, and also why they are refered as easter eggs in the first place, as they are not meant to be seen by most players.
holy shit doom 2 rpg, I thought I was the only one who ever heard of (or played) it. I need to get a java phone emulator up and running so I can go back and replay that shit
I know he became Doom Slayer, but I will always call him DoomGuy. There's something so special about a guy who's really angry just slaughtering demons. Way cooler than being the chosen one. I also think the doom story was much better when it was pretty much just sci Fi, with demons stepping in for aliens. All the holy factions, knights, gods, etc. Is a bit much, and it was so out of nowhere. I guess it kind of works since DoomGuy travelled dimensions, I just don't feel like it fit.
I feel like a horrible subsriber. It's been a whole day since this came out and I'm only jus watching it. Also, Skyrion, a game that I reccomend you look at, with rich and beautiful lore: Generation Zero. Though, the game is still in development, and can be quite buggy at the moment, and the lore is subject to change and that, I imagine, could be quite fustating. Though, I reccomend at the very least looking into it. Keep up the great work!

The kill count went beyond 100% and counted up for literally ten minutes. I counted. Holy hell. What a relief when we finally defeated him.
I will always love that Doom is basically based on the WH40K concept of space travel.
Really happy I came across this channel. I really like your style, Videos like these can help me with my panic attacks, thank you for covering interesting topics and having a calming voice/presentation!
Good luck buddy. It's gonna be ok
Is your name a reference to Ishtar?
Great video there’s surprisingly not as many ppl you would think who are this well versed in Doom’s lore nuances like the Call of Ages, or how the victims of the demons are reincarnated in Hell as the damned, but you’ve got it all down. I’d love to see more Doom content in the future
Except doomguys lore. Got that blatantly wrong. Video looks great "facts" need to be taken with a tablespion of salt
@@dangerousrival5026This girl can't even spell tablespoon 🤦🏻♂️
@@adolfo777nica lmfao dyslexia is a curse I CANT READ xD
And typing can suck soemtimes too
How many times can you say "Rip" and "Tear"?
Skyrionn: Say less
I remember the first time I played against the icon of sin in the original doom. A goat's skull with a hole in its head. I didn't think it was scary. But it was a long fight (because I didn't know at first) that you had to shoot rockets into its head.
thanks a lot for this video! Im fairly new to the doom franchise and after playing every game the whole lore seemes kinda scattered and really hard to figure out so this video is very helpfull ^^
The Icon of Sin was a rediculous boss at the end of Doom: Eternal main campaign.
John Romero just got so ruthlessly undersold here, from one of the founder's of id software (known for games like Wolfenstein, quake, hexen, doom) and straight up daddy of the FPS genre and a deathmatch smack talking legend who actually coined the word deathmatch to coder.....
demon: In awe at the splendor of this lad. Absolute icon.
Great video, love the use of the OST background music. Exceptionally fitting. Your voice works great for this type of content, and your research and depth of media references rocks.

never thought an offhand joke i made in that livestream chat would end up in a video
if you subscribe to skyrionn you win the game of UA-cam
It was a great joke. 100% used it haha
I love your channel so much :)). It gives me joy to geek about lore sometimes and sometimes I find it difficult to connect various scattered lore bits. Thank you!
Finally, I was getting worried you wouldn't upload
I hated not posted for a week. This one, and the one I'm currently working on are tough topics to get into the right order :) Thanks for waiting!
Dude fuck yes. Your Doom lore videos are fucking sick.
When Davoth was defeated, did the Icon and Sin and other Titans outside of hell disappear?
I like how you used Triage at Dawn in the end
Love these videos. You got me back into playing Doom and Doom Eternal.
Excellent work with the frame editing and directing of your doom videos, keep it up!
Doom Slayer: "how many time i have to teach you a leasson old man!"
Icon of Sin: "I love the young people!"
5:10 I remembered saying that these graphics looked so life like 😂😂 time and age are cruel mistresses
You would think that after nearly destroying the Earth, someone would have thought, "You know what? We don't REALLY need the UAC."
Literal Satan: nobody can defeat me!
One guy angry because they killed his rabbit: 🔫😡
Remember, the longer the Icon Of Sin remains on Earth, the stronger he will become!
But where exactly did it get the power to become stronger the longer it stays on earth, did demons built like a shrine or something?
I think it’s is just draining energy around it. If the doom slayer didn’t put in the crucible then it would have turned into a black hole
THE LONGER THE ICON OF SIN IS ON EARTH, THE STRONGER IT BECOMES
You gotta love how there's 2 hazmat suits just casually next to the Icon of sin, haha.
the doom franchise make me think of the theory that mars is a warning
I really enjoy your doom content. Hopefully there is more to cover. Perhaps you could do mortal kombat lore content. With the new game dropping soon, it might be a good time to cover it. Anyways, thank you again for the content!
Is the UAC and Earth seen in Doom 2016/Eternal the same from the older games or are they different, parallel dimension versions?
Pretty sure they’re just a parallel version
We're still not sure. I think it's just another version tbh
There was that unused line from the khan maykr about the slayer’s earth being in the 7th dimension. Even though it went unused, it implies that the new earth is different
All Doom games link together specially Doom 69, After killing the mother Doom guy wander in hell till argent plane
23:00 GYYATTTTTTT
If the betrayer's son soul was used to give life to the Icon, why not John Romero?
awesome video!
These style of videos are really cool i think halo would be amazing for you to cover ! Halo has some really deep lore that most people dont even know about.
That "hell" they discovered was it, jekkad ? 1:40
Great video btw!
But I don't understand. Doom Marine closes the well in Doom 2016 but the Khan Maykr still gets argent energy through Argenta and he closes that too ain't it? Or did I miss something. So she was still getting argent energy anyway, even without Agrent D'Nur?
“It used every ability it had” yeah except its strength to drop the building
Enjoyed the vid. Love some doom lore
You mean! The Icon Said you gotta Kill John Romero?! Holy crap
What a cool name dude
What's the source of the middle image in the thumbnail?
Now i want a spinoff game playing a knight sentinel in game like WH40K Spacemarine.
Great video! I hope Doom will return in near future
Man, the UAC just couldn't give up those portals could they?
holy shit doom 2 rpg, I thought I was the only one who ever heard of (or played) it. I need to get a java phone emulator up and running so I can go back and replay that shit
OMG, even I am getting Dune and Doom confused these days.
So the Icon of Sin in past was never a Valen son only in Eternal
We find the crucible near the icon of sins head in doom 2016, and use it on its head in eternal. Ironic
Very interesting!
Bro how many Fuckin times is the UAC gonna make the same Fuckin mistake? Like, you think the first time would be enough of a warning to stop?
love the content!!!
I quit plying shooters. Doom eternal brought me back.
Can you do the lore on the strider if it has any
It’s one of the giants you can’t actually kill, only seal away with the Crucible right? That as soon as it’s removed he’s getting back up?
Jesus christ, i must not have been paying much attention to what was going on around me in Doom, aside from the "rippin n the tearing"
Hello @Skyrionn just asking what program /mod do you use for your videos in Source games
So basically doom is Canon in Warhammer.
Such a metal name “Icon of Sin”
Hey man love your videos could your next video be Castlevania lords of shadow saga timeline if you don’t know what these games are gave them a try there are 3 games and 3 dlc’s You could make a video about each character or The castle
Baphomet, The Icon Of Sin.
