Metallica - Live in Moscow (1991) [2021 ReMixed & ReMastered w/ NEW Audio]

  • Band name: Metallica
    Date: September 28, 1991
    Venue: Tushino Air Field
    Location: Moscow, Russia
    Tour name: Monsters of Rock
Other acts: AC/DC, The Black Crowes, Pantera, E.S.T.
    Notes:
New audio taken from the black album remastered deluxe box set.
Videos taken from three different sources; the "For Those About To Rock" release, "A Year And A Half In The Life Of Metallica", and a bootleg pro-shot source. (Plus the additional MTV news report.)
My original upload attempt had AC/DC's Hell Bells as background audio during the intro and of course The Ecstasy of Gold before Metallica hits the stage but both those tracks were not only copyright claimed but got the entire video blocked...:( so instead enjoy some random audience noise during those parts.
    Enjoy!
    Setlist:
0:00:00 - Intro (copyright blocked audio; audience noise instead)
0:02:45 - The Ecstasy of Gold (copyright blocked audio; audience noise instead)

You guys don’t remember that the Soviet Union didn’t allow Rock or Metal concerts like this with western bands until they were about to break apart like they did during this time. There was like so much pent up energy from this Russian crowd, that’s why it was so fucking amazing!

To all the people that love the Moscow 1991 concert:
Greg Fidelman made a remix of this show for the Deluxe Boxset. Unfortunately, he changed the drum sound to make it sound like the Lars of today.
To get an idea of how great this concert could have sounded in the Deluxe Boxset:
Eight songs from Moscow 1991 with the mix of Randy Staub are / were available on Black Album Singles since the 90s. (Randy Staub was the sound engineer of the Black Album).
You can find Videos that were dubbed with the Randy Staub audio of the Black Album singles.
"Harvester of "Sorrow" is a huge sound upgrade to the version you might know from "A year and a half... Pt.2"

@@bruceprophet8367 One possibility is that the masters with the Randy mix were lost, it is also possible that Randy did not mix the entire concert and the band wanted the sound of the entire concert to be more consistent.
Also in the band's forum, one of those in charge of making the box said that not the whole show was recorded on multitrack and had to be patched with SBD audio, that can be heard in One before reaching the chorus.
