OMG these guys are so hot & have been for over 40 yrs. One of a kind & still coming up with new material. I'm now 71 but they still bring out the beast in me!
I was 16 years old when they released this album and I was listening to it every day. Now I am 55 years old and I still love to hear to this album from the first to he last song. This is the real Metallica Music Masterpiece....
I was thirteen when i saw Metallica live for the first time. My first album i owned was Ride the lighting. Now 30 years later I'm watching this performance .thanks Metallica for all That great music you gave us over the years

I was 14 and freshman in high school when this came out. I bought the album and my friends had no idea what I was listening to (Mind you Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, and Madonna was pop, but I was into metal), and they were like "He is just yelling". Within a year it was playing at every kegger, and I was like "See? I told you, these guys smash..."

The first time I had heard Metallica, i knew right then, there would never be another band that would mean what Metallica would mean to me.. 30 plus years later, and that sentiment holds as true today as it did all those years ago. I have grown old with them. Thanks for giving me countless moment that were beyond rich and intense. I felt alive !

I saw kill 'em all at the Maple Leaf gardens a little younger than 13. My brother was only 10, and got to come with me. It was his first concert, and he's been a die hard fan ever since. I've been to dozens of HEAVY concerts in my life, now at almost 53 years old. The Kill 'em All concert, we watched stands out clearly to this very day. As well as seeing Judas Priest in California, and Ozzy do the Ultimate Sin in Toronto xoxo...oh! Honorable ,menton to WASP in Buffalo 😊
Trapped Under Ice!!! Fuck Yeah!! The first time I saw Metallica was in 1985 in Chicago with Armored Saint and Wasp! This was on the Ride the Lightning tour!! Truly one of the best concerts I ever saw! They were YOUNG James sang it perfect the energy was unreal. I am just stoked to see them still pulling it off now! Kirk WAS a better player then, no question he was tighter.James however is much better. The fact James is willing to try to sing these tunes says alot about him! Keep Rockin guys!!
I've never understood the argument that "people holding their phones can't enjoy the music". I rarely go to concerts, but I would imagine that holding your phone up just long enough to get a good angle, hit record, and then ignore the phone to focus on the music would be simple. You'd be accomplishing both tasks at the same time: Enjoying the show live... in person... while also having a recording to watch back later.
I never considered that Escape was taken off their live playlist for years until recently. Blows my mind that it was considered one of their worst songs, I actually like it as a kid growing up. Song takes me back to the gaming lounge in the basement.
I love hearing Rob's interpretations of these songs - listening to them gives me something to look forward to when revising songs that I've been listening to for decades with the other three - and with the two former bassists!

I REALLY hope people didn’t think I was saying Kirk wasn’t a good player by saying he was tighter then. I have been playing since I was sixteen so 40yrs. We ALL played tighter 40yrs ago. There is NO guitar player that would be better than Kirk for Metallica. Period. He still FUCKING ROCKS, I can’t even think of what metallica would be like with some other Shredder for the

You can see in his eyes (james) the pain and suffering he's been thru to battle sobriety. He is truly one of the greatest songwriters of many generations! I put them up there with greats like Black Sabbath etc. Still writing original music and kicking ass! You tell me what bunch of 60 year olds have a job they truly love for over 40+ years? Can't. They live the American dream! God Bless Metallica!!
I’d like to see them from the kill em all for one tour when they toured with RAVEN in 84 and played the Roseland Ballroom with Anthrax opened up the set with their first vocalist Neil Turbin and had bad acoustics from all that drapery that they had at the Roseland,Cliff had problems hearing himself when they opened with Phantom Lord!!!!!
Master of puppets is the best album because there isn’t a weak song on it at all, escape is the reason this album imo doesn’t stack and trapped under ice too isn’t that strong other than that the rest of the album is amazing, but it just doesn’t compare to master
Damn. Even my cynical butt liked this. Bless Rob for doing the lead bass on Ktulu so well. And Lars remembered he has a second kickdrum! Nice to hear the guitar harmonies playing out well. James' voice was good on this too, especially on FFWF. Rhythm obviously good. And as for Kirk, damn, his intonation was really good. I always thought his solo on the title track was one of his best, and hell, he got it down well. I'm honestly pleasantly surprised.
old school Metallica, is still the best Metallica ... I was 13 when tis album was released, seen them live at Monsters of Rock back in the day here in Belgium amazing band, but I am a big fan of there old stuff
@@chayseferrier3793 I discovered Metallica with kill 'em all, and it was a revolution in hard rock. Then, ride the lightning was more than confirmed, and conquered the world of music. Master hit the nail on the head. But at the level compositions, ride the lightning is for me the masterpiece
Can't believe this record has turns 40 this year (I'm getting old LOL)!!! I for one know this record is very special. Cliff added so much more color to his bass parts (especially in Ktulu) and is why he is my hero, plus he's why I picked up bass at 13 in 1989. Rob does a good job trying to capture his inner Cliff, and I think he did. Obviously James' voice is a lot different than it was when he first sang these songs, but he still gives his all. And NO ONE has more "chug" on rhythm guitar like Het! Kirk is still the magic hamster that brings those classic solos to life, he is such a stellar shredder (well excluding Dank Anger). What can really be said about Lars that has not already been said. He is a metal legend. I've heard Ride the Lightning hundreds of times since I learned of Metallica (or Mettallica if you are Brian Slagel) in 1985, and to this day I still jam on my bass along with this record. It feels as epic as ever.
That is such a cool concept for a video!! Thank you for the upload mate! I was there in Hamburg for both nights and I lost my shit when they played Ktulu. I could barely move my neck and head from all the headbanging once the shows were over😂 Metallica only gets better with age and I'll still catch every concert of theirs that I can. Also, the new songs sound AMAZING live. I was so impressed with how Lux, You must Burn and the other tracks sounded live.
Glad you liked it! I went to the two opening concerts from the M72 tour in Amsterdam. And witnessed the live debut of 72 seasons, IDHAS, YouMB, ScreamingS and Sleepawalk. Unforgettable! And they all sounded way better live than the studio recordings.
37:41 i dont know why they dont keep this part going for at least 90sec-2min and motion the whole crowd to sing DIE louder and louder, pumping them up, telling them to sing it, and make it be bad ass to remember forever.

I saw this show in may ‘85 in Chicago! I just remember laughing my ass off when it started! It was so fucking heavy!!! Cliff didn’t stop headbagging and James had a voice back then! A few concerts in my life I wish I could go back and see again that would have been one of them!
1. He couldn't hit the notes 10 years ago. 2. It's the wimpiest, lowest energy, barely a metal song on the album. 3. It's not fun to play on the guitar and the rest of the parts are pretty low fun factor too. It's a pleasant song, but it's just not a good song for Metallica, IMO, and apparently the band feels similarly. If I were in the audience I would feel a lull considering the number of good to great songs they have. Hear that one and miss out on a better one? I'm not a fan of anything beyond Masters, well, fine, a few of the Black album I liked back in the day, but I would rather hear some of their better newer songs than Escape other than if they were to do a tour where they played the entire RTL at once.
I immediately jumped at the chance to listen to Escape live since they ignored the classic for decades...whew that was brutal trying to get through that, waiting for a bright spot in there somewhere that never happened. Nothing but darkness & the sound of nails on chalkboard and a fork scratching on a dinner plate...
Even though Rush + Led Zeppelin are my two “go-to”s, Metallica is my 3rd favorite band, and “Ride The Lightning” is my all-time favorite studio album by ANYONE. I’ve seen Metallica “LIVE” 2x, was supposed to go on this current tour, however, I had to sell our tickets to pay for my medical bills for my heart attack (happened 4/28/23, we’re supposed to go in November ‘23 to both shows in St. Louis). I pray to God that Metallica will tour again in the near future, and my son + I will be able to see them again. Maybe in ‘27 for my 60th birthday: wouldn’t that be great? Thank you for providing these videos: LOVE Metallica-always have, always will🤘🏻😃🤘🏻
I bought kill em all .. back in 83.. but I had the demo.. no life to leather.. which was only four songs before kill em all came out back in 82 .. and I had bought metal Massacre .. which had the first original version of Hit the Lights On It.. in 82 that's what turned me on to them and then I found the demo and then kill them all came out
YES he is ABSOLUTELY underrated and far and away the best bassist Metallica has had since Cliff Burton. It's no coincidence that since the minute Trujillo joined the band their music has improved significantly beyond the Load and Reload years.

Nothing but darkness & the sound of nails on chalkboard and a fork scratching on a dinner plate...

Wow man ❤😮
Thank you. :) Like all their early stuff timeless. :)
Incrível show, especialmente o início de The Call of Kthulu.
thank u
Excellent 😊
Thank you for providing these videos: LOVE Metallica-always have, always will🤘🏻😃🤘🏻
back in the mid 80s, Thinking this music isnt for old people. But look at him go. SirJames
I bought kill em all .. back in 83.. but I had the demo.. no life to leather.. which was only four songs before kill em all came out back in 82 .. and I had bought metal Massacre .. which had the first original version of Hit the Lights On It.. in 82 that's what turned me on to them and then I found the demo and then kill them all came out
I love the way the ffwf riff was played
Thanks for the upload God Bless😊😊😊
Thanks for listening🤘
Rob is killing it in The Call of Ktulu
he's a machine and so underrated.
YES he is ABSOLUTELY underrated and far and away the best bassist Metallica has had since Cliff Burton. It's no coincidence that since the minute Trujillo joined the band their music has improved significantly beyond the Load and Reload years.
The outro of Ktulu....goosebumps!
Great upload!! Thank you
Nice compilation bro. Thanks for sharing !!!
