I got really drunk and was staggering out to garage with my cheap ebay trunnion upgrade kit when the 9 year old neighbor kid asked me what I was doing . I bet him 5 bucks he couldn't install all the trunnions in 1 hour . I had no idea he was going to hammer them in on the floor . That was $69 + $5 dollars not well spent .
Great Video, Love that your capturing the Original Needle Bearing Cup with a Large Snap Ring, Not just replacing a Bearing with a Lower Performance Bushing Will add that to my BTR Purchase Order
So is the upgrade only good for bearing retention? As more lift is given on a cam I still see the bolt head being a point of interference. What was the original intent for the upgrade, bearing retention or unrestricted rotation for more lift?
Need some help. Some of the rockers I feel resistance when free spinning, and 2 of them don’t spin at all. They are pressed in letter out. This my second kit first one no problems. How do I press out the bearings on these
BTR talks about upgraded 12-point mounting bolts yet the last few trunion kits and complete rocker arm kits I recently received all had the allen-head mounting bolts. Maybe BTR went back to the other style bolt. Either way, this is not a problem as both bolts are high-strength. Also, to highlight the ridiculous inflation caused by the criminals in Congress, the Harbor Freight arbor press used to cost $30, 6 years ago when this video was made. Now, the same arbor press costs $70. Send a 'thank you' email to your local and state representatives to let them know how you feel about the performance of your public servants.
Did the kit come direct from BTR? There are lots fake branded parts around. If you got it from someone that claims to be a BTR dealer , contact BTR to make sure they are a dealer and that recent kits come with allens.
When doing the trunnion upgrade on a LSX is it important to note what each cylinder(1-8) the rocker came from and if it came from intake or exhaust, like to would with the pushrods and rockers during just a cam swap?
Cole Blasing ever find out an answer? I finished mine but didn’t take any chances and made sure they were from the exact positions I pulled them off of. Interested to see if it had any effect thanks man
You should keep them in the same positions as they have developed a wear pattern on the tip of the rocker with the valve. It's always a good idea to keep things in the same order that wear against each other.
How do you remove our trunnions? You could use a 12 point socket that's larger than the OD of the bearing, sit the machined side of the rocker on that socket, then use another socket that's smaller than the ID of the bearing to press the trunnion out. It's best to replace the bearings when removing trunnions, but can be done without replacing them.
Why does this intro feel like a at work safety training video lol
HHahhhhhaaa
Better than off brand heavy metal acid rock on many of these you tube channels
Great vid. Short, sweet, and simple
I like this idea great job, I would love to use this on my up coming 5.3 build.

Are you in the habit of broadcasting your stupidity to the world, or was this just a one time slip up? Whattadumbshit
@@milojanis4901 Well maybe it was educational for the kid, learned something about mechanics that day. Gotta look at the positives man.
Needed a block of wood and hammer
Is this necessary for just a daily driver? Or just high performance applications? Thanks.

Good info and straight the the point!
Replacing a needle bearing with a needle bearing and snap ring for more than a ball bearing. Someone tell me I'm wrong lol
