Drift Cuda Hits the Drag Strip! 500 HP 6.4 Hemi
Вставка
- Опубліковано 22 чер 2022
- We've been blasting to get my 'Cuda ready to hit the track for a local charity race, Race4thehouse. The car hasn't seen any action in a few years and it's NOT setup for Drag racing but with 500HP it should still do the damn thing, right?!

I’m not a Mopar guy but do appreciate them. I really like the style of your Cuda. It’s like a retro pro touring car. It’s awesome.
Thanks!!
Can't wait to see his 2nd Gen camaro on the track
fuck the mustang and the Camaro, the cuda is the best looking car ever made! really any Mopar! satellite, roadrunner, super Bee, duster, demon, valiant, whatever!!!!! they're all so much better looking cars! pure class and style and ageless/timeless good looks!
@@rustybritches6747 Damn fella, calm down!! You're going to get your britches in a bunch..
Really enjoying your content and the new channel, Tony.
Much respect to you for making the decision to leave an established set up with MotorTrend to venture out on your own and be close to your family and those little girls that are growing up fast!
I also appreciate that you still pay respect to your old comrades at RK, RKG and HRG. Often that doesn't happen when people go in a different direction for whatever reason, and it's good to see those friendships still stand even if you're not seeing or working with them as much as you did.
I enjoy your take on these projects and the different approach you have compared to the old work....lots of knowledge and information and plenty entertaining at the same time.
I look forward to future videos (dogs are a plus, Steve Dulcich would be proud) and more great/ unique cars as the channel keeps growing. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for all the kind words man! I appreciate it! Glad to be home, and working on the channel!
Going to miss the Tony + Lucky show. Best content on motortrend along with Jason Cammisa's work.
well said
I hate that you’re not on HRG anymore, that was one of my favorite shows, but this format really suits you dude, keep it up! Loving the show and all the interesting projects!
Also I think the Drift Cuda may be my favorite car you’ve built, glad to see it back! I would love to do a demon or duster in a real aggressive street style like that
the broom stick is the most under rated tool in any workshop. also great for clutch plate alignments
I dig the actual banter between you and you buddies, my vote is more vlog style less production style
More car builds. Love the fabrication and what Tony, skudz, and goeff, did for their friend mark who passed.
His whole life is fabricated from production what do U expect ? me not much
Good seeing you down in PA at the Race for the House, great car, I can’t wait to see more on it. That was one of the best races I’ve been to out of the hundreds of races I’ve seen. Great time, highly suggest it, I’ll be back next year
I remember seeing this thing at SEMA and thought Fyeah a classic muscle car/drift car. So glad to see you get back at it. I see so many SEMA builds just slapped together for the show then disappear into storage probably for the same reason you said, burntout compromises and corners cut to make the show. Stoked man!
Agreed.
Tony.... As the owner of my '73 Barracuda (currently being transformed into a '71 Cuda tribute) since 1975 and the parent of a Drexel U graduate, totally agree that the 'Cuda is "the best coolest muscle car of all time".
Fishtail is badass, musclecar people usually put a high priority on engine performance and neglect the archaic suspension and brakes. Your cuda is how i like to see the money spent. Nice job on the underside.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this episode! Thank you Tony.
So cool to see this thing again my dude. I think it's pretty badass you helping out with the charity too, fucking awesome!
Love that you show everything, mistakes, replans, etc - warts and all.
Tony, it's nice to be able to watch you wrench and have fun. Especially when I don't have to pay for a subscription. There's no sponsor budgets. But that just means you can build what you want, how you want. And on your own time frame.
Awesome car. And now that you can spend some time tweaking it and making it how you envisioned. It's just gonna get better
It sounds amazing. I also love the vintage paint schemes on both vehicles.
I forgot how damn well the colours look on the cuda. Nice to see you bringing it back tony
I feel like each video you make is getting better and better. Keep up the good work.
Glad to see you are getting the Cuda back out, I saw it at SEMA, followed the build on HRG and own 2 E bodies (73 Cuda and 70 Challenger RT)
Love the episode and the car! Your editing is getting better and better every episode.
I remember when Plymouth came out with the '70 Cuda! It was AMAZING! I never was able to afford one, back then or now, but I think that they are the best-looking of all the pony cars.
Loved the build videos for this. Great to see it again!
Love the channel. Can't wait to see that firechicken run!
Great show Tony! My dad had a 340 cuda when I was young and its made me want a mopar my whole life. Gbodys are what I can afford though. The get away malibu you and lucky built on HRG is cool as heck! keep up the good work!
New to the channel, actually found you through Finnegans 2019 Drag Week win (specifically, man handling that trans after the week you both had.... F'n A dude!!!) and your work on Roadkill... Liking the new stuff buddy, keep it up!
Can’t believe it was 2016 you brought the Cuda to SEMA! Huge fan of the build and I remember at the time having a hard time finding photos or coverage online on it. One of my favourite builds out there!
Man, I love everything you’re about, and get the whole package, but can’t comprehend letting that badass crate motor just sit untouched for so long that mice took up residence. Any car guy knows that letting it sit for extended periods is one of the worst things you can do to a car. Maybe the modern gaskets don’t dry out like the old cork ones did, but good grief, you get handed this awesome dream engine and mice become squatters? C,Mon. I KNOW you know better. Nice car. Nice build. I’m sure you know that despite setbacks, turmoil, hardships, existential doubt, and so on, you are living the dream. I just watched the Sick Week with the Firebird, and that was awesome. I was deeply impressed with your resolve to continue to do the right thing even when a lot of people would have taken shortcuts. Like changing the pulley for the street, checking all aspects of the valve train when there was a question, the lot. You have a fan in me. Hanging the hoops on a street driven car had to be quite a feeling. The trouble you had with the fuel pump was bewildering, and I’m not sure if I ever did grasp what ultimately was wrong. Anyway, you rock, don’t let that mill sit babe. Varmints can do damage that you might not see till it costs the whole shebang. Especially wit these composite pieces, they can gnaw through concrete, plastic is nothing for them. Imagine a sliver of plastic getting stuck between the piston and cylinder wall. Ughhh!!!
Welcome back Drift Cuda! Looking forward to more vids on that guy, fun car!
"Drift 'cuda" is badass sentence tight there. ✌️🇦🇺
Great video. and you @tanglo have the audio dialed in man, looks like a fun event!!
Glad to see you working on the Cuda. It's a cool Cuda, just need some time to work out all the kinks.
Awesome video. Those flyby sounds are making me sad, my local track, Moroso in South Florida, recently closed down 😢. Also bringing back some real good memories though
Mate, this was the best "Shock spring adjustment montage" I have ever seen :-)
Awesome job,, just remember we are here for the cars and builds. Having a great attitude helps 👍🇺🇸 keep at it
Your Fishtail is my all time favorite since your introduction at Sema, what a niiiiiiiiice car, and i remember watching you drift this on motortrend i guess, that was epic.
The best part of this video is the part where I remembered I opened a fresh beer and only taken a sip from it.
This isn't a ent anlut the video about boring.
It's a comment about how much I like beer and convenience.
Love the cuda! Your demon is so awesome 2, my brother had a 71 340 4 speed 😈 and it was the yellow with black stripes. He had a 70 challenger rt/se as well plum crazy purple and had a indy headed 440 with a 727tq with a manual valve body. He sold it yrs ago and just bought a 71 challenger that looks identical, has a pistol grip 4 speed and a 440 stroked to 500 inches!!! Very cool mopar!!! Love all you do, rock on 🤘!!!!
In my 28 years of wrenching I've only ever used butyl tape (AKA: Dum Dum Tape) for everything automotive except for mounting glass to body. Glad to see this project moving along 👍
That's probably the best engine I've heard on UA-cam. Fantastic.
Tony your cuda is bad ass man we need to see some more action with that car. It’s been tucked away for way too long now time to get it out
Sad to see you go from HRG but excited to see where you’re going to take this channel. Keep up the good work!
Hello Tony the Cuda still looks awesome can't wait to see it again Wishing you and your family well Take Care
Great seeing you support our favorite cause!
Love it. Awesome job 🍻👍
I love Tony. He’s a MOPAR guy, through and through.
Terrific video!!!
Thank you!!
Only thing missing is the rest of the hoonigans, loved the cross over episode! Great format so far very good content!
That Merc wagon won his class in the nostalgia race at Cecil in 2019. Love your cuda!
Cudas are cooool. The 1971 yellow cabrio Cuda that Don Johnson drove in "Nash Bridges" was awesome.
The Editor gets it DONE! I was almost up and dancing... and watching!
Thanks! He's killing it.
Dialing in bump steer will be even less fun than fitting that dash haha happy to see the non glorious but super important work getting done
HAhah, right? It will be great when it's done.
Denny is a beauty for having you drive his Chevelle. I would be interested in seeing a build breakdown of that, there are so many 1000+ hp cars on youtube but a reasonable 350hp drag spec car is so cool and gets no coverage!
Right on!! And it ran really good! A car running 12.72 is no slouch.
Love the suspension stuff, loved when you were doing it on HRG. I can sort of get why it’s hard for people to get excited about suspension, it’s not as sexy and some big chop from a sweet drivetrain.
Fishtail Cuda is definitely one of the sickest hot rods ever built. Wild full race car!
Awesome event wish I would have heard about it, I’m from state college area about 3 hours out! Sorry about the Cuda acting up man, it is a sweet car! Loved the Hot Rod garage episodes with it👍🏼
Loved seeing all the old school muscle cars!!
Love that you said Bucket list car! love it
This channel kicks so much ass. Every time a video pops up it's like, oh let's hang out with uncle Tony, the rad Gen X racer.
Ok I’m gonna say it…. WE NEED MORE DRIFTING FROM THE CAR!
GOAT CUDA! Everything is great such and amazing tasteful build. Definitely one of my favorite builds from you tony.
Much appreciated, It will get there eventually!
Too bad the Cuda wasn't happy, but look forward to further adventures with it. Good stuff Tony
I remember when you built this for Sema, really cool to see you get back into it and make it even better!
Funniest thing? The E-body was a cut down chassis B-body and the accountants didn't let the engineers tune the suspension. The best SCCA & rally cars they ever had were A-bodies. Look up Scott Harvey and "Starfish Racing;" also a guy named Mike Ritz out of SW Washington State and his vintage Barracuda racer Scott Harvey give insight on...Scott was a Chrysler engineer
The fact that you don’t have 2 million subs is mind blowing but it will happen. I was supper happy when you went youtube only but im sure that was a leap when you have a family. I think as you tune how you want your content to be seen, T/A is on your way to one of the biggest UA-cam channels out there.
Thanks man! We are just getting started!
been waiting to see this beast!
I love the Subrosa T shirt!! Represent the bmx scene.
Thanks Tony, remember to enjoy what you do a bugger deadlines. Would be fun to see that young silver hair friend from LA pop out to help with the wiring. Have fun thanks again
Sweet i was wondering when we'd see this one again!
Great cage!
A+ for the cage builder.
The cuda is one of my very very favorite old hot rods. I love it!!!!
I can't believe you're still in Pennsylvania. I can't wait to leave this state to move move to the SW, Arizona, Nevada, Utah. However, glad to see Fishtail is still going strong.
Ya know, I gotta know why you left the west coast for Pennsylvania. Seems like where you were and what you were doing was a dream opportunity.
this channel is becoming my favorite watch really fast
Thanks! We are having a blast pumping this stuff out. Want more action and some more speed soon!
@tony your approach to the rear suspension applies to irs but not so well to solid axles. The control arm angles can provide "anti squat" which would actually push the tire down into the track if you set the shocks the same as you did the front. Separate fast, resist compressing. Plant the tires and keep them planted
I was looking for this comment. You saved me from having to make it my self. 👍
Always loved the fishtail !!! But miss Lucky you and him were so much fun !!!!
Dude cool to see this thing in person and get to say Hi to a local TV star haha the Grove rules ill look for you at the fall swap meet
I clicked on this video because that's the most clever channel name ever lmao. How have I never seen this channel?
Hopefully this lights the fire in Tony.
I was so stoked on this build because Tony was so into it and it was heartbreaking to hear he burnt out on it.
I haven't been to Maple Grove in a few years but I need to get back there. I went to every National event for 15 yrs in a row plus the Ford, GM & Mopar events or just a any reg drag weekend, love the Amish kids up on the hill watching the racing 🏁
Fishtail cuda is one of the coolest mopar builds for sure!
Love this channel mate, keep it up Tony.
Thanks, will do!
I love the Cuda ! I have a 6.4 swapped 2005 single cab Ram . So much fun! 😎 💪 💪
Loving the content T/A!!!
That was an awesome show you guys did and that is a fantastic car
Thanks! I want it to work better SO badly! We will get there.
looks like a fun event! I'd like to see what fishtail can do with a fresh clutch and a set of slicks!
It's just shows its all in the tune!!!
Love the content. Keep it up.
85 degrees….lol! Love seeing the Cuda back.
Love this car!! Makes me miss my 73
Great video guys 👍👍🇨🇱
Been waiting for this to show up on the channel!!! Fuck yeah man.
I’ve been waiting for this
Glad this is finally getting out and moving. The story of this car is an example of why I usually ignore SEMA cars, so many are a show car that was rushed to get to the show and either aren’t driveable when they get there or don’t get driven after. What is the point of a car that can’t be driven or doesn’t get driven?
It's great to have some East coast hot rod representation. 🤘
EDIT: That comet wagon is friggen rad as hecc
Tony!!! You rock yo!!
I hope you're still going to work with Lucky every now and then.
Congrats on the channel.
Family comes first!
Thumbs up! Tony and Crew!
I love that cuda that is the favorite thing I had on Hot rod Garage. I hope you start doing stuff with it I would love to see it ripping up tracks
that definitely looked fast, and cool.
wow 2016! feels like only a couple years ago I was watching the build.
Great now have to get one finally
Great video. Bless you for doing something other than a historic restoration. I have owned my 70 since 89 and been through a number of builds. I am aiming for a rod course approach now. So tired of the Mopar purists with the 1 of 2 in the universe mentality, just to build out stock based cars with a few add-ons. Good luck as you progress through the build. Hoping more Mopars get out there with more than a few bolts-ons.
Thanks! Yeah, cars are cars, let's have fun with em!
Sweet car!
Totally stoped mid video to go listen to some of live fast eat trash definitely impressed lol.
