Love the idea of getting this car to usable as opposed to ‘restoration’. These builds are more realistic for what most people will actually do with their old cars. Great work gentlemen
Episode idea: VGG style revival of something drift worthy. Drive it straight from being revived to a drift event and throw down with it. That would be awesome. @StayTunedTA
When Tony ripped that piece off the firewall exposing the rust, I was like "OH DAMN!" its much worse than they thought, but the Stay Tuned crew will get it all proper in no time! The disk brake conversion is totally the way to go. This old Dodge is going to have a second life it never could have dreamed of. Keep up the great work.
I drove a 64 Polara 500 through college back in the 70’s it was mint and I pad $300 for it. It had a 318 black interior and a metal flake teal factory paint that would oxidize in 10 minutes after waxing but it was bullet proof I drove it to death then sold it to a savage yard for 85 bucks….ah memories…
I love the authentic way your videos show what it actually takes to create a hot rod. This is what it's like to work on cars. I work at a retailer (that you mention) and believe me some of those people could learn something. Plus, you and your team are funny and entertaining. By the way, you look a little bit like my boss but with hair.
We’ve been talking about this car at our shop since you found it. Gonna be awesome to see it rolling around. I’ll always have a soft spot for old Mopar. Don’t lose the shop on this one!!
That car is so bad ass I love those early 60's Mopars even the "Ugly ones" Like the 1962 Darts and Fury's they make awesome hot rods with a big block or hemi in them.
If the 383 is a factory 4 barrel, it is the HP383. My 67 Newport has one. 335hp in the muscle cars, 330hp in the c body yachts. Check the casting number on the heads. If the last three are 516 they are high compression closed chamber heads. BUT unless someone’s modified them they will eventually burn exhaust valves from unleaded gas (no hardened seats). Ask me how I know.
Hey Tony, I worked at an auto parts store in my early 20's and sold a lot of Dorman parts back then, I'm going to be 70 next month, so Good Ol' Dorman has been around quite awhile.👍👍👍
There is a guy here that rolls one of those cool mopars. White, red interior, 70's stance, steelies with dog dishes, and a 440 with attitude. Just a very legit, cool ride. It's nice to see you putting yours back on the street. And for what it's worth, this channel is a lot more fun to watch than Hot Rod Garage ever was. Not that you guys didn't build some cool stuff, but now it's just you and your crew rolling real, without the hollywood vibe. Rock on!
Every time I see people working on early 60's Mopars it makes me miss my '63 Custom 880 more and more...that thing had 2.36 gears, a 383 2bbl, pushbutton 727, and got like 16mpg on the interstate...it was such a cool cruiser car to just hop into and drive anywhere...
You just made my day, been stuck at home sick for 3 days, would much rather be wrenching on cars at work or on my project out in the driveway... I've been fighting the boredom mostly by rewatching old Stay Tuned episodes. I know of you from your stuff with Hot Rod & just found your channel this year, gotta say it's become my favorite channel... I love this body style of Mopars & always love beater musclecars so any uploads you do on this project is even better 👍
When you mentioned the springs trying to take your face off all of a sudden I was having flashbacks of holding one with some needle nose pliers, trying to get the end over the post only to lose my grip on it and have it disappear over my shoulder. Good times. 😆
This thing is super cool! Why I like it so much is that I'm a '70s kind of guy (class of '74) and cars like these were affordable and what all us young guys drove for our daily's. I'm digging the black steelies too but I would have run the RWL outside and added chrome lug nuts because back in the day when we couldn't afford "mags". We just pulled the hub caps off the stock wheels and ran new rubber.
had a polara 500 the same year in 1972 when i was 17, loved that thing, old guy backed out in front of me and wrote it off . could not find another until after i retired and by that time they were all more than i could afford
Thanks for reviving yet another MoPar that likely was headed for scrap. This and the 1963 MoPar body style are my fav's of all time. So happy you gents put this beauty SAFELY with upgrades back on the road. Whether or not you keep it, whomever does end up owning it will enjoy sharing it with MoPar fans for many, many years to come.
Drum brake master cylinders typically have a residual pressure valve built in, so the wheel cylinders don’t bleed back into the master. So if the pads end up dragging, or locking up, that’s probably why.
When we were 15ish my friend had a four door car just like that. We would drive around gettin you know (hi) and having a blast. We lived in southhampton in bucks county ,we might even been in you end of town. That was the 70s tho
Hey, guys, I always love your enthusiasm to getting stuff done. Tony and crew, you guys are the best. Love what you guys do always looking forward to new episodes
I have the same excitement that you have when I purchased my 440, 20 years ago, I still have my car, it now has a 440 in it with aluminum mopar cylinder heads, Indy dual 4 barrel carbs, aluminum rods, solid lifter cam and rocker arms, the last time I competed in the nostalgia ss stock event the car went 10:60 in the quarter. Go mopar!
Been packing tapered bearings that way since I was a kid. To save yourself the mess of trying to wash your hands after packing all the bearings so you’re able to handle the rotors to assemble it all on the car, wrap the rotor braking surface with SaranWrap before ever touching the grease. You can go thru the whole process without having to clean up till the end when you knock the dust caps on. The cling wrap comes off easily and has saved a boatload of time for me over the years.
Again , you’ve really stepped up the show . This is what we all love. Realistic builds , real hot rods . Loved the rust repair man. Serious . I’m watching your show ahead of any motor-trend show on my motor trend app and Vice grip garage today. Keep up the excellent work!
Very happy to see another MOPAR in your shop to keep your Demon company!!👍 Excellent move upgrading to all wheel discs AND newer style 3rd member!! Can't wait to see what you guy's have planned for this cruiser!! Stay safe!!
Another great car added to the stay tuned fleet. Time to get some of the cars in the fleet out here and have some fun with them. You know how the saying goes…. All work and no play….plus winter will be hitting you before you know it, so get out there and enjoy them!
My heart swells with pride Guys. My dad was friends with Jimmy Arnold who at one time owned the Color Me Gone racecar . That car sure favors it. Keep up the great content GODBLESS GOODLUCK AND GODSPEED❤
I love that they capture the wildly unhinged nature of a bunch of friends wrenching in a garage. Feels just like when I do it, just with better cars and tools 😅
I LOVE this car. I wish they had made those disc brake kits back when I had my '64 Chrysler New Yorker 413/727 PB. I don't know if they make them for the old C bodies, but I would have snagged them for sure.
Mr. B. Here ! You guys are real pro’s, Mr. Angelo watching you do the right thing makes me feel better about many things I have done with my cars ! The Mrs. Would shoot me for $$$$ send , but I did it right . Nice job guys, many thanks ! 🍕🍺🍕🍺🍕🍺👀😎👍
KILLER!!! I’m looking at a 1/24 scale one I built right now, it’s the “color me gone” drag car….. even though it’s an old Lindbergh (generally cheaper) kit, it’s a very nice kit! I have another, the “Ramchargers” car… I love this project!!! Love the old mopars! Have been shopping for a real one for myself, but damn are they expensive!!!
I think it sounds awesome.. All My dad would own was Mopars. He had a 67 Coronet for the longest time and then a 71 Charger, Then a aries 4 Cyl lol.. Seing those old Mopars reminds me of him.
Let’s go tony. 🤘🤘Loving these long episodes bud great format. Y’all are doing great work.
Glad you like them! Really appreciate it!
Awesome episode

Tony agrees: "Lets put some miles on it; and see.what blows up next."
DON'T LOSE THE SHOP!!!
I'm doing my best! We finished shooting this like 2 hrs ago!
Episode idea: VGG style revival of something drift worthy. Drive it straight from being revived to a drift event and throw down with it. That would be awesome. @StayTunedTA
It's very important to me that you don't lose the shop. Or eat bad pizza.
WE'RE GONNA LOSE THE SHOP
Just buy TX/NV/NM/CA cars. ID/WY/CO cars are also usually alright, and FL/LA if they've not spent time on the beach/in the swamp.
When Tony ripped that piece off the firewall exposing the rust, I was like "OH DAMN!" its much worse than they thought, but the Stay Tuned crew will get it all proper in no time! Dam this dude is turning into my spirit animal with these builds 😅
Did we just become best friends?!

Tony, you guys are killing the content! love the engine & sick car such cool unique style . Motivational
Thanks so much! it's a weird one but I love it.
Always loved everything Tony is involved in, and this is no different
Lol "I'm basically like a car dentist right here." -Tony
Don't forget the cop tires and cop shocks!
It's a model before catalytic converters, so it'll run good on regular gas.
Fix the damn cigarette lighter!

Ha, maybe one day! Or see ya at an event sometime!
@@dixonmopar2129 of course for free!
Dude mad props on your production value! Noticing the improvements in audio, lighting, and framing!!
I noticed the framing, too. The cameraman is getting in there and getting close ups on stuff more often, which I like
Yep now just edit out the "you ready/yeah" and you guys are almost becoming a professional show like motor trend 😂
BTW just kidding not polish up too much and let the money ruin ya when it comes 😂

"my dentist coming in with a screwdriver like this"
Angelo: "last day of work"
I choked on my drink 😂😂😂
Disc brakes are going to be a great improvement. My 64 Polara hated hills lol.
It's GREAT so far. I can't wait to put more miles on this hog.
Drum brakes are the worst. Even when they're not rusted to hell, they're still a pain just to change the shoes.
That car is so bad ass I love those early 60's Mopars even the "Ugly ones" Like the 1962 Darts and Fury's they make awesome hot rods with a big block or hemi in them.
I swear Fridays are the best for automotive UA-cam
Excellent Rusto Mod Tony.
These rusty Pennsylvanian cars are relatable to us UK viewers! No California cars here, all our stuff looks like this. Really enjoying the videos guys

Yes! That's killer. They are a good old PA company, I think they've been around 100 years?
Love the Dodge symbols on the interior!
I am by no means a mopar guy but that is one cool daily! the fact that it sat for 20 years and now its mobbin around town is epic!
