What a total legend you are Gregg - infectious personality, endless knowledge and just a brilliant story teller - thank you for all you’ve done for the drumming community. Massive respect !
I got the privilege of hanging out with Gregg for a day when I was a freshman in college. He was at our school for a day of percussion to do a clinic and play with the jazz band. While everyone else was toiling away setting up marimbas and vibraphones, I somehow was the one who got to pal around with Gregg. We went to a local hardware store together to get a wing nut for his cymbal case. He was (is) so incredibly kind, humble, and was just a genuine joy to be around. Not to mention being an absolutely phenomenal musician!! I'll never forget that day and I always tune in to the Drumeo videos when he's featured. Thanks guys for this amazing content!
I could watch you play drums all day Gregg as well as listen to your amazing stories.
Such an unbelievable drummer and a very humble, funny guy too.
A legend 🙏
Gregg is an incredible treasure for all drummers.
In 1964, Ringo bought a Ludwig Oyster Black " Super Classic " set. This was the set he would use for the bulk of his Beatles career.
Yoooo great to see Greg bissonete he was so much fun to play with at drumathon 2022
Video 15 of commenting until Drumeo makes a "Best Rudimental Drummer of the Year" award category
yo
get this man his category!
Not that kind of drumming!
I love this guy!
lol 😂 give this man what he needs lol
Such a great drummer, educator and person!
I can listen to Gregg all day. What an infectious personality and all-around great guy. Excellent episode, fellas.
Gregg is such a great musician and performer!
Gregg B is one of my absolute favourites. Thank you for such a great show. And great job to Drumeo. These are such entertaining and educational videos.
Gotta love Gregg man, his energy is so contagious it's making me smile like a doofus
I really really enjoyed this segment guys. Just outstanding! Thanks to Gregg and all the Ringo stories. Great job Drumeo! :)
Ringo and George are my favorite Beatles. This is a great episode. Peace
These are Fantastic!! I bought a few and now can customize to get Exactly the sound I want! Love this product!!!
Great discussion. I learned a lot, and Gregg is the man. Seems like he's really buds with you guys!
Drum department got a jingle!!!
Finally, thank you guys I was watching it live and unfortunately later on it disappeared ! Now, I’m eventually able to continue to watch it until the end and I’m so grateful because actually Gregg is so funny and also full of interesting experiences. 🙂
Gregg is a great person! I loved that vídeo.
This is the BEST! Thanks and Blessings y'all....
I used to work for a music store in Boston that has since gone out of business. Gregg did many drum clinics at the store and couldn't have been nicer, always staying til well after the end to talk with drummers. That always impressed me.
Thanks for the awesome Drops review you guys! This made our day 🙌🔥🔥🔥
Awesome episode guys!! Caught it back from my own band's rehearsal.... Really cool wind down before going to bed... Dreams are going to be sweet tonight!!!
This is amazing! Such energy!
John Bonham maybe my favourite but I started playing drums because of Ringo! Ringo is just fantastic.
Gregg is awesome. Keep coming back!
Gregg is one of my favorite drummers. He is a working man's drummer that can play numerous styles and able to adapt to whatever the artist wants. He reminds me of drummers like Hal Blaine, who can play with any type of musician and is always in demand.
Man, the 1 crash on his left sounds Fab!
Gregg is always so much fun to listen too :-D
What a great guy and drummer!
Get Ringo ON!!!
@@DizzyJerk cool, to each their own
I actually got to see Gregg live here in Germany while that mentioned Toto-tour in 1995. I still have the tour-shirt...
Gregg you are sooo great!!!
On Beatles Rock Band video game you had to learn "tomorrow never knows" the "right way" because it showed the crash never stopping. You would hear the game say you messed up if you ever stopped playing the 8th notes on the crash. So there for doubles on the left had for the toms was a requirement!
Great stuff!
Ive been a fan of Gregg since 1986. It started with David Lee Roth then I bought the live Maynard Ferguson album. I met Gregg at Berklee in 1993. He was ao cool. He gave me a pair of his sticks and his phone number in case I moved to LA. Hes still my drumming hero to this day.
A wonderful podcast. Particularly heartening was the discovery that Ringo (when presented with a tricky groove) would lock in to the SINGER & play to the vocals! Unlike you three gentlemen I'm not well educated musically---I've always played by ear. Now in my 70s, some of the most demanding rhythms I have have to play are in church. And Ringo's method has always been my own approach. (BTW: it was hearing Ringo's back-beat in "She Loves You" which finally persuaded me to give up the idea becoming another Elvis & play drums instead!)
I want ringo to come to drumeo so badly!!
I need that play-Doh Play Drums shirt Gregg! Gregg is so FN cool even if he gargles with Jack Daniel's and razor blades!
I feel like I was given a task. I will try to listen through as many of the Beatles records as possible. I know the famous songs, you know, but there seems to be so much more.
I've played Twist and shout, I want to hold your hand, while my guitar gently weeps and probably some other covers. The hard part is getting them right. I am not a champion and few are. Gregg is masterful in carrying on Ringo's legacy.
Gregg can takeover the late Dom's drum ambassdor role.
😊
Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney are one of the greatest rhythm sections ever.
I’d love to chat with Greg, seems like such a personable and accessible dude
Cuando van a hacer todos estos vídeos subtitulados o doblados al español?? Nos estamos perdiendo un montón de material increíble !!
I wish I could watch this but I have too much to do, so no more fan mail after the 20th of October. Thank you thank you. And no objects to be signed, nothing. Peace and love, peace and love ☮️
Ringo is quite simply The Greatest. No one does the job as good as he does. To paraphrase Dave Grohl, what defines a drummer? Is it the ability to play high tempo drum fills like Moon or Bonham or is it the ability to support a song and keep time? Ringo was the best at keeping time. Joe Walsh calls him a human metronome, and he confirms that as good as Keith Moon and John Bonham were, all they wanted was to be like Ringo.
Bonham isn't just high tempo drum fills 😂 Completely paraphrasing Grohl. Bonham is Grohl's favourite drummer.
Ringo has his merits, but I 1000% guarantee you that neither Bonham or Moon aspired to want to be Ringo. There's literally an interview here on UA-cam where Bonham says that you didn't go to a Beatles concert to listen to them play, you went to watch them.
@@Ash_Hudson I think it's a little more nuanced than that. These guys like Bonham and Moon went to "see" the Beatles when they were young, and very likely at that time they did want to be like Ringo.
But when they saw him, they realized that they could do what Ringo was doing, but take it way further. And they did.
Ringo is probably the most influential drummer of the last 60 years, and by that definition the "greatest" of the last 60 years.
But again, it is far more nuanced than that. And that's why we will discuss this for ages to come.
@@zachjacobs3337 Well, exactly. Limiting Bonham to just a guy who played fast tempo fills is funny to me though. I agree with what you're saying though.
the greatest.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Love Gregg
What happened to his and Brann's live streams?
Dudes, can't stop watching this, Gregg is literally the funniest drummer ever!!!
Another thing about Ringo, always the “same” fills but they are all different!
I would suggest that his drumming is extremely good. Not the best there is by quite a way because there are some stunning drummers around. I think though that because Ringo is left handed and used a right handed kit, he was able to produce a number of variations that no one could match. He had to use his shoulder more and at the time he started, most drummers used the kinda traditional grip rather than match grip in both hands.
The person to watch for this style of two different grip positions is Stewart Copeland, what he can do is stunning.
So I rate Ringo, just not as highly as a lot of people do.
I have an excelent idea for your " Hears For The First Time" series
Invite Matt Garstka to learn one of Anika Nile's tracks, I would love to see what kind of interpretation he comes up with for more tecnical/advanced music like what Anika makes (assuming he doesn't know Anika's music)
A old interview with Ringo Starr - he said he played ' Come Together ' the way he did because he's left handed .. and no other reason 😮😮😮
Damn I’m not even a drummer and this is awesome
"Best Beatles album?" "Hard Day's Night!" Based Gregg
I’m a simple guy, I see Gregg, I click on the video. Yo Greggggggggg, love you brother!
You got the first part right.
GREAT THAT THEY MENTION AND ESPECIALLY "STEWART COPELAND" FROM ( THE POLICE ) @25:00 AND THE SONG THAT WOULD GET ME WAS ( MISS GRADENKO ) WHEN THAT FIRST SNARE HIT COMES IN IT'S SO UNEXPECTED IN THAT SONG
King of Pain is tricky also
Ringo the GOAT!?!?!
What bass drum pedal does Ringo use? In his current set up
Need that “Play-Drums” shirt for my nephew. Looked online - nothing with that logo..
To me Ringo is the only drummer who correctly plays the drumming to Ticket to Ride correctly. Anyone else who plays it always just sound stiff
I got a gig at Taylor Hackford's son's club in New Orleans. He would shake my hand in a way where one of his fingers would jingle the upper bottom of it. It was a weird handshake like I was suppose to know what that meant or something. Was this some private club thingy or something? Letting me know of some cryptic code? Rio passed away sadly about 5 years ago. He liked our band enough to have us there. I thank him for that. Sad that he is no longer with us. Hey Greg. my question would be if there is some secret silence in the backrooms that were brewing that a separation needed to happen with humankind. We are better than you mentality flavor? I think that the masses are awakening up to that reality here obviously with the farmers worldwide and more
Or how about to the fact that Paul did pass away and the powers that be behind the Beatles could not let that money roll go dead. The Paul today is not the same as the original. Too many people know so try lying and in a few years will be caught not telling the truth honestly
Ringo Starr is the goat
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Do shut up. @@sebg2086

In My Life
John Bonham!!! Ringo was the most known rock drummer and was inspirational in that regard, but for what they actually played, it's not even close. No new drummer picks up a pair of sticks and starts playing rock, that they don't start trying to learn Bonham stuff.
0:04 I think that Neil Peart was more influential than Neil "Purt" 😛
👍👍👍
If Ringo is the Tea Towel Guy, does that make him Towlie from South Park 😉
Does Ringo play heal up or heal down?
Gregg could be Tre Cools big brother 😆
RINGO STARR MADE ME WANT TO PLAY DRUMS AND BE IN A BAND
&
BUDDY RICH MADE ME WANT TO BECOME A BETTER DRUMMER
No one did as much for LUDWIG ( or any brand) , as RINGO did.
Gregg is a goat
Drumeo staff members pronouncing the Professor's last name incorrectly is just sad.
I really hope they get Nic Peterson in sometime or at least get someone to learn a Northlane song!
Ringo is left handed playing right handed kit. Yet he has tremendous swing and speed with his right hand. I am also left handed playing a right set. Have worked for years trying to develop my right hand, still its not happening.
Invite Louis Cole, please
My big question for Ringo would be, "is Paul dead?"
NO way, don't agree with you at all.
It was differently John Bonham, without a doubt.
May he also rest in heavenly peace .....
Gone to soon, but he will never be forgotten ever.
Led Zeppelin forever and always!
Sorry to be pedantic, but Neil Peart's name is pronounced "Peert", not "Pert". Cool video otherwise!
Imagine being one of the most basic drummers, yet being hailed as one of the greatest of all time. What a fucked up world this is.
Neil Peart is the best no contest xD don't like beatles that much. although i know how big and important they are
first
P 👂 T!
*Bernard Purdie
The man’s name is pronounced ‘Peer-t’ not ‘Purt’. I knew Neil for 40 years, call him ‘Purt’ & he would politely correct you on the spot no matter who you are. Say it to him twice, then your conversation is over. He’ll just move on. Just slowly saunter away, too bad if you’re mid sentence, he was fair to all.
That aside, he was the most underrated & the best drummer in the world when he passed. RIP brother, we think of you & miss you.
It is so sad that you have no idea how to pronounce Neil’s name….so sad.
Greg is an amazing drummer, but he doesnt know anything about Ringos 60's drumming. Stop calling people to teach how to play like Ringo when they doesnt know anything about it. It just makes Ringos drumming look stupid. He tried to teach what Ringo did at the end of Long Tall Sally, but he simplified it and made it worst (if you doubt it, watch Ringo playing it at the Washington Coliseum Concert in 64). Search for the best US Beatles tribute band and invite the drummer. You guys are professionals and thats the second video of that channel thats an outrage to Ringo. If you want to learn how to play like Ringo, listen to his isolated drum tracks, see him playing at the Washington Coliseum Concert in 64, and watch the youtube channels of:
Abbly House, David Montis, Batmankozyy and Abbly House.
Buddy Rich ? Ringo ? C'mon !! Get out the 1950s.
DAVE!! You're a Canadian and you still can't pronounce Peart, as in Neil PEART correctly? (Pe-EAR_t)
Funny how non drummers, think Ringo is barely adequate. Very peculiar
As a drummer, bassist and guitarist, Ringo Starr is as basic as basic can get. Move aside, Meg White.
Influential? Yes. Overrated? Also yes.
People only think someone is 'overrated'......if they're not a fan ...!!!
If they ARE a fan, then they think the artist is UNDERrated......!!
And you are?
Love Gregg , cool bloke and amazing drummer..... but his scouse accent is rubbish!!😂
Ringo is just an average drummer that plays left handed.
