Jeff Porcaro is smiling, what a beat! Top tier band.
Man, there is no mediocre musician in this lineup. Even the vocal harmonies are spot on.
Lukather is a monster-he’s probably played on more sessions than any rock guitarist in history.
You're absolutely right
In his book he says he has done so many he really doesn't remember exactly how many but would guess it at around 1500+ sessions
@@michaelfederoff261 Im not with the "musician-lingo" What does a session imply? Because 1500 doesnt sound that many given the lenght of his career:)
It basically means that he has spent time in the studio contributing to a song with his character or style of guitar playing. I can hear his style of playing in the way I play because I have been playing Toto music all my life. He has paired with some of the best contemporary guitarists of our times to show exactly, what his unique rock 'n roll sound is. Larry Carlton, Lee Rittenour have recorded with him for this purpose too. He created and developed the bass line for the song 'Beat it' too and played with many others. His book is pretty insightful also.
@@svenjoelnordman
@@svenjoelnordmanPlayed on a studio album recording. Believe me, it's A LOT!
My favorite Beatle. Underated drummer. I have a greater appreciation for him as I get older.
A lot of drummers don’t rate Ringo but here he is, 83 years old playing Hold the line, which is not a easy song to drum to and make it sound like the record! Good effort Ringo.
There’s a second drummer for a reason. On Roseanna he’s playing quarter notes on the high hat instead of the shuffle. Ringo played for the greatest band ever, doesn’t mean he’s the greatest drummer ever
@@bengreenestocks I never said he was the greatest drummer ever.
my grandpa he is 82 yo and sadly he didn't recornize me, how I wish he can walk , playing drums will be too much
exactly. actualy he is a bad drummer.@@bengreenestocks
well Gregg is the reason it actually works here ;-).. not taking anything away from Ringo.. he is a great musical drummer. He is quite a genius.. not technically but musically! But actually all good drummer hold him in high regards. Its the one who are clueless that think he is " a bad drummer".
Steve Lukather is the man but they all are great musicians in their own right . What a band
The vocals in Africa ...amazing!!!
Ringo is the most likeable, friendliest and coolest drummer this earth can experience.
Steve Luthaker is a National Treasure that is so underrated!! Guy is a world class musician!! And Ringo is the coolest
It takes skill, and he has it. Keep it up.
I noticed the other day he doesnt get a close up in the Africa music video and everyone else does... I was disappointed to say the least.
Wat!
All the way through the 80's I was listening to and loving Lukather without even knowing who he was. Glad he's still around and sharing his music!
underrated? hardly🙄
Colin Hay on the Africa chorus - too good
Ringo is in his 80s and clearly enjoying himself. It's thanks to him that this type of concert is possible. He's still effortlessly cool and everyone there knows it. The rest of the band are all at the top of their games. There is no need to compare their performances as they all contribute in their own way to a totally cohesive experience.
Ringo has always promoted the younger bands with his steadfast drums. What a master! He is the only beatle that adapted. He gave so many bands a a boost beyond his time with humility and dignaty. God bless you sir Ringo. Toto rocks.
Toto, Men at Work, Average White Band. “Younger bands” from 40 years ago! Still rocking after all these years
Don’t think Lukather gets mentioned enough with the all time greats but he sure should be. Although his accomplishments are well known amongst musicians, his name should be mentioned right there with Clapton, Hendrix, Page, etc…
Not bad for a mature bunch of boys! Brilliant. Xx
Tienes toda la razón
Facts!
It doesn’t matter, those who know, KNOW!
eh... i'm a huge fan and we all know he's extremely talented but he is truly not in the same group as the "all time greats". clapton, hendrix, page and the like absolutely changed music with their playing styles and their catalogues go far deeper. kids pick up guitars to learn to play like them. the playing on 'toto IV' is not on the same level as 'zeppelin IV'. the playing on 'hydra' is not on the same level as 'are you experienced?' sadly, i'm sure very few have ever heard the 'rosanna' solo or even the 'beat it' riff and said "now i want to be a rock star!"
It's so cool to hear Luke sing the lead part of Africa! He does a great Paich impression! Love it!
Real musicians, real music, real tune, real feeling... Best years of my life ! Thank you, Toto. Warmest Greetings from 🇩🇯 ! 🙏🏾
When all these old guys will retire for good, it will be a big loss for the music. The music today is not at the same level at all. 52 years old here, it's a joy for my heart and soul.
I'll be 52 too in April 2024... And I've never felt so good or seen so clearly "looking back over my shoulder". 🙌🏾
I love it too, but at this live performance it's not all real. The voice at the chorus from africa for example.😅
Autotune all the way, but they are playing live instruments
"real" only if you can't hear auto tune... Dude with the saxophone sounds like a freaking robot half the time... Pretty lame
Greg Rollie always manages to make any group he is in sound smooth. The unsung hero of this performance.
Warren Ham is a BEAST. Not only can he play just about anything, his vocals are out of this world as well.
He played with Kerry Livgren in a band called A.D.
Also played with Kansas on the Vinyl Confessions tour.
And his and Michael Gleason's were outstanding.@@josephgallagher945
Man Ringo Starr might be the most likeable person on earth
Yep’ along with Sting, Capton, Elton John, Phil Collins, Gary Moore, Phil Lynott, Knopfler and the rest…
Many thanks to this Country for giving us all this music 🎶
@@xtofgcr7712Sting 😂? Summner is one of the prickliest bastards in the biz.
Bissonette on drums. Epic.
Colin Hay on guitar and VOCALS ...badass lineup..
Hard to believe Ringo is 83, just incredible to still be touring.
I think it's cause he took care of himself ya know? Or at least we don't hear wild RIngo stories but then again, look at Richards, he doped up BIG time and still going. Some of them are just built different I reckon
You're right. I wonder what's his diet!
@@monicap.ornopia4092 :Ringo spends a lot of money for his health-conditions.
Ringo says it's from having sex 3 times a day. He says it keeps him young and in good shape
Ringo is a freak of nature. He eats a very great lifestyle
Timeless music, pure and simple.
Toto Must have felt honored to have Ringo Starr (who is considered at least in MY book, rock and roll royalty), playing drums on 3 of their hits.
Steve is good friends with Ringo, they have played together alot
Geez , the amount of legendary talent on that stage is staggering.
Seeing Ringo hit the drums is an absolute pleasure. So underrated. Backbeat for the win..
Are they all f**kin underrated, who exactly underrates them ?
So underrated? What the heck is he even doing during Rosanna??? I love the Beatles and shall give credit when and where it is due, but Ringo is out of his musical depth on stage with these musicians!
Wow everyone just relax and enjoy the music. Sheesh....
@@jagchuk To whom are you referring? I enjoyed that video immensely! Luke and Bissonette are two of my favorite musicians!
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it as I did. Sorry to bother. I believe that even though Ringo is loved and respected his style became "out of style" with Bonham and Moon and Palmer dominant. People are again appreciative of Ringo's straitforward style.
Greg and Ringo on one stage. Epic!
That Africa song --- can never get tired of it!!! A classic of all classics!!!
Ringo never looks like he is working up a sweat. He just plays on and on.
Warren Hamm, so criminally underrated.
Ringo Starr. Definition of cool, just friggin cool..nice job dudes. Really nice.
This is the best goddam colab between bands ever, and can i say that ringo starr is probably in his eighties in this concert and still shredding
Very hard to believe Ringo is 83 & still doing this, but there he is !
well, nick mason does it, charlie watts did it, not to mention steve gadd and others. And they are/were actually playing, without the backup drummer.
what he is still doing? pretener ?
Warren Ham, what a musician and unsung hero of the session world too
Yes. Carried Kimball’s vocal parts well.
Warren Hamm is just magnificent really. An unsung hero.
Ringo's a machine. Still amazing after 60 years
What a special performance with all these great musicians ⭐👍
Ringo makes it look so easy, because for him it is, always was. He's the master in the room.
Man, Hold the Line, the way Lukather can rip through the solo and stick a perfect landing right back into vocals!
Lukather just a monster, holly shit, what a musician, scary good,
Luke still has the force.
One of the best musicians of all time.
It's great seeing Ringo out there holding down a solid beat but give credit where it's due. Greg Bissonette is carrying the full load on these songs. And doing it flawlessly!
Years ago I have been to Greg's masterclasses [2-3 times], he always started the lessons with: my dream is to play with my favourite drummer, Ringo Starr.
@@TheMonkBeatsOne Making this all the more special! That's awesome!
Absolutely lol
Greg Bissonette is playing the Jeff Porcaro Rosanna Shuffle, I don't know what Ringo is doing, Sounds like they turned Ringo's drum microphones off. LOL
@@RandySeverino Ringo is playing a straight and simple beat. But yeah, his mics do seem to be turned down a bit at the very least.
Was at this awesome show.Greek theater Ringo's all star band under the stars with the stars. Sublime!!!
I'm so blessed to have lived in the Rock Era in my younger years.
Long live Rock & Roll
Ive been disappointed recently at the low standards of some of my favorite old bands. These guys have restored hope. Quality all around
You can definitely tell who phones it in these days vs who still puts every ounce of themselves into a performance. This was nearly flawless.
Look at Gregg Bissonette way back there. Lovin life! And Gregg Rolie! Once of the best lineups Ringo has ever had.
Well, the lineup he was with before is the most successful group of all time with the greatest song writers of all time, so no, not quite.
He said ‘one of’ to be fair. But you’re right, Nowt is gonna beat the fabs.
If you consider the number of hits Luke has played on, I think he’s actually been involved with more hits than that other group Ringo had. He’s not just Toto’s guitarist.
Greg's Rosanna shuffle is the most accurate one!
I love how Bissonette helps Ringo to remember the songs and where to do the fills ....
Yep. Two drummers doing what Porcaro used to do by himself.....😮
Great to see Warren Ham singing harmony. He is an exceptional musician.
Steve and Warren Ham... The dynamic duo...
Steve is THE best guitarist EVER!
Warren Ham makes any group he’s playing with 10x better instantly. He brings so much support to the table.
These 70-year-olds showing everyone how it should be done! Super!
How many of them are 70+ besides Ringo and ? Names?
@@bigelile07 All names are in the comments. You can look them up yourself. Their average age is over 70 even w/o Ringo. Did you have a point to make?
@@BilliardsLover
I didn't read the description the only person I recognized was Ringo. 👍
The average age here (2019) is more towards 63-65 without Ringo, but point acknowledged.
Luke is in his 60s
That’s what I call standing and delivering! No fluff, no toys. Just solid rock.
YES!!!
The energy from these guys is just immense! Superb quality of performance.
Lukather is a Jedi. Gotta love him. What a masterclass on finesse and musicianship.
Rollie on keyboards?? OMG ! WHAT A SHOW!! Legend after legend!
Was waiting for someone to say this...
Ringo gives all of us who are aging a great example of how to remain vital and relevent. He shows us that as we age we don't have to go lay down and disappear.
I noticed I couldn't hear him on some of it, where he just gave Greg full control on the drums. You gotta love Ringo. What a classy guy! And he looks amazing! He's 80 on this video!
Yeah but he's a guy who could sell an autographed dog turd for a million dollars. When I'm his age you best believe I'm laying down
@@WookieGolgberg why not now?
Very Well expressed!
Ringos wife is seeing to keeping him healthy and Ringos zest for life is infectious.
@@kentroskelley1389 indeed!
People who are not drummers themselves saying Ringo Starr is not a good drummer, JUST SHUT UP.
Unless you have tried to sit behind a drum set and tried for 2 hours straight with no mental break to keep the music together, the feeling, the style, the atmosphere, you do not know what you are talking about.
Oh c'mon! When the way to get Ringo to play the 'Purdy shuffle' is to hire Greg Bissonnet, you have a SKILLS PROBLEM. Ringo is a solid steady drummer but nothing more.
So in your world, unless somebody can do a better job, they aren't allowed to have any other opinion than "hey this is amazing?"
@@_P_M_Ringo is a rock…and no Ringo…no BEATles. So stfu.
@@jamesm.3967 Haha...I think Paul, John and George had a little more to do with making the Beatles into the Beatles than Ringo did. Nothing against him, yes he was solid, but he couldve been replaced with many other drummers and the Beatles would still be the Beatles.
I'm a 66 yr old pro drummer, Ringo is just the best
Wow. Talk about a great rock band. Ken Ham absolutely kills it on vocals and sax.
Warren Ham
Legend over legends! Ringo Star is 83 years old and still going strong!🔥🔥🔥💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
💢💯👏👏
So so so happy I saw them last year. It was truly a dream. I got 5th row. ❤
With all this talent on the stage, it was the gentleman playing the woodwinds and singing the bulk of those impossible melodies that stole the show. I regret not knowing his name.
Warren Ham. I agree what a stand out along with everybody else was just incredible too.
Warren Ham. Check out his work with Kansas back in the day.
pretty good but dude had crazy auto tune on his voice, you can hear it in rosanna
Killin' great band. Studio quality in a live setting. Just amazing....
Wow! Toto great music as always!
So great to see Ringo Star & others performing (then I noticed Colin Hay)!!! 🇦🇺
This is the best overall live vocal performance of Africa I've ever heard. Finally hearing all the harmony lines. Amazing. Love Colin Hay so much
I agree---I dislike the song, but I saw it on this tour and it was great.
so it is Colin Hay men at work thats really bizare
i should have pressed the more button but i found this way even though im not the sharpest knife in the draw
Afraid to say that's because the main (top) vocal line is playback :( Noticeable if you scrutinise the video - none of the 5(!) singers is in sync with what we hear. Seems not many vocalists are up to this particular challenge.
Ringo great drummer and performer. Great songs.
TOTO will never be replaced although on a Moody Blues tour the new line up was wonderful
Holy crap..the falsetto guy with the sax stole the show…what a talent!
He out shined ringo! Wow!
That guy is good
That guy is GREAT!!!
A lot of Ham’s high tenor parts were full head voice. Amazing flourishes! Sounds like he did with Kerry Livgren/AD in the 80’s - what…40 years ago!
Warren Ham with serious vocal chops. Superb
Bissonette just rock solid throughout and his drums sound phenomenal
Saw the tour in Lake Tahoe in September.... Lukathers solo on Rosanna gave me goosebumps.....Stu Ham was the MVP !!!!
Ohhh my God beautiful beautiful beautiful.
This is a bunch of old-timers loaded with talents enjoying each other's company. Save the best for last. No doubt, Africa is one of the most beautiful songs ever. It's good to see Ringo Starr still doing what he does best. The sax guy stole the show here. Keep on rocking guys. Huge Toto fan here!
I love Steve Lukather!! He is faithful to his band and the best.
Steve is an icon. Its a pleasure to see Ringo playing behind him. We dont want to lose Ringo
i love these concerts where its just a massive crossover of several different artists.
I saw a guy from wings
No offense to Ringo, but figured the other drummer would be doing the “heavy lifting” when it comes to Roseanna.
You ever listen to Oysterhead?
There’s a live show on here from a tour they did after they made the one album.
It’s Les Claypool, Trey Anastasio and Stewart Copeland :)
@@scottt5484the other drummer is Greg Bissonette. And no doubt he takes the hard part
Great performance, music shares...I love it
Wow. Just wow. Those 5 part harmonies are absolutely stunning.
What a great honor for Steve to play with Ringo.
I was so lucky to be born in 1953, and could experience the greatest talents in Rock and popmusic til year to date, that is a priveledge and still makes me smile seeing this, thanks guys! God bless you!
Just saw this lineup last October. Amazingly fun concert and Colin Haye has not lost anything off his voice
Two of the greatest talents together. Damn.
ALL THE LEGENDS TOGETHER
Steve Lukather, top 10 guitarist of all time, amazing.
I've been to a lot of rock shows in my life, and i have to say that seeing ringo and his all stars was by far the best show I ever been to...
He was a great innovator and he was perfect for the Beatles
Gregg Rolie was also in Journey as well. He sings those songs alongside Steve Perry, "Feelin That Way" and "Any Time That You Want Me. So great to see him again singing and playing in this great performance!!! All the artists are the best of the best in the world!!!!
Looked like a fantastic show and great to see Colin doing what he does best 😁😁🇦🇺🇦🇺
Lovely to see some positivity here. Great song. Great drummer. Great guitarist. Great band. Perhaps millions like it.
I saw Ringo in Aug. 2019 - finally! The band was killer - we got to hear Toto, Men at Work, AWB, Santana and of course Beatles!!!!!!
Great, great band, real musicians. They made wonderful songs. Toto Forever.
Gregg has that beat perfectly. Great groove !!
He's the only drummer I heard who sounds almost like the original recording on Rosanna.
@@mikosoftcheck Simon Philips also
@@bernata5494 Simon is a monster drummer and a great inspiration (his drum sound is from another galaxy) but no, his groove on Rosanna is different. He's very precise, almost mechanical. Jeff and Gregg sound more... Bouncy for the lack of a better term. There's that magic sparkle in the way they play it.
Simon doesn't do the Purdie shuffle on Rosanna ... For some reason he plays a regular half time shuffle ... I know he CAN play it so I always thought it was out of respect for Jeff ... like saying even me, Simon Phillips, can't do it justice.
@@mikosoftcalling Simon mechanical... 😢
Colin Hay has been such a huge part of this band! Love it!
We saw him here on Maui some yrs back, fantastic!
Lukather is at the top of his game. What a great group of musicians here! Ringo is obviously enjoying himself, God bless him.
Ringo best one, one of the Beatles Best of Time ..💯💯💯💯💯
Thank you Ringo for always putting together a great ALL STAR BAND
I've always known of Ringo & his All Star Band, finally went
Really fun feel awesome night
Musicianship at its finest. What a concert! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Well know Ringo is a legend. But let's give it up for one of the best drummers and all around good guys, Greg Bissonette. And Lukather's greatness goes without saying.
AH THERE ARE STILL OUT STANDING,, LEGENDS 🎉🎉
The second part of Luke's solo on Hold The Line where he makes the jump to light speed is absolutely incredible!!
It’s always amazing how Ringo plays so simply but sounds so good. I know he’s not doing the heavy lifting here, and as a drummer you think, well, there’s nothing to what he’s playing, but somehow the simplicity just works!
The back beat he has and timing is perfection. Nobody does it better...than ringo . Look at the size of the bass drum
It sounds good because the most you hear of is Gregg
I love Ringo still banging the sticks to drums at 80+. I hope I have his energy when I turn 80 n
I really love how Ringgo's band let other artist shine. Like what they did to Colin Hay. What a performance🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡
Greg Bissonette is such a great drummer!
And how about WARREN HAM, the saxophonist with those amazing pipes!
Superb stuff! 😎🤙
Warren is a monster. I saw Toto last year and he was amazing. And Luke is amazing
All Starr band indeed!! Can't believe how amazing Ringo is to be doing this in his 80s... as a drummer no less!
Sharing the stage with a Beatle is such an amazing thing! What a group of killer musicians!
Warren Ham is also covering all those high Toto vocal parts in addition to Sax & Keyboard parts. Warren is a Fort Worth native and we used to go see him and his brother, Bill Hamm, in the 70s at small clubs around the TCU campus.
Lukather is a seriously accomplished guitar player and a great singer. An all time favorite of mine…
He's a great overall musician, a really good vocalist, multi instrumentalist. He used to tour with Kansas in 1982
