Great information and yes these are great grips, quick tip: before installing /gluing the grips just do a quick test by connecting to the battery to make sure you are not installing faulty ones 👍
Great video Tom. I’m in the market researching these since a buddy of mine has a pair.
Quick install & great video angles. Thanks,
Thanks buddy, I appreciate the help. Hands are warm!
Top review bud, i installed and did a review on my grips on my xsr900 last year. Very impressed.
I'd put the heat controller on the clutch side so that you don't have to let off the throttle to adjust it.
That is what the manufacturer recommends as well.
The problem is that the Oxford bracket doesn't fit on the clutch side of these yamahas because they don't include a full bracket etc that works when you only have a single bolt. I made a video on this: ua-cam.com/video/W1Y8R6sWSfc/v-deo.html
Just use your left hand
Thanks for this review!
Great video. Very informative Well done
lovely bike mate nice vid thanks.
Excellent! I bought some for my XVS1300 and didn't install them, they should fit my brand new all black XSR700 (2020) and cut out most vibration. Like all things a preliminary trial run of fitting everything before glueing appears to be the way ahead. I think I'll also remove my tank, as they say patience is a virtue. Tremendous video you should do many more!
Nice install and review, thanks.
great video thankyou really helped..
nice vid. I'm of to buy a set today to got my new tuono, fingers crossed i dont mess anything up lol
They mustve listened to your comment on the smaller connections cause the hot hands velcro grips have small plugs. Super easy install.
Thanks for posting. I've been thinking doing this, I think you just sold a pair of grips.
The different type relates to the length of the grip.
If you want a live , the horn has a live to it.
Great Honda fitted the battery underneath the gas tank Thank You
Lol
Top heat grips for sure
Pissy bike to do this sort of extra wireing, looking at getting the xsr 700 after a tracer one day watching this I'll probably wait until I had a few days off
Each version of the Oxford heated grips come in various lengths. Measure your throttle tube length to select the best fitting grip size since each version can only be trimmed moderately to fit.
Hi. do you know what model which fits best for honda transalp year 1995. thanks preben
There are 3 models for Oxford Grips with different lengths and grip compounds; adventure (132mm), sport (123mm) and touring (120mm). Each style grip can be shortened by less than 1cm. Measure your motorcycle grip length and pick the grip that best fits.
FYI...the different models are not only different patterns, they’re also different lengths, with the Adventure being the longest. They’re all trimable by ~1/2”
You shouldn't use electrical tape like that on the connectors. A generous dab of dielectric grease is more than enough. The last thing you want is to trap moisture in the connection. I live in Seattle and it rains twice here, once for 2 months and again for 7 months.
The newer version has better connectors that seem to be pretty much completely water proof having an o-ring and a threaded coupling.
Hi! When you get new exhaust? Louder then stock pipes?
Anyone know if these fit the 2017 r6?
Edit : maybe glueing the inside of the grip as opposed to the handlebars would stop it spitting out then edge, just a thought lad🤷♂️
Been rather lacking in the muff department recently. However, I always double up with heated grips and covers.
Just a quick tip, semi permanent glue >> use cheap hair spray! thye wont move and they can still be taken off if needed
Many motocross teams use spray paint.
I don’t have any hair, so I’m not going to waste the €
Does the wire interfere with your throttling?
cut the bracket just below the top hole, flip it the other way round that you have it and bend it the other way and screw it in to the bottom bolt that holds the mirror in.thats what I did. hope this helps any pics let me know
I'm looking for a better solution - found the whole thing a complete pain on my mt07. Oxford really should include a basic handlebar bracket! I made a video of this here: ua-cam.com/video/W1Y8R6sWSfc/v-deo.html
11:31 How can you NOT turn right down the epic Hosey Common Road???
green light is flashing on mine and no heat on grips
I know this is a old video quck question do they run down the battery much or at all
Did the combining the muffs with the grips help?
Yes, but the muffs kept falling off and made it difficult to use the controls so I only use them in bad weather. I think gloves with heated grips might be a better idea.
*How often do you get flat battery due to this?*
They must have listened to your complaint about the connectors because they changed them to waterproof ones similar to these: mototerre.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/AME-heated-grip-300x300.png
Do not bother with super glue. Hair spray works better. Lubes wilst sliding on and sticks once dry. Cheapest hairspray works best.
I was wondering.... Did you wait for the glue to dry for the advised minimum of 24 hours?
Because I installed my grips yesterday evening and the weather is reeeeaaally nice up here, but is hasn't been a full 24 hours since I glued the grips on..
*edit: your video convinced me to buy the grips, because installation seemed (and is) so easy! 👌
I can't remember but if it's warm and dry you'll probably be ok!
I have to say the thick wiring coming from each grip plus the controller look hideous!
It won’t be so apparent on a different bike with lower hand bars
On my bike the way it was installed it looks fine to be honest
didn't have to cut the grip could have used some washers to give it just that little bit more space
I've heard that using hairspray instead of glue works with less trouble. Any merit to this?
Never mind I just read a comment confirming this.
Maybe just wire in a kill switch to the grips so you can break the circuit
How do i make it go off when engine is off
Add a relay
stupid question...I see the controller goes from 30% to 100%...is there an off button?
yep, keep pressing minus when you get to 30%
so they dont work that great heating up the fingertips? damn :( i only ride at night and the fingertips quickly get frozen
get a pair of insulated gloves snowmobile gloves work perfect
i see i comes with something from the house of Lörds also =)
I like a muff to keep my hands warm, maybe these would be fine for the bike
I love a bit of muff 😝
You would think they could design the cabling a little better so it flows more with the handle bar. The design of the grips are nice but the cables sticking out from the controller and grips kill it for me. I think overall the Yamaha heated grips are a much better design with the integrated heat controller.
bought mine yesterday, even with winter gloves and muffs, in 0 degrees weather your hands just freeze.
Hi did you mean even with them on still don't work in 0 degree?
@@ridehead8771 sorry just re-read what I wrote and it don't really make sense. What I was saying is that without heated grips with gloves and muffs your hands freeze. Since installing hot grips I've taken the muffs off and just use gloves only. It keeps hands nice and toasty.
@@soldiers303 Thank goodness for that lol, I've already ordered and should come today, they're for my cb500f hopefully fitting them will be as easy as I'm hoping ✌️,safe riding mate 😀
@@ridehead8771 it is very easy. The hardest part is routing the wires. I hate having cables hanging out, so had to remove the fairing, fuel tank and so on. When its warmer will also fit a relay so it only works with when engine running.
@@soldiers303 To be honest I haven't even had a good look about how to run the wires on the bike, I guess I just have to figure out how to tidy them up, local garage asking £45 to fit together with phone holder with usb charger I bought first, but I believe I can have a go and save 2 tanks of fuel. At least that's the plan, I won't mess about too much with electrical as the bike is new you know for Warranty claim purposes just in case the unexpected happens. Thanks
Is the heat generated enough for you to not wear gloves when riding
Why would you not want to protect your hands, just supposing you had an "off" ?
@@kevinmesser6495 I am pro gloves i am trying to know whether the heat is also enough without gloves.
i have never had to glue grips on.
Seen it 😃
thanks for guide, but it looks horrible
If you have 22mm bars don't get 22mm grips as they WON'T FIT!!
Quick fact. NEGATIV/minus first. Never the red one. Never never never never
Correct, when removing a battery it’s negative first. When reconnecting a battery it’s always positive first, then negative
@@slakk5093 You are absolutly right
I would have swapped the sides over so the cables could follow the bikes. Looks hideous!
horrible, untidy, lazy install of quality grips, lesson on how to make a nice bike look crap!!!!
