    What a lot of negativity in the comments. You all know nobody is required to buy this stuff, right? As always John, very interesting to hear your thoughts on any gear, and an interesting round-up of options and ideas. Thanks for putting in the huge amounts of time you do to make these videos. 👍

    Definitely agree with you on Calimoto. Used recently for a tour of mid Wales and some of the loop routes it conjured were truly amazing! I think that it will get better as the community evolves and shares more insights of their favourites too.

    Some alternatives and other handy gear: AA battery trickle charger/conserver for bikes and cars £30. Noco boost plus GB40 battery booster/starter/power bank/flashlight £90. Aldi 40 litre roll bag £9. NICECNC motorcycle accessories (at a fraction of the cost of OEM CNC parts. Oxford Rider belt, worn by the rider has two handles for the pillion ( much better than rear grab rails ) £28.

    Love my cardo packtalk had it for years and the battery is still good and it’s been used in all weathers. But by far the best cheap accessory was a set of Rok straps, far superior to bungee cords and much easier to attach to a bike. I never want to be smacked in the teeth with a bungee cord hook like what happened to a mate on a bike trip, that noise will haunt me forever! haha

    Healtech Thunderbox is the best thing I bought for my bike, makes installing & powering up accessories like aux lights, dashcam, additional 12v socket etc idiot-proof. Next is the Cardo Packtalk, absolutely invaluable when teaching roadcraft skills to my newbie biker wife.

    • @mjpt57
      @mjpt57 5 місяців тому +1

      I too use the Thunderbox. Great bit of gear. It powers my Zumo XT, power for my Denali driving lights "smart" relay, Quadlock wireless phone charger and power to a TPMS (my fifth one now, I think - they all eventually die) off of Ebay.
      And I also have the Cardo Packtalk Edge. Bluetooth between it, the Zumo and the iPhone, it makes for a good "infotainment" setup.
      One thing that I did was to hard wire in an Anderson plug to the battery with an inline fuse. It sits below the right side cover. My battery charger has the anderson plug fitted as well as a small Motopressor compressor. Just a matter of plugging and unplugging external to the battery compartment which sits under a difficult-to-access bolted down seat.

    For a commuters that Visio Dry stuff would be amazing, I'm going to give it a test. I found other water repellents not that useful even at all esp in city due to the lower speeds the second best solution was to use a good quality visor wiper but this in theory would be much better even more so than those visor blade machines 😄

I don’t put camera on helmet , but use ram mount with camera screw ball , no vibration, I don’t use sound although it’s got + a cover to cut out unwanted noise it’s waterproof to 5 metres + I’ve got the underwater case waterproof to 40 metres for those winter days , great buy 😊👍👍

As you say, listen to sat nav, excellent, coffee break, no problem, any other breaks or issues you can sort, quickly and safely. @J_Dos46 Quadlocks design stems from their development as pushbike mounts where vibration was never an issue. It wasn't until they started getting used on mountain & motorbikes that people started to have problems, hence the optional extra. I agree however that they really should make an integrated unit that includes the antivibration in a neater package, the current arrangement is a bit of a mess.

    Interessting video. Got some ideas. The Hex exCAN in particularly looks interessting, if it works like advertised? Since its directly connected to the power, does it mean all connected accessories will be powered directly from the battery? Only once the ignition is switched on or once the motor / alternator is running or can this be customized? Looking for the Yamaha Tenere 700. Thanks

      I've been running the Litelok x1 on my bike for around a year and a half, my bike stays locked up on a drive on a public road near Oxford city centre (although under a security cam), and I park around the Oxford area almost daily. Have never had any issues, I'd imagine since it needs a decent angle grinder with multiple blades to get off, thieves don't even bother unless they can pick the whole bike up and get it in a van.

    I have all the gadgets I want. I have a Gel compatible battery optimiser as my bike is keyless. I have a head cam a Drift Ghost XL. . I have a phone charger cable as my bike has a USB port. I have dinky cable ear buds for use with google maps. Anything else is not needed and a distraction. I don't have heated grips as I fitted brush guards and when cold wear Oxford rainseal over mitts which are great and contain the heat from my hands and keeps my entire hand warm not just my palms. Nearly forgot i carry a USB chargeable portable compressor. Don't need a deflateor as the valve caps top is the tool to remove the inner valve.

    Are your slippers fitted with a goretex liner and a hydrophobic outer or had you treated them with some of that visor magic spray?

      They're fully certified safety slippers. They have a hygroscopic layer that takes in the water, separates the hydrogen and oxygen, stores the oxygen in the man-made super-fibres to reduce my weight when crossing dangerous surfaces and to reduce foot fatigue, while oxygenating my blood through the lining. That's what the salesman told me anyway!

    Would be interested to hear your thoughts on the Insta X3 when the review is up. I’ve had one since the summer and find it frustrating after reframing different clips on PC to then cut together on the phone app and you lose the 4k quality as a result! From researching I understand this is to do with the pixels when only looking at a part of the whole 4k video but nevertheless!

    • @bennettsbikesocial
      @bennettsbikesocial  5 місяців тому +3

      You won't get 4K out of it once cropped - it's 5.7K in total, but that's over the entire sphere, so whatever you crop to it won't really be much more than 1080P at best typically. If you need the 4K quality, you'll need to use a fixed view camera like a GoPro. I use my GoPro Hero 7 as camera 2 for these videos in the garage, but while the riding stuff is a resolution compromise, I don't mind that at all.

    • @Blokes_and_Bikes
      @Blokes_and_Bikes 5 місяців тому

      Its a compromise I guess and the videos do look great especially with some of the features, I guess just a disappointment more than anything and almost misleading in someways for a “regular consumer”. I use a hero 9 alongside and get some great footage with them combined.
      Appreciate the response and the videos you do, as a new rider in July I found the impartiality really useful when starting out and have made many better informed purchases as a result!

      @bennettsbikesocial  5 місяців тому +2

      Thanks very much! It's impressive kit, and it's so much easier to capture great shots, but the limitation is the resolution. Having said that, the X3 does have a single-lens 4K mode. I'll be testing that... Cheers!

    The SW Motech Day Pack has gotten my attention. However, looks like it's not yet widely available. I can't source a supplier for it here in Australia and on the German website it appears that its tank ring is for a few BMW and Ducati models only.
    I havt he Givi tank bag which uses the Tanklok system. That worked well. But then I got the new Suzuki 1050XT. The tank lok didn't fit it. Thankfully the dealer threw in the "genuine" Suzuki tank bag and its associated tank ring as a part of the deal. It works but the bag itself isn't a patch on the Givi, hence the interest in the SW one (I've sold the Givi so I can't use it).

      That's annoying! There are tank rings available for for more bikes - I've got / had them on BMW, Kawasaki, Honda and Yamaha, and I know others are available too. In fact, there's 64 pages of tank rings! sw-motech.com/en/
