It's the simplicity that makes that easy. As soon as you have to sync remote video streams, graphics, etc. you begin to run into issues.

This is a move that says that the Canucks don't have a lot of confidence in skilled forward prospects for injury call-ups this season. I think Sprong at 27 year old is going to run up against Tocchet holding him accountable defensively if he doesn't want to spend a lot of time in the doghouse. You notice him in games because of some offensive flourish on the 4th line against less talented lines, but then the coach tends to notice him the rest of the game when he doesn't have the puck or when he turns it over.
