Okposo played like every shift he wanted to outdo his last one. Kind of like doing push-ups where you say "im going to do one more than the most I've ever done, and then you do". I felt like he played his heart out and he didn't score, but he really did grind the other team down. He was way more effective than numbers can show and I was glad he was a part of that run.
Celibrini seems like a really nice, well spoken kid. With that in mind, a thought from this interview:
It's sad to me that almost every kid that makes it to the NHL comes from a rich family now. At least the Canadian kids. Just listening to him talk about his upbringing, and the opportunities and support he had. And I don't begrudge him, or his family that. I'm working hard in my life so that my (future) kids will have it better than I had it. So I'm not trying to dismiss his talent or work ethic, or what he's parents did help get him where he is today. That's the goal, what else do you work for if not to support your family and give your kids opportunities.
It just strikes me that you don't hear about too many sons-of-plumbers or mechanics or other working class, or even middle class, families anymore.
Hardly an original take from me. Hockey Canada knows the affordability of this sport has been an issue for a long time that just gets worse and worse. And now with summer ice, year round special coaching and skills development for the kids, it's just widening that gap. Have to think that there's a huge untapped pool of potential superstars out there who's parents just can't keep up. Just was pretty striking listening to him talk about his upbringing and family (and he's far from the only one). But again, seems like a very grounded, well spoken, nice young kid, which is a credit to the family as well.
its more about how these kids are raised and taught to lvie by their parents who obviously are very succcesful. its not just the money, its the way of life.
Not a single soul in MTL is worried about that Slaf contract.
If you watched the games this season you know. There is no stopping this kid from now on.

Honestly after watching this it's hard not to come away super impressed by Celebrini. Incredibly intelligent kid, he will be a star in the NHL. As a Habs fan it's so exciting to hear the way he speaks about Lane Hutson.

Jake Guentzel has to score at least 50 goals next season to show he can take Stammers spot. Those are mighty big ass skates to fill.
No, they got Guentzel because he’s younger and a much more valuable player at ES. He’s scored more goals and had more assists 5v5 than Stamkos has the last two years.
40g+40a=80p is enough if Guentzel manages that he has done his job, anything more is a bonus.

This whole narrative of the Caps significantly enhancing the lineup being labeled as “It’s all for Ovi’s goal chase” is beyond stupid at this point, the Caps are by far the most improved team this offseason and they’re bound to finish 1-3 in the Metro Division and officially are going back into Cup contention. They gained Dubois, Mangiapane, Duhaime, Chychrun, Matt Roy & Logan Thompson. A WC2 team from last season that literally improved every single part of their whole team already this offseason with offense, defense & goaltending while the only departures were 2/3 of their 4th line in Malenstyn & Aube-Kubel and 2 unimpressive players in Patches & Jensen. Malenstyn & NAK leaving is a tough let down given they shaped the best 4th line in the entire league, being put on the ice to go against and shut down any team’s 1-2 top 6 lines & continuously succeeding. But the Caps also have the best AHL affiliate in the entire league but Trineyev & Priskie can be called up from the Bears to complete the 4th line. You know when you enter a new season and your only issue is re-establishing the 4th line, the team is clearly bound for dominant success.
We’ll see they have have a lot of players that will have to prove a lot in my opinion, but I won’t be surprised if they do good

Biz bitching about Slaf’s contract when his Leafs are notoriously known for even overpaying the equipment manager is beyond laughable. The fact that we have 3 superstar core players UNDER 25 million on the salary cap is something (including the Leafs) will dream of having rather than be known to have once overpaid for the most overrated cores in the history of the NHL. Habs are gonna legit be a problem in 3 years. Paying for Slaf are solid building blocks for when Demidov, Reinbacher and Hutson come in the mix.
