- Sekeres and guest co-host Irfaan Gaffar do a deep dive on the Daniel Sprong signing and how it impacts the Vancouver Canucks. Where will Sprong play in the lineup? How does this impact the rest of the forward group? Will we see a potential trade for a D-man? Matt and Irf discuss it all.

Hoglander is going to freaking crush it this season. Steady improvement year to year Still so young. Trading him away would haunt us for years.
Hossa light.
Also I wouldn't trade Podz either
He's going to be a beast
I'd give him ONE More Year
Someone will probably be injured by the start of the year and podz will play
No he won't. He's not maintaining a 20% shooting percentage long term.
Not much of a playoff guy though.
Didnt he mention in his initial media availability that He and Petey are friends and have spent holidays together?
Yes
I will never understand why teams can't envision having four lines that are an offensive threat and still be defensively reliable.
Unfortunately, Hoglander will yield maybe a 2nd round draft pick at most but not a top-4 dman...
Why are they freaking out over Myers being on the second pairing? He was there all season last year with Soucy. Nothing has changed on the right side. Zadorov played on the left side, thats the only departure. The left side is Hughes, Soucy, and probably D-Petey as the 5th D. Thats why they left Zad go, theyre confident D-Petey can come in and play some games this year.
The 35 to 40 points mid six players are all fine and good. Doesn't it depend on the plus/minus to a certain extent? The affect in the room should be well in hand with Tocchet.
They need to find/identify a somewhat young, promising future RD that has not yet broken through, but will/can do it this season
I think Debrusk - Petterson - Sprong is a line that can work.
Pettersson and Debrusk can hold the defensive responsibilities, allowing him to be a true scoring winger beside Petey.
(I also think the third line should be Hoglander - Joshua - Garland. That line has the ability to be the best third line in the league.)
Big Hog doesn't play center and they were one of the best lines in hockey with Blueger
@@dougstewart3243 Dak can play center, and Hoglander is just better than Blueger.
Now that Dak is acclimated to the team, he can definitely make the switch back and be effective.
If he clicks, Miller, Pettersson, Joshua could be the best center depth in the league for years
Everyone talking about trading hoglander when he had his best season but no one talking about trading podz
I see Sprong as 1st line potential. He’s too good of a shooter not to be. They will tighten his def game w/a line that has def forward Miller
I d trade podkolzin over hoglander
without a doubt
So would anyone else but you're trying to get a top 4 dman.
I'd give Podkolzin every chance to shine
I'd give him One more Year
That kids a beast
The thing is this..After his solid rookie season he went down hill
Also Podkolzin wouldn't get us much of a return yet..Maybe a 3rd Rounder
Definitely Not a Top 4 D Man...
Those are worth at least a 1st Round Pick
@@BadkhelaCarolina said NO Way for Hoglander, 1st and 2nd for Necas
They wanted Silovs or Lekkarimaki as well so Vancouver moved on
Necas would be great but yeah more importantly we need a TOP 4 D Man which are hard to come by
And we have No Cap so we need to move Myers and Hoglander for a D who's better than Myers
Top 4 D Men are around $4 - $6 Mill Cap hit which we don't have
sixth teams sixth teams sick
Still need a Top 4 D Man but we have No Cap space and Hoglander wont get us a TOP 4 D Man
Maybe Hoglander and a 1st Rounder (No Cap)
Rutherford isnt done yet
This teams back end will be much deeper come February
Rutherford is a very smart GM
His record proves it..Carolina and Pittsburgh
Sprong wants to Prove himself and i believe he will...Hes pissed that only a couple of teams were interested in him..
Hoglander was benched in favour of Aman in the playoffs because of faceoffs. No way Aman is a better forward. Quit saying Hoglander was benched because of subpar play.
we could be okay with a good puck handling right shot d to play with hughes. hronek on 2nd pair, solves our problem on back end.
A few years ago, the lotto line was untouchable. Right now, everyone assumes the third line is untouchable.
Podkolzin isn't exposed, he's fourth line or 13th. Sprong could move fourth to third. If he is in the top six, you have injuries or your year is a disaster.
Podkolzin should be better next season
I'd give him every opportunity to shine
I wouldn't give up on him yet
@@conservativeamber1216 Me neither
Trade petterson for a top 4 d man
If you have any decency, maybe don't open your mouth to begin with
@user-by3nd4rm6c what are you 5? Grow up... petterson is a crybaby... if you don't know the effect that has on a team, maybe you need to follow your own words
I think both Hoglander and Pettersson whant out after this year so the problem with a RD will solve it self....
Nobody is taking Pettersson's contract if he leaves lmao he's not getting traded
He would have to outperform his current contract and he is just not that guy... if it does happen, I doubt he would leave now because the Canucks are winning now. If we didn't make the playoffs this year he might have gotten traded but it's not happening anymore.
@@8r3nYT WTF? Teams will absolutely take that Pettersson contract. Why would either player want out
@@user-by3nd4rm6c I don't think either player wants out, maybe I've been a bit harsh of his performance during the second half of the season. I want to see Petey succeed, just hoping he can pick it up again. Love watching him play at his best
@@8r3nYT Petey's still relatively young, and we have yet to see how he responds to getting his first taste of playoff action. Knowing how competitive of a guy he is, wouldn't surprise me at all to see him making an exception to push himself that extra 10-20% this summer
@@user-by3nd4rm6c We just saw his first real taste of playoff action... he did have an injury but man... without him we don't win. I hope he does push himself because we don't win shit without our franchise center
