Guys please like the video, subscribe to my channel and leave a comment below, it will be much appreciated. 🙏😊
Another way is (if your car has one) is to plug a test plug into your trailer wiring , it tells the computer you are pulling a trailer and it will not shut off engine while idling . Wal Mart sells them and auto parts stores have them.. Great Video.
Will this work for 2020 gmc sierra v8 truck??
@@ferndogg4427 It should fool your computer that you are pulling a trailer and keep the engine running. I think the 2021 engines do not turn off while sitting..
I will try this when I get my new Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk.
@@ferndogg4427 Yes
It's called a zip tie in the US too:) If I ever decided to to this, I would cover both of those open ends of the plug ends to keep the moisture out of the electrical. Great video.
This is exactly the video I needed. You showed the thing. You showed how to disconnect. Fantastic and my car is not burning through batteries anymore. If I could buy you a beer I absolutely would, your the man.
Thanks mate i am glad I am able to help you 🙂. Yes you do owe me the beer 🍻😂 (Gods nutrients).
I hate the start/stop feature and searched the internet for a way to permanently negate it. Until your video I had no luck. Thank you so much.
Thank you , I'm glad I was able to help you in anyway
@elroy elroy yes
Ran across this video. I’ve only seen the ones with the gear shift.
Results:
1. It worked. Separating is a little difficult but be patient.
2. Our vehicle has a remote start feature. It no longer function. Rarely used it so not a big deal.
3. Check engine light came on. There are comments in the comment section about this but it is deep in there. Not sure if there is a fix for it or not. Once a year we have emissions testing so I will probably reconnect about a month prior and try to reset before testing.
Vivo en Mexico, si funciona perfectamente !!!! Tengo Equinox 2020 , cubri con cinta isolante para evitar cualquer contacto con agua y polpo Muchas gracias amigo !
Thank you for the video, you are the first person who actually says the stop/start is not permanent by shifting to L, I’m an auto driver and reverting from L to auto fails with the L9, L6 method.
Thank you Sam. I'm glad I'm able to help you. You owe me a beer 🍻🍻🍻🍺 cheers 🥂🥂
Thank you for your help. Tried the gear shift in L and moved it to 6 but they didn't mention leave it in L. Excellent and complete information.
An associate of mine who works at a dealership showed me 2 ways: place the vehicle in low and manually push the plus button up to 6 speed, the other way: just be light on the brake when stopping . Im going to try your method. Thanks bro.
I hope it worked for you bro ☺️
Awesome thanks for sharing, you just hit right in the money, this future is a pain in the rear end
If you one day come to America, I got beer and a barbecue for you brother
Hahaha thank you mate , sure I will come to the great USA. It is me dream to see your country since childhood 😊. Ahha I bet your bbq is not as good as our Aussie bbq "a shrimp on the barbie" lol.
I am glad it all worked out for you in the end. Ta
@@TheAzharuddin Also remember in the bigger cities, this is quite illegal to do. Especially states with heavy emissions laws.
All I do on my Traverse is set the A/C to the coldest setting and that disables the S/S system, Im in Florida so is always hot here I think Australia is similar.
This video help a lot for me I went to my car dealership asking about my problem but they don’t know the answer, thank you very much for helping us from your video eh,🍁🇨🇦🍁
You're welcome!
You are welcome 🤗
Thank you so much for making this video, hope you can make it to the US I would love to meet you and your family. I would love to go to Australia also one day it’s my dream!
Ahhh you're welcome I'm glad it worked out for you. Yes you are welcome to come to our Aussie land and meet me 😊. I do want to come to United States it's my childhood dream
Thank you very much I wish I would have seen this video a year or two ago thank you again!
You're welcome. I'm glad I was able to help you out mate
Thanks for the tip. I hate the auto stop start.😊
Thank you very much for this video!! I have a 2019 Traverse and have been trying to figure out how to disable that annoying feature. It should be the same as the Equinox and I am going to try it in the morning. Thanks again!!
Did it work ?
Thank you so much it works perfect.. no check engine light whatsoever 2018 Equinox
This little trick worked just fine on my '16 Malibu. The connector is a bit different to unplug. Also, the check engine light does not come on. Also, there is no double-beep when I lock the car with the key fob! Thanks, A.P.
Correction: The check engine light DID come on after the second engine start!
I'm glad it worked out for you man and video has been of any help to you ☺️
@@Mrfixitmarty back to the drawing board then if the CEL came back on.
How do you get check engine light to go off after you disconnect...it's reading code p257 for hood open or bad latch
@@keithsweat7894 You don't. Plug the connector back in, and the light should go off after a few days, or clear the code. Use the low driving position and press the + button until the maximum gear shows on the dash.
Thank you. best video for this situation. 3 different ways to disable idle shutdown
Very helpful! Thanks so much :)
You are welcome mate 🙂
This worked on my 2018 Traverse. The check engine light is on, but I can live with that. I disabled it because my electronic parking brake was coming on with the hillside assist when the car turned off and it wasn’t disengaging when I hit the gas. We had to unhook my battery along the roadside where I was stuck to get the brake off.
Thanks! I needed this! Worked on my new 2018 traverse.
"Put anotha shrimp on the barbae" cheers. 😁
Fairdinkum mate!
Hahaha
Brilliant! Liked and subbed.
Thank you brother. I hope my video has helped you lots👍
Thank you so much this video very helpful
I wonder if there is a fuse in the fuse panel that you can take out to accomplish the same thing
Thankkkk you!!!for bring me here
You're welcome
I was thinking about dust/dirt or moisture getting into the connectors, maybe some electrical tape over the ends ??
Thank you so much for the video.......
Yes for sure you can put a tape. I didn't think of it though. Its a great idea !
I tried this on my 2018 Equinox and it worked, however, the Check Engine light did come on (after a while) and it bothered me. I bought a “jumper” wire on Amazon for $14.92 and proceeded to install it. But first, I wanted to make the Check Engine light go out. I hooked-up my OBDII code reader (hoping to clear the codes) but it must be outdated for this car bc it didn’t work right.
I then tried the old method for getting the ECM to reset itself to factory specs by disconnecting the NEG battery terminal for 10-minutes. At the same time, I reconnected the original wiring (without the jumper) hooked the NEG terminal up and started the car. The Check Engine light was OUT.
I was going to get it back to normal (shutting off at stops) THEN install the jumper cable to eliminate that function and still prevent the Check Engine light from coming on.
I set about test driving the car in a manner I’ve read for allowing the ECM to reset itself (but here’s what I did wrong) When I put the car in gear, I dropped it into L (low) out of force-of-habit and clicked the + button 5 times to put the car in LOW 6. I pulled out and immediately realized I had wanted to start out in D (drive) so before it shifted, I pushed the gear stick up to D. Guess what?
The car doesn’t shut off at stops AND the hood wire is connected and there’s no jumper in the line. I decided to run the car for a while to see if it begins to shut off again.
very nice video thanks
I am glad I was able to help you mate.
Definitely going to try this
Yes you can permanently disable the auto stop feature by disengaing the connector directly behind the latch but you will also get a check engine light.
That was going to be mu first question if this would cause a check engine light. Thanks!
HoA.....you rock Brother!! Well done
Thank you brother. I hope it worked for you as it has worked well for mine.
Thanks for the video
Thank you
No problems Stacey. I hope I was able to help you , thanks for watching it as well.
One thing you missed in the cons. The remote start feature will not work anymore.
Great video. Fantastic info. Hope you make it to America
I hope so too!
Si funciona
Yes work
🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Equinox 2019
I'm glad to gear this and happy for you
You are de best my friend 👍👍👍
the zip ties are not needed both ends are already secured, what you do need to be concerned with is the 2 Open ends of a harness that need to be sealed or they will corrode and get filled with trash over time
Zip ties, here from Louisiana.
Haha okay 🤠
Hero right there!
I pulled apart the connection under the hood like you showed in this video. I was wondering if your engine light came on after disconnecting. The shut off has quit, but engine light is on. Is that just telling the car that, that particular part has been Tampered with?
Yep zip tie in Mississippi as well
Haha okay thank you it's good to know we use the same lingo
Purvis here
May try that on my 2018, thanks. I been using L mode & shift it to 9. Works great , auto stop disabled. Such a hassle , darn auto stop is horrible on starter. More wear & tare on engine , terrible feature.
I'm glad I'm able to help you 😊
boa informação vou tentar fazer isto no meu carro aqui no Brasil, obrigado.

I believe there is a bypass connector you can buy for a out $15 that hooks up to both ends of this connection. I'm going to try that.
Hello, have you tried the connector and did it work? Cheers
e1787 yes, I tried I and it worked just fine. No problems. Get the right size for your car.
Thank you so much for your reply. Do you happen to have a link to purchase this item?@@micheledemike6342
So, does this trigger an "Open Hood" symbol on your dashboard and does it stop the "Remote Start" feature from operating ?
No it doesn't.
I tried it on my 2021 car and I got a check engine soon light and the remote start wont work.
@@patrickoneill290 mine did too. Check engine light stayed on even after reconnecting the harness
@@jimclark7917 Not sure why light stayed on and I still haven't found a way to fix it. I'm just used to checking equalizer when i start vehicle
Zip Tie in America too.
Y’all it worked on my 2017 Chevy malibu!
I'm glad it worked mate 😊😊
Check engine light is on tho?!
Awesome!!!! Thank you for posting this.. 👍👍👍👍👍
I'm glad I'm able to help you 😃
thank you, there have been times that I only went up to 4th or 5th gear and the engine would whine a little. So, what about moisture getting into the plug, will it not prematurely rust the plug (car washes) heavy downpours etc.
update Remote Start Will Not Work WHEN UNPLUGGED
Helpful video. Does this disable the remote start feature? Also, as an American, I too call it a "Zip tie."
Yes it disables the remote start
It doesn't on mine 🤠
So I am not sure about what's going on with your car.
will that work on a 2017 cruze and will the check engine lite come on
Mate I'm not sure about cruze. Sorry. They are holden cars so it's worth looking for that connector inside the bonnet.
Bonnet? lol
I think here in america a bonnet was a girls hat lolz
In America we call them both as far as a cable or zip tie...pretty much interchangeable.
I call them zip ties too an dim from Kentucky.
Has anyone tried it on a 2013 chevy malibu eco by any chance?
You can permanently disable it by refusing to buy cars with the stop start 'feature' until GM stops installing it on cars
brother Prakash does the check engine light up WHEN UMPLUGGED and the light stay on until you pluged back up??
Yes
Check engine doesn't light up in my car. So I don't know why it's doing in yours brother. Sorry for late reply though
@@dennisharris7231 same thing with my terrain
My 2018 Chevy Spark has this auto stop feature and it drives me insane!! Sometimes at a light when stopped and when letting my flot off the brake the whole car will shut off for a second or two. It's very annoying and I've heard that this is one way to get around that!
mine doesnt restart lmao i hate this shit
He in the US our models come with a button to turn it off
Why does GM do this? Why has no one sued for the wear and tear on their car?

Does remote start work after you’ve disconnected that sensor?
I don't have remote start brother
@@TheAzharuddin if check engine light up the remote start not work
Mine is still connected and still my auto stop doesn’t work. I wanted it to stop working but can’t remember what I did 😢
Can you follow up....no engine light? no cons? Just disconnect the connector and that is it?
Did you ever find out about the check engine light being on if you do this "fix"? I sure don't want that light on all the time, for one, you won't know if there is actually a REAL check engine emergency going on!
My check engine light came on and won’t turn off when I connect em back. What do I do?
Disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset
This dude is close thats the correct harness but they sell a jumper that disables it for $15 search buy auto start stop delete harness year make model also their are more detailed videos on how to disconnect the harness
it put engine light after 30 min
We disconnected the auto stop but my car has a check engine light
does it help with the gas mileage disconnecting it?
Yes my friend, mine has gone down from 7.8 to 7.6 km per litre
Mine is sitting at 7 litres per 100 k's now. So it's pretty darn good.
Fuse? That's NOT a fuse. That's a connector. It's a PLUG. If you overload the circuit that will NOT blow and save the circuit from permeant damage. A FUSE WOULD do that. That is a connector that has two sides and when connected it will tell the car that the hood is up and the car will put a little notification up somewhere on the dash to let you know the hood is open. But if you unplug the connector, at least on the 2014 Malibu I have here, it will not only disable the "auto stop/start system" it'll also NOT cause the "hood open" notification to show up on the dash. AS for the other suggestion to put in manual mode and put in selection six...or nine or whatever...high gear, that only works on that model. On the Malibu and I suspect other models, it ACTUALLY puts the transmission in the gear you've selected when you're in manual shift mode. So you won't be able to put it in high gear while sitting still. At most it'll let you go up one gear. This car says, "selection not available". Or "gear selection not available". Some cars have manual mode but it pretty much functions like it's in auto mode, only allowing you to downshift one gear and maybe, MAYBE, wind the gear out a little more than the factory setting in automatic shift mode. This Malibu, if you put it in manual mode and take off in 1, it STAYS in first gear...meaning you're not going to go very fast and might even blow your engine up before you get 10 miles from the house. So be careful listening to people on the internet that don't actually know what they're talking about. They'll tell you do so something that's "perfectly safe" right and then YOU blow up your engine and they're like...."sorry...my car isn't like that".
Yes I have mentioned it on the comments section , it's not a fuse it's a connector. I said it's a fuse but now can't be bothered making another video.
@@TheAzharuddin No problem, I just wanted to make sure followers understood the correct name for that. Have a nice day.
You two guys are awesome !!!! I wanted to disable AutoStop and I have 2014 Malibu . I got what I wanted .
so to be correct you have a 2014 chevy malibu and you did this and had no issues? i dont mind auto stop really but i do mind when it makes my car die every single time.
Check engine light activates when you do this, but it works.
Check engine light doesn't comes on in my car though. It only beeps twice when I lock the car with car keys. So to avoid beeping , I lock the car by pressing lock button on door handle. It doesn't not beep when I do this.
So ;you just drive around with the "check engine" light on ? THat can't be good, what if your car has a malfunction and it wants to tell you by flashing the check engine light so you'll know....but the darn light is already on!
question: when you disconnet the cable, does the ckeck engine turn on?
Did you ever find out? I don't want my check engine light on due to this "fix". Right now I just take the time to drop the transmission into "L" and bump the gears to the top, in my Equinox it is 6th gear.
Do u get a code on??
No. You will get service your vehicle message on dashboard though.
@@TheAzharuddin so it is a "service your vehicle" light...not the common "check engine" light?
I have a check engine light on?!
Did not work on my 2019 terrain in U,S lasted about 10 minutes, engine alarm came on and stayed on, check engine light stayed on until car was driven about 10 miles after plug was replaced. typical government into our lives.
What? Did you ever find a permenant fix like this, but no interference from the check engine light?
Doesn’t this disable electronic start
No it doesn't
Buy another gm vehicle. That should tell you how the rest of it is engineered.
Ehhh....smart person would've figure those features already.
This procedure will cause the check engine light to illuminate. on 2018 models.

Sorry buddy that's not a fuse
I have corrected it in the description.
This should make your vehicle easier to steal because one can find a way to open the hood or bonnet and the alarm will not go off then they'll just tow the vehicle away.
