I think the difference is that Heath is actually more intelligent and it comes through in how he talks.
@@thefreshestprince89 nothing to do with intelligence. Just different Aussie accents.
Honestly, if Heath had been given a stand alone joker movie like phoenix... I can't even imagine to what depths he would've taken the character to. But his Joker's legacy will live on forever
if there will be joker 2 with joaquin it will be awesome too. these two defined what joker is to us.
Wat. TDK basically is his movie… that brought incredible performance that won him an Oscar.
What's really amazing is how poorly The Dark Knight was written. It's NOT a good script in regards to dialogue. That's how good his performance was.
Imo Heath’s Joker wouldn’t have worked well in that setting. Needs the mysteriousness
I feel like Heath’s joker works better with a Batman than without

@@budstik yes, on 2008
No he didn’t. He served his purpose on this planet therefore his services are longer required.
He's alive
Even before his death, Brokeback Mountain alone proved he was one of the best actors imaginable. Even Daniel Day Lewis was in awe of him.
I always thought he was overrated in that, kid playing cowboy. The Joker was the groundbreaking role.
@@steveconn it was mainly his ability to hold that southern accent with the cadence he was going for with the character that made it a great performance but yeah by far dark knight is what cemented his legacy
@@steveconn I thought the story and direction was overrated (a bit slow and too absorbed with itself), but Heath's acting still blew me away. He may have been playing cowboy, but an extremely specific personality of cowboy, a complete character.
It was a hysterical comedy.
Haha
He was so handsome and sensitive. He looks like someone with anxiety on this clip, moving a lot, kind of uncontrollable. So sad he is gone. Great human and actor.
Drugs. Not anxiety.
Yea he sure was tweaking 😥 😔
Everyone who knows, know
he always suffered from anxiety, he is in almost every interview so agitated, he hated interviews
He's tweaking off the pills, and coke.
I have to admit, when I first heard he was cast as Joker I thought it was a terrible mistake because he was too young and too much of a pretty boy. Boy was I wrong. It just shows what an incredible actor he was.
You were not alone. I remember a lot of people were pissed online. They wanted Vincent Cassel.
Umm... didn't that role kill him? Maybe you weren't wrong about it being a terrible mistake?! 🤔🤷
@@askapk absolute not… By heaths own admission playing the role of the joker was the most fun he’d had with a character, and probably will ever have.. those were his words. Conan was genuinely impressed that Heath had his own sound effects
It amazes me that he was only 28 when he passed. What incredible performances he put in at such a young age in the dark knight and brokeback mountain

Hard to believe Heath Ledger was only 28 years old when he passed. He seemed so much older because of his amazing acting, acting that can take decades to perfect, but only took him 2. RIP legend.
I don't think anyone would top his performance as joker. Truly extraordinary actor. RIP
and still it did got outshined by joaquin phoenix
@@m_smart Joaquin's interpretation of joker is totally different. I don't think we can compare them. Apples and oranges situation.
Definitely no one can
@@m_smart Outshined is bit of a stretch.. Joaquin almost touched the pedestal where Heath's at in terms of Joker's portrayal.
@@m_smart I absolutely despise Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker. I love Todd Philipps but that script was terrible and Phoenix’s performance over the top. Nothing is as iconic as Heath Ledger’s Joker. It will stand the test of time along Nicholson’s (not Phoenix). I give it 10 years before everyone forgets The Joker
He seemed so lovely. I was 18 when he passed and so sad, because he was my favourite actor. I’m now 31, and it’s such an odd feeling knowing I’m older than him now. 🥺
I agree. I was 20 and now older than he was. He seemed to much older than 28
I wasn’t born 😅 I was born about 10 months later :/
I was 16 i think. I wasn't a big fan but i knew who he was. 10 things about you is one of my favorite movies.
I was 14 so only just started through my teen years and now im turning 29 this year and i cannot believe i am older than him now..
Wow time huh. It's a constant. You may as well say that old, new phrase which has no particular meaning. It is what it is.
the fact that he died gave his Joker a mythical feeling. it is because he could never do a sequel, or give an interview after the performance, or pose for a photo shoot, what gives his Joker that uniqueness. His Joker seems even real because of that. it does not seem to be a character in a movie, because normaly the actor would give tons of interviews after the premier and we could even see him getting old over time. so, his performance only lives in that movie, only within those two and a half hours you can see that man existing. that makes his Joker a lot more creapy and iconic.
of course is the terrific performance to begin with, but then what i said elevates it all to the myth it has become.
i wish he was alive, but i can see that his death changed cinema and our culture as a whole. his Joker is really influencial and relevant still today, and will probably always be a symbol with many meanings. and also something always worth to watch. the dark knight will never get old.
Let's not say that suicide has a good thing about it though.

It's fascinating to realize that all these great actors that we love and in awe of, Conan used to interview them on a daily basis ..
I could be seeing things but when Conan mentioned the Aboriginal instrument Heath said didgeridoo with Conan to make sure he didn’t butcher the word. Then when Conan said ‘you play the didgeridoo?’ Heath made a conscious effort to say - I ‘can’ play. That instrument is very important to us Indigenous Australians and it’s played for cultural reasons by our men. It almost seemed like Heath was respecting that by implying he doesn’t play but he can play the instrument. Much love to him, may he rest in peace❤️
I agree, he clearly was showing he did not consider himself an expert at it but had learned to play it somewhat. I liked that he also took the time to explain the nature and the craft of them to some degree.
Gone way too soon. We will always treasure your memory and your performances, Heath.
The first time I saw Heath was in A Knight's Tale. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out he was Joker in The Dark Knight. He had range and heart.
Underrated movie. I'm embarrassed to admit that that movie chokes me up. Even more now that he's gone.
2008 was such a crazy year. I remember hearing the news that he'd died, then I saw the Dark Knight that summer, then the economy collapsed, then Obama was elected. It coincided with a weird transitional time in my life too, it was a rollercoaster.
And then we found out Heath had seven pharmaceuticals in his system. WTF! Why’?
Yeah I mean it was weird, but people will probably say that 10 years from now about 2020/2021.
@@elizabethmcleod246 It was six. Heath struggled with insomnia and anxiety, along with that he also got sick from the terrible weather during the time he filmed outside for his last movie. He had medication to dull the pain, some to stop the coughing and stuff to help with his anxiety and to help him fall asleep. He didn’t take this with the intention of drug abuse. He took this before going to bed because he genuinely just couldnt sleep. He talked to his sister the day before. His sister told him it was dangerous to mix drugs like that, especially when you havent even asked a doctor if its safe. Sleep deprived Heath had told jer that he just wanted to sleep and that he’d be fine. People do crazy stuff when they haven’t slept properly for days. And unfortunately, He ended up accidently killing himself because of it. So that’s why he had so much in him. Dude just wanted to rest for a bit.

As an Australian this is heartbreaking to watch. I remember when Heath Ledger came back with Michelle Williams and they was stalked and harassed by our media, it was disgusting. He sold the home he had bought in Bronte and left. The same happened to Michael Hutchence. I believe their treatment by media greatly affected them, it was truly appalling and always so difficult for them to come back. Both so talented and enigmatic, lost so tragically.
