I know most people are hating on the story. But I loved it. It isn't as good as the others but I still loved it.

The development of the very first Metal Gear, Big Boss acquiring funds to build MSF in Peace Walker, the foreshadowing of the sons of Big Boss, his conflict with Frank Yaeger (Gray Fox), his relationship with Roy Campbell and most importantly, the founding of FOXHOUND. It covered some important topics that would be covered in games set later in the canon. All canon MGS games have had great stories, even Rising in its own way.

And personally, although I was always against Miller wanting Quiet dead, I wholeheartedly agree that Huey should have been executed on the spot. He forced Hal into a Metal Gear as a test subject, killed Strangelove, orchestrated the "inspection" during Ground Zeroes. And worst of all...

God!! This game has an incredible story (more profound than it seems) and is such an entire work of art, from the camera work, sequence shots, the incredible music, gameplay and the messages it conveys. I think this game was made for me. I love it.

The scene where quiet has no other option but talk and guide pequod to snake's location was epic.
I feel like this game will end up being like MGS2. People don't like it in the beginning because it's not what they expected, but then everyone realizes it was actually a really good game.

+AtTheEdgeOfTime You do know there is a faster way to drag troops in PO? you could've just left some troops nearby a buddy of yours hiding in a box in the map and call a certain codec number and they will do the work for you. It did suck though that I only figured it out after doing it a bunch of times until at some point I got a codec call telling me to try the trick like they should've told me this from the beginning lol.
+AtTheEdgeOfTime Yeah I admit that's true and it can also depend on how small of a map it is that running back would be considered to be a quick process. I can agree that MGSPO is a case that there are some flaws but it was an overall good game and I have to give it props that it was the first time we saw a 3D MGS game get translated to the portable scene and the controls were similar to the PS2 titles of the time. Sure the camera controls just weren't there like how PW and MGS3D tried to compensate with a control scheme that only had a single control stick but honestly I always had the camera reset button held down most of the time to always see what's in front lol. It actually has been too long since I last played PO's story but I guess it's still memorable in some way when I still remember the overall plot but not much of the details anymore even though kojima says not to which okay it's his series after all. I should replay it eventually since I do plan on refreshing myself with the entire plot by having a MG marathon and play every game in canon order from MGS3 ending with MGS4 to see how it all fits together now spotting all of the new connections and retcons between games since I still have Ground Zeroes/Phantom Pain fresh on my mind. I'm also not sure how I'll feel about MGS5 later on as I still do like it now gameplay and mostly plotwise and unlike a lot of people initially I liked MGS2 from the start and still do but I guess in my perspective I like seeing the plot and how it connects to the other titles rather than most people who look at each of the plots individually and not as a whole because I'm just interested in that and this is coming from a guy who loves the fact that evangelion's plot can be seen and analyzed in so many ways lol.
Looking back on this game, it was probably the best game I've ever played tbh.

@@robbuc5275 To be honest I think The Witcher 3 was an amazing game but it just wasn't for me and I couldn't get into it, I personally like Metal Gear Solid V a lot better but that is just my opinion they are both great games

My two favorite moments from The Phantom Pain is the fight with Sahelanthropus. Your battlefield is huge and I love how you can fight it using different ways, my adrenaline was rushing through the entire fight. My number 1 is defintely Demon Snake or when you had to kill your own people who have been infected with the vocal parasite. That made my gut wrench taking my own team out and was a really effective way of making the player feel guilty (at least for me).
And when they started to salute you...

I still don’t understand how people can say this isn’t a good story or this isn’t a good mgs game. For me it’s easily the best gameplay ever, I have spent so many hours of my life on this game. I got red dead redemption 2 a few weeks ago and I’m not even close to being done with it but then I just felt the need to play this again and I’m right back into doing fobs and missions every day, the game is so ahead of it’s time even today, no game comes even close to this from a gameplay perspective. The story is also terrific, you have a great main story and also a few interesting side stories, I feel like a lot of people didn’t listen to the cassette tapes, they are actually pretty important and add so much to the story. This is a truly great game that is somehow under appreciated.
People don't appreciate/respect great things/persons until they are gone (dead). This game is full of dumb fools that's why good things don't stay for too long.

why are all so disappoitnted with MGSV? It's not a normal MGS like the other, more like MGS:PW. That was a great game to. TPP have all facts to finish the legacy. Now we should wait for a MG1/2 Fox engine release.

People are mad because Ch. 2 was repetitive and the entirety of Ch. 3 was cut from the game. Who knows where the story could've gone?
And let's face it. No one's ever going to buy a MG game without Kojima writing the script.

this MGS EXCEEDED my expectations. People are STILL finding out secrets about it and i love the way it enhances the other games in the series. worst story of any MGS but the gameplay beats that out ten fold for me. MGO is a good addition too. Great video.

TPP is a fantastic game. You guys feeling like you've been slapped over the BB twist need to chill out lol. The twist explains the plot holes from mg1 and mg2 perfectly. The cinematics are shorter but the story is certainly there.
Only thing I'm disappointed over is the cut content, but I've still clocked over 90 hours with more side missions to do. Jesus, I swear people are never satisfied these days lol
It even indirectly thanks you for playing and tells you that this is YOUR story as one of the best Snake men, and the one he choosed to replace him, being considered as an equal or worthy enough to carry the fame of the legendary mercenary, even if you made this comment 4 years ago and won't even see it someone else will, and hope you think as I do.

I seriously can't see the reason people are angry about the twist in this game (let's be honest. that's the only reason people are pissed)
the only thing wrong with it is it was a bit easy to see coming so far back that fan theories were made on the hospital reveal a year before the game. (real BB should have disguised his voice to throw off the scent)
however as a story it all makes sense minus the stuff that was cut that's not kojimas fault. (you can find the shit that ties it together anyway)

youre not alone. this was in my opinion the most powerful mgs game/story in the series. sure a lot was left unfinished and i wouldve preferred if skull face had been a more powerful antagonist than he wound up being.
but beyond all that i love this game.
Ahhh yeah, skull face was sort of underdeveloped. But that was kind of his character. He always spoke cryptically so I thought his motive and origin always to be unknown. Like the joker he was just a mad dog that cypher let off the lead.
Quiet was very underdeveloped mind, her "lustre for revenge" never being explained. But I also think that is part of the cut content that kojima couldn't forsee

The tape left to the phantom has Big Boss flat out saying he couldnt have survived without you. The truth ends with Solid Snakes infiltration of Outer Heaven which the real Big Boss has been creating during the game events. If you notice the Diamond Dogs logo changing to the Outer Heaven logo as the cutscene progresses.
At this point you the player are in charge, and as Big Boss states, you are one half of the legend that is Big Boss. Metal Gear is a cerebral experience beyond anything else imo. Its horrifying what Big Boss did, but necessary. I dont understand your position of not feeling like a badass when youve proven yourself throughout the entire game to be as much Big Boss as the real one. Its a matter of interpretation, fiction becomes truth and you as the phantom have been protecting the legend. Writing history as you see fit.
Calling the twist a "cheap parlour trick" is easy to say if you are taking it as a personal attack that youre not worthy of the "badass" title but as your fellow diamond dogs, and big boss himself tells you at the end none of this wouldve been possible without you.
+King Xerocole yeah if you can implant someones memories onto another soldier using hypnotherapy why even bother with Les Enfants Terrible project. Why does the army need big boss clones when it's easier to just indoctrinate everyone.
MGS logic is all over the place, like Akiba would be pretty much a DCCCEC rank soldier except when it suddenly called for him to be a S++AABBA type soldier too.
This game would have been a lot better with me in it.

Are you going to do a Metal Gear Rising Revengeance movie video? I am blown away by the effort you put into telling the Metal Gear story, I'm waiting on Phantom Pain, so I can watch them all chronologically.
I still replay that very mission, just hype myself up again since the tape said operation intrude n3... And the fact that in metal gear, younger snake goes to fight big boss after blowing through a door, explaining the smoke in front behind venom. Hideo is a god man.
My favorite was definitely #2, good scene choices.

Number 8) when it shows BB from Ground Zeroes, and then reverts back to Phantom Pain, you can see slight differences in the character model (excluding the obvious ones like hair and shrapnel), which hints at the game's ending.
I understand why the "Hardcore" true MGS fans "who been a fan off the series sense they were 3 years old kind off bullshit" didn't like the The Phantom Pain. It was a very different type off MGS game, one that took a more serious (Story) and realistic (Gameplay) approach, than an dumb fun action adventure game, like the others. Don't get me wrong i do love the series, and actually my favorite game is Snake eater. (which was honesty pretty damn stupid at times LOL) But if you look into it, kojima himself really wanted to do something different, than the same over the top and silly style. It seems like people never wonder why would kojima made a game so different than the rest, with this being his last game? Because it's the game he's been wanted to do for a long time.
To me the top was Quiet... I started cutting onions for the first time in gaming history
MGS games are my favorite series. Both the gameplays and the plots were incredibly well done! Kojima is a God in videogame!

MGS5 was Kojima at his worst (a plot twist that ruins canon, Quiet in a bikini the whole game, 80 minute codec logs) and his best (intense emotional scenes, the perfect conclusion to 20 years of stealth gameplay innovation, ending right at MG1). It's why I keep coming back even when I sometimes get disappointed with his results; because each game has moments that are better than any other game in existence

I'm kind of interested in seeing a game where the real Big Boss makes the real Outer Heaven, plus, during this time, you'll meet characters that you might know. Like Sniper Wolf! She was trained by Big Boss as a child, and then raised into a excellent Sniper. It will be awesome seeing him and her have training cutscenes together. And it can be emotional, knowing her fate. Like how we know Venom Snakes fate in MG1. It's also a opportunity to fill alot of plot holes, and since Big Boss is literally working behind the scenes, we can have a good look on the truth...the real truth. Btw love TPP one of the best endings in gaming history, unexpected, and deeper than you think.

tbh skullfaces death was executed so well (cinematically). Him gasping for a bullet in his head, while the phrase "Mission Complete, Boss." is thrown for the last time with the guitar the background. Beautiful.
Just look at those camera angles, it's really on another level, now compare it to shitty games like gears of war and metal gear rising that try hard to give a cinematographic vibe in their cutscenes but fail miserably.

When he turned the tape to the other side the scene fast traveled 10 years in to the future, Venom Snake sees himself in the mirror and all that he sees is himself as a demon, so he smashes the mirror.
I loved everything about the phantom pain! I know some dont like the story, but I loved it! The game has a certain msytic to it. Making you the player question what was real, and what was venoms hallucinations from the shrapnel in his head affecting his brain. Then the big twist that we werent playing as Big Boss, but msfs best soldier and medic who was turned into his body double, his phantom by zero, ocelot and Big Boss. In order for BB to stay hidden until he builds Zanzibareland. So the world will focus on Venom. Believing hes Big Boss while he builds diamond dogs & outer heaven. That the both of them are Big Boss.

Right before Venom puts his hand on her shoulder, it looks almost is though she is about to speak. Which is exactly what Skull Face told her to do once she got to mother base. It seems like at that moment Venom saved everyone by gaining quiet’s respect.
This is how metal gear needed to end, and it's because of us fans that it had to go down this way. We rejected the philosophical and inconclusive ending of MGS2, whining about how Raiden wasn't the character we wanted. So MGS 3 happened and in response to that we wanted to know the full story of Big Boss, even though we knew how it ended. Then finally we got what we wanted and played as Solid Snake again, so we again whined about how we didn't "game" every detail about Big Boss. So here we are at MGSV the sad death of the series, the phantom pain of losing something we all loved for so damn long burning in us. It had to be inconclusive, it had to feel off, because no matter how good of an ending we got, we'd want more. Hell the end of MGS3 is proof of that. The real story of mgsv is that the legacy of big boss is the only thing that made Venom Snake great, who is little more than a stand in for you the player. You the person who has played these games since metal gear solid (or earlier) has to carry the legacy of Big Boss, Because being a diamond dog means a hell of a lot more to us than it ever did to the actual Big Boss.
