Great game with fantastic music!
One of the few games where first-person jumping actually works! -

I remember this game. This was the game that made me want to be a game developer. I thought this game magical and wonderful as a small kid. When I see this now - it's so simple. Amazing how your perception changes. I guess the distance in time between me playing this game makes it clearer. Thank you for uploading this.
I think simple and beatable is what makes it for a kid =^-^= I wish they'd bring this to VR
As a kid I was amazed by how high I could jump and the freedom to roam compared to other ps1 games.
Why'd you get so cynical? :( It's STILL magical and wonderful, same for Chameleon Twist! :O
Sigh... it's just short and simple, that's all. :p It's no Mario, Crash, Spyro, etc., and other famous and much longer ones, but it's still good, you know? :p
I mean, don't you feel anything for the more surreal and fun kiddy land worlds like World 3 and the funny little genie boss that pops out of teacups and stuff? :p The magic is in stuff like that for example. ^^; Soundtrack is bombin' too, I could never grow out of that. :p
Where can we find the games you worked on?
Dev of dream of star haven?
This game has the BEST soundtrack.
+CabbitSD Of course, Takeo Miratsu is godtier. Unfortunately he doesn't work at Sony's development studio in Japan anymore and the composer of The Legend of Dragoon passed away in 2006. That's like losing Koji Kondo for Nintendo. But I think Nintendo has to prepare for to move on without Koji Kondo when the time comes.
@@TheGoldenPS1 sad he died, the music for the first jumping flash still remains one of my favourite ever vgm soundtracks
One of the best games on the original PS and one of the most underrated games ever made.
It seems more like a PS1 product demo than a game thats prob why people like it
This would make a amazing PSVR game
problem with that is people would get motion sickness.
Totally!
Bring a bucket.
I must have played this game when I was 5 or 6 (29 now). And it’s been popping in my head like crazy these last couple month, “what was that crazy robot bunny hopping game I played when I was a kid? Did it even really exist?”
And here it is, crazy nastolgia dreams led me here lol
I remember playing this on a demo disk as a young kid. I been searching far and wide for the name of this game.
It took 20 years, and i found it!
world 3-2 will always be a great memory of mine.
Was that the carnival rollercoaster level that had the happy go theme music? (I think the demo disc had Xgames rollerblading and Battle Arena Toshiden right)
@@1SmokingLizard I played the hell out of that demo disc 😂
@2002kferguson same here. It's funny because the demo disc had both playable and non-playable (cinematic video) content. The demo disc is why I bought "Philosoma".
If there's any game that deserves another chance with a potential remake, it's this one. I've played it myself out of fascination and I definitely had a good time with it, and it's easy to see how this would've blown people away when it first came out. I'd say this has held up fairly well and deserves a revival.
At the every least we should get a spiritual successor.
I remember going to Sears and being excited to play this on demo lol..
when i played this and toshinden when i got my first psx i knew we had landed in a new era! stunning!
I don't care how easy this game is or whatever, this game needs to be remastered for the PS4
You can't play this on the ps4? Not even on the network?
I 2nd that ... i swear i was just about to say that !!!
MajorLink good news bro
PlayStation Classic was just announced the other day and this game is on it.
It's coming on the PlayStation classic tho
As soon as the music for 3-2 came on, teleported back to childhood
This and it's sequel were a couple of my favorite games on PSX, I played the hell out of them Makes me smile just to see the first cutscene again. Thanks for this, it's such a blast from the past.
First time I played Jumping Flash was on the PlayStation classic. For an early 3D platformer that came out before Super Mario 64, it was extremely fun to play. Even though it is an early PS1 game, the graphics remind me of the Sega Saturn specifically Nights into Dreams, Panzer Dragoon, Burning Rangers, Sonic World from Sonic Jam, and Sonic R.
funnily enough, that's actually the PAL version. Granted, after playing the NA version via PSN, I can say there's barely any difference. Maybe just a little bit more slowdown.
Also, should note that the Saturn wasn't that great at making 3D graphics.
@@GiordanDiodato Yeah I now own a physical copy of Jumping Flash and comparing it to the PAL version on PS Classic, there are hardly any differences. The only real difference I notice is that in the PAL version, there are these cutscenes showing MuMus chatting about Robbit that happens after you beat the bosses in World 1-5. They also play in the Japanese version.
Cannot wait to play this game again when it comes out for the PlayStation Classic this December 2018.
I'm surprised no one's talking about how this 3D Platformer predates Mario 64
Pretty impressive, even if both games are very different! I often see Mario 64 credited as the first "3D Platformer"
@@objectionable6693 I think it's more credited as being the first 3D platformer to get pretty much everything right at the time, being revolutionary in many ways, and the one that set the tone for so many 3D games that followed it. Jumping Flash is a neat concept with some actually nice 3D environments and stuff, but I think Super Mario 64 showed just how important getting all aspects of these early 3D games right was, from the 3D world and appealing characters to the full analogue 3D controller/controls and even the camera. There's a good reason Jumping Flash isn't really talked about much today and Super Mario 64 is still considered an all-time classic. It's the sum of all the parts that makes the difference. Jumping Flash was a cool early 3D novelty game, and Super Mario 64 was basically seminal and revolutionary for the time. Many 3D platformers to this day still struggle to surpass Super Mario 64 other than purely graphically really.
1995, and you can see your own feet. Lazy devs rarely do this anymore.
I'm researching this topic and it turns out this was the first game to do this. Pretty cool.
Nope, Halo 2. Halo 1 didn't have visible feet. It also entirely lacked ragdolls. Halo 2 mixed ragdolls and animation, which I find massively preferable to either method being used alone.
Eh. The whole legs thing was good but let's face it they looked awkward as hell
Seems kinda cute that they add in the robotic bunny's feet when she's about to land.
Why does it matter if you see your feet or not?
Listening to this in the background it has a great OST.
I remember seeing a demo of this game run at a local game store and was mind blown by the 3D graphics
man this brings back tears of joy into my heart .. I was 6 back then and it was the only PS game I had XD
+Ezra Daßer same haha
I do wish there could be a remastered/HD remake of this and the second game... loved them when I was younger, still love 'em now. lol
There was a third one in japan
I remember playing this demo with my cousin. We had no idea what to do, so that was a fun but frustrating way to pass time.
Finally! Found the game I played so much when I was little. Beating the extra mode was a pain! :)
LOL, yeah. XD I had so much fun going back to games I've never beat and finally beating them, like Spyro 1 even at 100% for the secret level, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, this, etc.
remember when this was super advanced graphics
Ken S. and it still looks good today! looking forward to playing this on the playstation classic.
as an ultra 64 kid, no i don't
OMG i was searching this game for a long time! THANKS!
God, I loved playing this game back in the day.
Can you believe there was a time a FPS on consoles had to be played with the D-Pad and face buttons? No DualShock here.
included in the mini version of psx- "Playstation classic"
I remember we had this game as a kid and my older brother immediately derided it as being too kiddy. I would always defer to my older brother's judgment on what was cool and especially what wasn't, but this game was what made me break out of that. It was just too damn fun. Genius how they got first person platforming so right, and at a time when 3D platformers in general were more often than not frustrating messes for all the wrong reasons. Triple jumping through those wacky sky islands gave me some of the coolest video game influenced dreams.
I remember playing this on my brother's friends console, I was around 4 or 5, their was a way to play the Japanese version of the game on English console with paperclip, only the first english models overseas that came out had a hack to play Japanese games, than I guess they fixed it, but it was awesome back in the 90s.
PlayStation Classic, here I come!
Oh man I was trying to remember this game name for days and now I found it! I'm getting so nostalgic :''
yeah i couldn't remember the name of this game to save my life.
You'll be able to play this game if you don't already own it via the PlayStation Classic that was just announced coming this December pre-loaded with 20 classics including this game.
I am soo nostalgic 😭😭😭😭😭
How could you forget the name!? First time I played this game was back in 97 I was 17 and I never forgot the name of this game
I used to love this game so much when I was younger haha
Instead of doing my project, I spent the whole hour watching this xD
The first 3D Platformer!
I remember playing this game when I was little. I only have memories of playing worlds 1 to 3. I know my dad has played the whole game.
I loved playing it on the PSP many years ago!
I was a lot of time looking for this game, when I was a kid I remember had a ps1 cd red demo and that demo has "secret videos" of more games, and on those videos it was this game, watch a lot of time that video and fall in love with the soundtrack, love the memories I have of this game.
My first PSX game back in 1995... awesome!
I just did a stream of this but my audio failed..I got the best feels and almost lost it playing it this level..this level was on a ps1 demo and I can’t tell you how many times i played it over and over! Thanks for this :)
25th Anniversary of Jumping Flash! (1995-2020)
Thanks, I wanted to see this.
Anyone else had one of those playstation magazine demo discs with this game? lol. I always just remember the menu with the guy saying "jumping flash!"
Precursor to Metroid Prime lol this game also has a Nintendo feel to it, I think Miyamoto would have enjoyed this Sony gam.e
This game still looks great!
Wow forgot all about this game.. announced on the new ps1 mini today
I like how the toads and such are just hopping around, minding their own bidnesses, when you SMASH THEM WITH YOUR GIANT FEET.
This franchise is long overdue for a new installment. Imagine how it'd look on modern hardware.
I never played the finished game but I played the demo over and over and over lol
ShadowRelic me tooo 😭😭😭😭
dis my childhood
Cool game, still holds up today
I played this back in 96 at 14 and enjoyed it
oh lol the power pill that makes Flash go rainbow rolling
It's incredible how much I can remember even though I last played this game 20 years ago… Though I can't remember anything from World 4, for some reason. =[
Such a bizarre game. I love it
I used to love this game so frikkin much. But then it secretly disappeared, but i know it was my brother because he got tired of me playing it.
“Here we go!” That’s really all I remember lol
Why is this music sooooo good? I love it
Usagi Jojo
Because the game was made in the Late 90's.
Cinko420 >late 90s
wrong
TerrorOfTalos
But the game was made in 1995.
That's the late 90s.
Cinko420 Mid 90s actually
And the technically impressive graphics at the time? Way cool!
Go Robbit !! Jump and go !! Absolutely love this game :-)
This game was lodged in the back of my brain somewhere
Sony really needs to bring this series back for PS VR.
Of course
I remember the demo of this. It always seemed like a cool game... Kinda interesting how it looks like minecraft.
I like to think this is what inspired Metroid Prime.
Still one of the coolest games ever
Kakashi Hatake really enjoyed this game when he was a kid.
today i was playing this classic game on emulator. Weird thing was that texture for floor/island was missing so I was just jumping like crazy on higher platforms which worked just fine sort of like a game of "floor is lava". Made it all the way to tokio level 5-1 without dying. When I died i realized you loose all the carrots for your current stage so I just rage quit right away ahaha.I am spoiled now because modern games are using shit ton of checkpoints. Came here to see the ending (i beat the game several times as a kid but I forgot it) so thanks bro
I remember playing this and Gex, when I was a kid along with my sister and cousins
miss this game
ohh the memories :)
The Playstation 1 was my first game platform, One of the things I miss about the 90's, I STILL have that Game, Can't let it go.
Mariofan121 yes sir
My first psx game that i tried...weird game that showed what the psx can do...great soundtrack!! VGMpire had some of the game's music on one of their podcasts....
hahah stage 3-2 was the demo i had when i bought my Lauch PSX i love that theme 28:53
Thanks to you I knew where to look on this video... oddly the other music in the game doesn't come near the stage 3-2 theme... Best demo disc ever.
Jappe132 :)
Mountain Dew Confirmed yes i remember that.. loved that demo.. wasnt WipeOut on the demo too?
This was on a purple demo disk called "Picks." Good times.
Godspeed, fellow nostalgia traveler
i had a demo of this when i first got my playstation for Christmas in 94
My childhood, such precious mems
It is criminal that there wasnt a VR remake for this game
This game was so cool.. soo trippy
I thought that was truly amazing as a child.
PS1's Mirror's Edge
No
@@birdsofdestiny6816 yes
Awesome game
First person platforming done right in '95.
We're in 2017 and nobody managed to top this game in it. Let that sink in for a moment.
3-2 on the demo disc. I played that stage 1,000 times as a kid.
I remember seeing previews for this, along with Tobal 1
The First Ever Console 3D Platformer ever Made.
I had this game brings me back a while hahahaha
This game is perfect for VR.
I remember playing this when I was like 5, I had no idea what I was doing but I still progressed somehow 😅
Can't believe they managed to make a movement shooter for the PSX!
I concur about this game's awesomeness
First 3d platform game right here...a true history
This game is trippy.
That's vaporwave for you
The sequel's narrator was such an improvement.
Wow I remeber getting this on the DEMO disc that came with the PS1 when it first came out! I always wanted to play the game and I LOVED the music.. but forgot all about it in later years!...Thx Longplays*cubexx55*! And nice run through SchLAuChi!...... But question what ever happend to ENOS?
My dad bought this for me when I was 6, as he was coming back from his trip to Colorado
He got it for me too!!
What exactly are the jetpods used for?
I always thought this was a good looking game back then. I didn't know what the hell I was doing, but it was still a good time lol.
Nostalgia mode on
Best Ps1 Game of 1995
You can use Triple jump as well as Double jump in this game.
Do you know it?
Imagine paying 60 dollars for a 1 hour long game back in in the 90s... oh wait.
This looked so much better on a CRT TV.
Why doesn't he use his secondary weapons?
