This game tried to recreate Ira Ira Bo, one of the very famous TV game shows in Japan during 1996-1997 which challengers had to go through these crazy courses to get 1,000,000 yen. It may sound crazy, but people did manage to beat most of these courses in real life. The new courses were made one after another when someone managed to beat it.
God Blessed Video 2 You are right. Wii had enough with lots of games that exprimed the "ideas" to play with the Wii Remote: Sports, Cooking, Weapons, Racing, Fighters and more.
"Watch out, you're close to the edge" because you don't need to even be anywhere near the edge. At least when green head girl asks where you learned to fly, it's because you managed to plant your ship in a mountain or something.
I haven't seen this game in years, actually Iv'e only played it on the Underground demo. I was looking for this and many other old school classics, but could never remember the names. Thank you so much for this upload, the uploads I've seen, and the uploads I'm yet to see from you. I love you all at cubex55, keep it up.
Oh yes during that time there were tons of 'get 1,000,000 yen if you can' shows. The theme can be not to fall asleep for 3-5 days, having your baby to go through a crawling course with tons of extractions and more. These traditions were carried over to Muscle Ranking which participants were expected to display inhuman power to clear the obstacle courses.
I think you could move even faster if you had a mouse. That said, how did you NOT get the top rank in every course when you pretty much went as fast you could on a regular DualShock!? I heard the Japanese original had a more excitable host who tried to intentionally distract you, and I remember demo had an intro sequence. Wonder why those got lost in the translation?
My favorite part was the ending that they knew next to nobody would ever see. So, it's a screen saver of a falling bill multiplied with unreadable credits.
@@jemuzuthestrangebear Yup, as a part of PlayStation Underground Jampack's "Imports" section in June 1998, which was in-between the Japanese release (March 1998) and the North American release (February 1999)
The game's credits say the "announcer" is *Chris Agos* - he played Buzz Aldrin in a series called _For All Mankind_ on AppleTV+. He was also in _Chicago PD_ and _Boss_ according to IMDB.
A bad Japanese translation. It's original name translates to something like "Vibrating Stick", but then again, that doesn't sound much better, does it?
I think in the original game show, the eponymous stick would give the contestant an electric shock if they touched the edge. "Shocking Stick" might be a more accurate translation.
Man i remember playing a demo of this, on the demo disk it was all Japanese including the name, so up until this point (20+yrs later) i didnt kno the name of this game, but for somereason after you played the demo you would have to restart ur playstation...
i hope everyone in this comment section knows that this is a ps1 remake of the arcade game irritating maze which is based on the game show with this same concept
funny that you say that because like Irritating Maze, this game was developed by Saurus. Adding to this is the fact that the Arcade courses are the ones from the Neo-Geo counterpart.
I remember that this game was on a demo that was on Japanese. but i dont remember if this demo was in the same disk of the mgs that was also on Japanese. nostalgia and specially AVGN brought me here.
Well now I know where the "irritating" part of the title comes from. "Watch out you're too close to the edge" makes me want to throw a controller through the TV sreen!

I remember a Yu-Gi-Oh! manga chapter where the course was rigged to kill with electricity. Didn't know it was a real show back in the day.
can’t forget that this is a ps1 remake of the arcade game adaptation of this show
10:26 That's what she said.
This game could be better for Wii than for PSX
+Jose Roberto With all that jittery movement on the stick because of the motion control? No, thanks...
God Blessed Video 2 You are right. Wii had enough with lots of games that exprimed the "ideas" to play with the Wii Remote: Sports, Cooking, Weapons, Racing, Fighters and more.
With the accuracy adapter. A remake would be good.
My guess is that it still wouldn't be as good, this game requires you to have such an accuracy it's almost insane...
now that would be fucking irritating
What's worse: "Watch out you're too close to the edge !" or "Where did you learn to fly" ?

"Where did YOU learn to fly?"
At least "Watch out! You're too close to the edge!!!" isn't the ONLY thing he says.
"Watch out, you're close to the edge" because you don't need to even be anywhere near the edge. At least when green head girl asks where you learned to fly, it's because you managed to plant your ship in a mountain or something.
Even with bad box art it looks like a cool game.

I had that underground demo disc too!
Please mind your movement, you are located perilously at an extreme proximity of the side of the way.
Be mentally aware about your shifting of a stick, the stick is enclosing into a very close proximity of the edge!
stick too close
You are headed toward the outer area of the battle zone.
Wait wrong game
@@sssstick close
No, Mr Bond, I expect you to touch the sides!
This game should have been called Irritating Voice.
"WATCH OUT, YOU'RE TOO CLOSE TO THE EDGE!!!"

Who's here because of the AVGN?!?!?!
+thehoosierfortheUK DAMMIT!!! lol
At least this time I had an inkling of knowledge of the game already.
+thehoosierfortheUK This game's OST is actually pretty cool
+thehoosierfortheUK Bad Game Cover Art, right?
+thehoosierfortheUK yup, i had to see what it was.
+MrMistermoges and now i know. it is shit.

With all the faff and fuss they make with the courses, all I could think was "calm down, it's not THAT exciting"
WATCH OUT!!! YOURE TOO CLOSE TO THE EDGE!!! Sure is close.
holy crap i was looking for this game for ages! I thought it was japan only. i played it on a demo disk year ago.
I like how the stick descends into Irritating Stick hell, as if you could go along with it...
I have to admit this is kinda of addicting even to watch
Every time it says 'Just a moment', I think of that woman from Office Space.
Watch Out! You're too GOAL!
This game actually seems pretty neat.
I don't get what you have to do to get the "amazing" rating at the end of the level?!
I like how this game not only uses Impact font but also the Saurus logo is just a butt
My favorite part was the ending that they knew next to nobody would ever see. So, it's a screen saver of a falling bill multiplied with unreadable credits.
@jupreindeer, "Unreadable?" Hmm … Settings, Playback speed … BOSH! Job done! 😉
Jesus. This could have (and should have) been an Atari 2600 game.
I bought this game for $59.95 back in the day. great value
how expensive!
Lol
Watch out! You’re too close to accidental & undeserved financial poverty!
To be fair, if you spent 60 quid on a game called Irritating Stick you only have yourself to blame 😩
The music and low quality samples make me think of being up past 2AM
*WATCH OUT!* *_YOU'RE TOO CLOSE TO THE EDGE!!!_*
Yes, I know I'm too close to the edge! When am I NEVER too close to the edge???
THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS GAME!!!!
JOAD!!!!
I'm here on account of remembering the Jampack imports demo.
I remember playing the demo of this. It was in Japanese....I had no idea what the hell was going on.
did they really release the Japanese version of the demo in the US without translating it
I played that demo too, on mine tho you had to reset the system afterwards becuse something to do with the games program
@@jemuzuthestrangebear Yup, as a part of PlayStation Underground Jampack's "Imports" section in June 1998, which was in-between the Japanese release (March 1998) and the North American release (February 1999)
Here come the THREEEEEEE WEEEEEEEENDMEEEEEEEEELS
In my version there was no voice actor
Excellent job, ScHI!
This game was ahead of it's time.
Omg.. when I was a kid I don't remember that they used the Ms.Robot's breast like that.
Hmmm, actually, listening to it a few times, sounds more like one of Tom Kenny's miscellaneous voices.
The game's credits say the "announcer" is *Chris Agos* - he played Buzz Aldrin in a series called _For All Mankind_ on AppleTV+. He was also in _Chicago PD_ and _Boss_ according to IMDB.
wow, Saurus Takara Jaleco AND ANN...
If it weren't for AVGN, I don't know how I would have come across this title. lol
you're so good at this lol
WATCH OUT! YOU'RE TOO CLOSE TO THE EDGE!
This game looks pretty fun

Whatever happened to Chris Agos? Just want him back.
YOUR TOO CLOSE TO THE EDGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They really used Impact for everything
5:50 noice
So, why is it called irritating stick
+Eric Hoffman it is translation problem from japanese to english

Objectively the best PS1 game ever... Prove me wrong!
Is it just me, or was one of these songs also in Sonic Rush?
No, none of songs were in that game. But the voice you'rethinking of was just sampled.
this game is awesome they should remake this in 40000k resolution
what
Played this years ago on a PS1 demo disc. Thought sure it was just a japanese import demo....
God at last for PSX
18:13 AAAAAARHG!.. *yep, yep*
Good ol' Japan...
This game is so cool. I wish sticks were real.
"yep yep" soooo IRRITATING!!!
5:50 o_O

Why did they bother?
Anyone else play this on the Jampack disc?
OW
THE
EDGE
The expectation: A stick
The reality : A dot
More like "Irritating commentator"
Yep, Yep . Yap, Yap.
Irritating indeed
WATCH OUT
This game is way harder than the video makes it look. The controls are deliberately wonky and delayed.
Who else got curious from the AVGN Box Art video and came here?
how do you loose in this game?
beeto45 you touchh edge
Mr. Robot T W O !
Caddicarus brought me here.
The announcer sounds like John Viener...
I'M NORM!
Irritating Maze but without the Puffs of air in your face...
funny that you say that because like Irritating Maze, this game was developed by Saurus. Adding to this is the fact that the Arcade courses are the ones from the Neo-Geo counterpart.

So this is just kuru kuru kururin in lame?!😂
I'm getting salty just watching this
This Game doesn't look bad
What does the title have to do with the game? More like Irritating Voice
is that bride of mr. robot? its ms. robot!
Her boobs are robotic! What kind of milk do those bionic mammaries produce?
I remember that this game was on a demo that was on Japanese. but i dont remember if this demo was in the same disk of the mgs that was also on Japanese.

Seems like a pretty solid game...IF THE NARRATOR WOULD ONLY SHUT UP
Oh my goodness, I didn't know such terrible games could exist.

Good game, bad name
Thnx
