Correcto! When making an estimate for a budget in the Philippines it depends on your wants and needs. Every foreigner is different. Some like to spend time at the bar, others like to travel, and there are those who like to date & stay single. I would say if you are planning on retiring in the Philippines make sure you have a monthly income and you’re debt free.

My budget is about $1,000 Canadian (40,000 peso, or $750 USD). That includes rent, electric, Internet, cell phone and groceries. I do go places sometimes or buy items for my apartment that I don't count as part of my budget as it is not a monthly thing but I still write it down with my budget. I came here 3 times before moving here so I had a good idea what it was going to be like and what I would need for a montly budget. Everyone's budget will be different.

I think its better to hear your budget since we watch your channel and we know how you live so if we know your budget then we know how much it'll cost to live like you. I live up in Vigan and I am retired military and I have NFCU and they will finance a vehicle in the Philippines and I know this because I have a truck that I purchased a year and a half ago using NFCU. The only thing you have to do is find the exact vehicle that you want and you will need to get the VIN and the total out the door price and then give that info to NFCU and get the loan but make sure to get a little extra to cover the exchange rate because NFCU will put the money in your account and then you will have to have it wired to a philippines bank account in your name. You also need to make sure that the dealership know that whatever car you pick they will need to hold it for almost a month while you secure your loan and then transfer the funds from the US to the Philippines. I ran into that issue where the dealership sold the truck that I was supposed to get so I had to contact NFCU and they changed the loan to another vehicle that I found which ended up being the same price.

We only planning to stay for few months in a year if ever plan wil realize. Here in the states, we have paid off house and cars and has retirement, we are set, but because I would like to live in warm climate, thats possibility for us to buy a property and rent it in our absence.

People laugh at me when I tell them 800/month is too much for us.
      We don't smoke or drink
We own our house and farm. Grow 95% of our own vegetables, raise pigs and chickens. Multicab, car, motorbike and tractor and still we won't come close to 800.
That being said, I would not recommend anyone to go there with just 800 budget.
Our budget is a lot more than that. It's just what we use.

My monthly spending was $1400-1500 living in a nice place in panglao with a rented bike and 75 % of my meals eating out. I also had a gym membership for $ 40 a month. I went on loads of trips all over the place to mindanau and over to cebu on my bike. Did weekend trips to bacolod etc in the high season when the weather was good on $ 1500 a month. Whe I move back permenently later this year I will buy my own bike instead of renting so the cost will go down more. I paid 7000 php a month to rent a 125 cc honda beat.

I just want to be as sure as possible that my Social Security will allow me to take care of my family? Any input will be appreciated.

Very possible. Many doing it with far less. You hut the nail on the head with Filipino style. Don't expect 24/7 air conditioning or hot water at every faucet and eat the local foods not the imported American things. Remember off the top you won't have car insurance, house or renters insurance, high annual taxes or registration fees, public transpo easy and cheap. It all depends on your style of living.

i have a wife and 3 kids, 20 , 8 and 4.. we do fine on 800-1000 bucks a month, i eat american food and everyone else eats filipino food, i run my aircon 24/7. my electric is 5000 peso a month.
i dont know what i would spend an extra 1000 bucks on really. my wife already buys new shoes for the kids every time she goes shopping!.
i save up for vacations and big purchases like washers and fridges and stuff if we need those replaced or something or medical emergency.. thats what we do with the rest of our monthly budget, BANK IT.

Realistic Numbers, except older retired expats usually have Prescription Meds if only for maintenance. I budget a bit over $200 a month on average for Meds, OTC Supplements, lab tests and occasional doctors visits. I have paid $370 a year for PhilHealth just in case to go to Hospital without entry issues. Will probably change to MaxiCare for Lab Tests and Clinic visits. I also give my partner some money each month so she can send money to her elderly Poppa every month. I go back to USA every three years, so about $3,000 a year. I save money for Self Insuring also - I plan on having $10,000 in Cash Just In Case.

New Sub, good video great energy. I'm an early retiree and I've been living in Cebu City for almost ten months now. The money you can save living here is amazing compared to the U.S. Also, the ability to shed away decades of stress will shine new light into your life and can change how you feel about living. Even the sunshine hits differently here after a while; effervescent is the word that comes to mind. After a while it's not even about the money it's about feeling more alive than you ever thought would be possible again. Come here to experience getting that deep rooted stress out of your life. I made a good life for myself back in America. Cadillacs, BMW's, Crew Cab, my businesses, home ownership 'cash no struggle with home payments no bank needed' and still wasn't happy. I wouldn't go back if I were promised double the pot that I left behind. People that come here and do nothing but cry about this and that. Well, those are the same people that no one missed once they got on that plan heading out into obscurity. Life is truly what you make it to be.

You could save that $200 per month and avoid brown outs if you invest in a solar system. 👍

Being in the Philippines I'd hate to own a car with the traffic you'll be sitting for hours so why bother? I'll just stay local like within a few blocks of my place and that's it.

I spend 6 months a year there and my budget is less than $1,500 easy. Of course I don't drink though. I run my AC probably 16 hours a day. The inverter type and my bills never much over 4000 pesos. Maybe 4,500 once in a while.
