There are a few different permanent residence options, SRRV (retirement visa), 13A (if married to a local) 13 Quota (50 per country per year), but you can also easily stay 3 years straight as just a tourist. That 3-year count can easily be reset at any time with a quick exit and re-entry.

Is it safe to eat bay marie food in the Philippines? We've always avoided it in other Asian countries because we don't know how long the food has been sitting in the warming dishes, which can be a breeding ground for bacteria.
Me and the wife have been living here for 4 years quite well for about $800 a month. We do have our own property and house built and paid for. That keeps the accommodation costs down. But we also have a new Toyota that brings the cost up again. So yes, you can live on $800 or even less depending on where you choose to live.

Yeah, how did you buy a house, when thats illegal? And its near impossible to live on 800 a month. Especially for 2 people. You could spend more than that on 1 meal.
I retired to the Philippines but my philipino wife scammed me then deserted me and went back in the UK fortunately l had paid for my house so no rent or mortgage so i live on 48k pesos a month and i have a maid that looks after me its great living here but do not get involved with a philipino women as they expect you to keep there extended family and that can bankrupt you so be warned
I actually just got back from the philippines. It depends where you live. if you live around bgc mandaluyong area. 1 bedroom condo at shang ri la is about 1k usd a month. food outside 10USD per meal
Dumaguete is a provincial city albeit, developed, and the cost o living is cheaper. In major cities, you still can live under $1000 if you live on the thrift side (but decently). A family of 4 can still live comfortably with $2000 a month within major cities (Philippine standard). Of course this excludes living in cosmopolitan cities and with western standards.
A trick I learned from drinking... I mean "living" in Mexico: When first on the scene and learning the basics, eat where you see cops going to eat. If the food is bad, the cops aren't going to keep eating there and/or the place isn't going to stay open. I've found this applies to every other part of the world I've been to.
@@LivingOverseasTV Better to buy a new motorcycle. They tend to drive things into the ground a lot. You can still get one for around $1000 US new if all you need is a basic bike.
It can be done for way less. You just have to be smart about it. I have traveled in many countries, not just the Philippines and always managed on a few hundred. You have to think outside the box and always remember that less is more.
At night medical care it’s gotta be emergency room service and you only have to pay less than $200 without insurance? Try it in the States oh and the dreaded 3-8 hr wait, consider it a bargain.
If one can cover these major source of expenses like rent + utilities, food, medical insurance and transpo then you are on top of everything. Everything else will be optional. Now if you like having a fun lifestyle like if you enjoy nightlife, malling and other recreation, you will need to be careful as these can be the main reason why you could spend more than your budget. $700 is a realistic budget but won't be advisable for the first few months living here and if you want luxurious way of living. You need to have an emergency fund too for unexpected events like accidents or you want to get our quickly. At $1000 you will be have a middle class to upper middle class lifestyle over there. Lived in the PH for the first 20+ years of my life so that's for credibility.
Be there many times,if you dont need to workout,or pool or bars or nice food or doctor, you will spend more ,but if you are really tight and squeaky maybe 1200 dollars
There's no official foreigner's fee. But some doctors can try to scam you asking $10000 for dislocated bone in shoulder. Because some of them are renting rooms in clinics and work like a small business inside.
If you had a dislocates shoulder you dont go to doctor but instead find a Hilot which can do a massage and bobe realignment. They can also tell if you really need a doctor.Hilots are really good they are like a chiropractor but with traditional medicine practice.
Yes I stayed in a hotel ( circle inn) Bacolod for far less than that. I ate out several times per day and paid for extended family dinners too for far less. I take jeepney trikes and taxis several times per day everyday for far less. I frequent bar daily and drank heavy for far less plus I bought beer for my hotel room. I ate and shop daily for far less. I taken several hospital visit for insects bites for far less. I even shop for others and gave out money to needy people and I only spend about 13000 dollars for 32 day vacation. I was living large. I even ordered fresh caught grouper fish when I ate out at restaurants along the ocean front. I ate. Lot at Japanese and Chinese restaurants along at eating at sm mall Asian buffet. Well -- I sure hope I can make my $1500 SS income work over there ? -- Lipa City is reported to be very cheap and cooler weather at 1000 feet elevation. I don't have official crime statistics. I feel safe. Sometimes something happens, like everywhere else in the world. For example, the murder of the governor or there was a case of a crazy tramp attacking a local woman with a knife. I think stealing is the most common crime, and yet not as common as in big cities like Manila

I was a single female doctor ..... My expenses ran to $3500 a month. I obviously wasn't hanging around at the bars but when we went out for dinner it was high end. - Renewing tourist visa: about 2000 PHP ($40 USD month) or 3500 every two months, plus you need to buy an Alien Registration Card once a year (around $75 USD or 3000 PHP)
- Health saving: 5000 or $100 USD - try and put some money in savings every month for emergencies or health care needs, dentist, etc..

@@yrosales546 your monthly budget does depend on your lifestyle but I have known a new zealander and his filipina wife leaving in ermita, manila for under P50,000 a month (little shy of US$1k). There are also couples living in P160k condos(US$3k) in BGC.
Does the philippine allow permanent residency for Americans? And how much does it cost to get it?
There are a few different permanent residence options, SRRV (retirement visa), 13A (if married to a local) 13 Quota (50 per country per year), but you can also easily stay 3 years straight as just a tourist. That 3-year count can easily be reset at any time with a quick exit and re-entry.
Tourist visa can be extended up to 3 years
No.
@@TSBye-qo1vc SRRV is no permanent residency. You can't stay 3 years as a tourist. Quota visa in impossible. All WAY too expensive.
They only give 2 month tourist visas. Must renew every 60 day in their office in person.

Filipino food isn't too good or healthy. You're much better off eating at home.
Yes and Malaysia is even cheaper and more options. And I can have buffet for two in a small city in China with $5.5. The Philippines is expensive for its income level.

Is it safe to eat bay marie food in the Philippines? We've always avoided it in other Asian countries because we don't know how long the food has been sitting in the warming dishes, which can be a breeding ground for bacteria.
I like the gym. Do they have any healthy food options? Western grocery stores?

Good video. Thank you.
Me and the wife have been living here for 4 years quite well for about $800 a month. We do have our own property and house built and paid for.
That keeps the accommodation costs down. But we also have a new Toyota that brings the cost up again. So yes, you can live on $800 or even less depending on where you choose to live.
Liar. Foreigners can't own property.
Hello I came across your page while searching for remote work to live in Philippines and I was wondering if you have any remote work me and my gf can get into even if we’re making below 1k a month , I was wanting to move so I could train martial arts to fight professionally and to also get away from the toxic lifestyle of where were living so I’m taking the leap but just need a way to make usd if possible please let me know it would be a blessing and we can set up a video call or I could send my email for you to get to know me more because I understand it'll be hard to make a decision under a youtube comment to see if we’re the right fit to work with you or help find work

Yeah, how did you buy a house, when thats illegal? And its near impossible to live on 800 a month. Especially for 2 people. You could spend more than that on 1 meal.
Very informative video. Btw, what's the cost of dentistry
About $25 per dental filling

Dumaguete is a provincial city albeit, developed, and the cost o living is cheaper. In major cities, you still can live under $1000 if you live on the thrift side (but decently). A family of 4 can still live comfortably with $2000 a month within major cities (Philippine standard). Of course this excludes living in cosmopolitan cities and with western standards.
It's "p" not "$".
@Brian-qg9bm, Good tip. Thanks for the advice.

$5.5 for that two meals? I can have buffet for two in a small city in China. The Philippines is expensive for its income level.

A $1000 is more than reasonable, no need for the $1,500 a month, if you are single and not have be at bars every weekends!

I don't have official crime statistics. I feel safe. Sometimes something happens, like everywhere else in the world. For example, the murder of the governor or there was a case of a crazy tramp attacking a local woman with a knife. I was a single female doctor ..... My expenses ran to $3500 a month. I obviously wasn't hanging around at the bars but when we went out for dinner it was high end. I lived in a private suite at a hotel where my cleaning and laundry was done, they also ensured that a member of private security escorted me from the hospital to my apartment at night. I have diferent expiwrience.i cook at home potato $3 kg meat more expensive than in the west specially beef bit pricy.milk $4a liter cheese ham is a luxury. good bread and cakes r expensive.so i spend about $300 on food.i eat out once every few days to eat nice pizza or clean restaurant.i dont eat old food with flies at food court after i poison myself so bad.
So i spend about $100 on restaurants.rent is questionable because if u r on holidays u can tolerate anything but on the long run u want confortable place.so it will cost u at least $300 a month.i spend $200 on masage i love it.
Entertainment $200
Going places and shoping$100 to $200 a month.motorbike petrol service taxis at least$100
Alcohol $50
Medical and other expenses internet 100 to 200.
Thats minimum if u have bad spending habits its double.
Btw i dont eat rice often maybe once a week.?
Im lucky my gf doesnt do nails make up clothes or anything.if u have a greedy gf she will cost u $500a month ive been with girls like this b4.
If i ever retire there i go to emty place not like manila or cebu and buy farm so i can have my own food.
Still u need to buy olive oil at $15 a bottle or butter at $5.its more expensive than in the west exept alcohol which is cheap.same with smokes if u smoke much u will b happy in phil.
If u r single its great because u can have hundreds of girls they like foreigners.i got bored with diferent girls i found a good one.good luck dont watch one guy .he is russian and he doesnt eat potatoes and bread? Give him time he will miss it lol.
