Great project for children learning to sew with parental guidance. Sofa pillows can be found at thrift stores and garage sales very inexpensively, and the color doesn’t matter because they will be covered by the shirt. Sleeves and cuffs can be added to the back as pockets. Shape doesn’t matter because they are obviously part of the shirt.
I could see making them from cool vintage thrift finds too, like Hawaiian prints for a summer/beachy look, flannel for autumn and winter coziness, or calicos for cottage core.
Awwww. I’m sorry for your loss. This is a lovely way to let her hug his memory. I never wash shirts before I sew them in case they still smell like the person. Otherwise, you can also spray just a tiny bit of their cologne on the pillow.
I really enjoy your videos, Tim. While all of my sewing until now has been quiltmaking, you inspire me to try other things. I think the sleeves, stuffed and attached as part of the pillow is way creepy! lol That may be better as a halloween decoration with no emotional significance rather than as a memento of a loved one.
Thank you Tim, I also am not a fan of videos where they don't talk & just use hand gestures, also I like to see the sewing not just after they sew. But as you say each to their own. Blessings 🩵
I made one of these for a friend that lost her husband I left the sleeves on and stuffed them I buttoned the sleeves together and she slips them around her she says it's like he is hugging her❤
That is wonderful! So often a piece of clothing brings back such strong memories and it’s also hard, at times, to dispose of a loved one’s clothes. This helps with both situations. I bet your kids and grandkids hug those pillows quite often.
Love your tutorials, you are such a great instructor. Thank you.
How nice of you to say!!
Great project. Thank you Tim. ❤🇨🇦

I lost my husband in 2021 and made pillows and mug rugs foe the daughters and grand granddaughters…they loved them 16:26
I love that! I’m sorry for your loss.
I made about 12 shirts from my son's best friend's shirts for his family, for Christmas.
That’s so lovely!
Love this. Thank you.
This is genius!
Brilliant idea! What about putting the label on the pocket, similar to what you see on shirts.
Ooh, that’s a good idea!

Yes, please do a label video.
It’s in the works!
You could use any extra fabric for the lining of a tote bag or zippered bag
Great idea!
How about using the sleeves to stuff for a door rest to block the airout??? Nice craft!

What a wonderful way to do it. I’m so glad she liked what you made for her.
I made my children and grandchildren out of my husband’s shirts.

Where did you get that sewing guide?
I would love to see this done with a woman's shirt
That could easily be done!! Have fun!
