Very interesting that you would combine three things that were invented by the same guy - Walter Hunt. He invented the safety pin (1849) and the lockstitch sewing machine (1832). He also invented the little gripping foot that advances the fabric for a uniform stitch. Hunt invented many other things including the fountain pen, leather suction cups used by circus performers to walk upside down, the precursor to the Winchester repeating rifle, the knife sharpeners that you have in your kitchen with the round opposing disks (also the artificial sharpening stone), and a nail making machine that may be the first "cold heading" machine - now an entire industry. You can read about him in the book - Necessity's Child: The Story of Walter Hunt, America's Forgotten Inventor.

I do have a foot with a hole in my attachment box that does allow for a similar ‘couching’ feed, but this would permit a larger cord depending on the size of the pin. However, I don’t have any place above on my machine to hook it up like this machine shows so I would be feeding it from the end of the pin which is not as good as this video shows.
