    You and your mom have such a cute little dynamic! I bet she just adores the fact that her adult daughter comes over to spend quality time with her. So sweet! Such a nice relaxing day with mom. 💗 I'm going to have to find those crunchmaster chips, yum! 😊

    Love The Shining! Thanks Mama Dray for the book rec; definitely going to investigate that one. You and your mother are such lovely people -- so beautiful -- inside and out. Hope you're having a great Sunday. I'm headed to Costco for some replenishments!

    I loved 11/22/63 too. As someone who was in high school during that time, it brought back many memories. I watch you and your Mom with so much joy. My daughter lives far away so we have very little time together. One day soon, I hope to move to her city (Tampa) so we can enjoy each others company like you and your Mom do! PS. the granola and the smoothies had my mouth watering!

      Thanks Ms Ann! When you get a chance to visit Tampa be sure and visit Bo's ice cream (if you aren't vegan/dairy free that is). They have the very best vanilla soft serve.

      Thank you for the recommendation, Dr Dray. I'll share it with my daughter so she can try it. I checked the location and its only 14 minutes away from her house. (And it had glowing reviews on Yelp!)

    Oh, really enjoyed the visit with your Mom, she really seemed like a very nice lady. Tell your mom that some special memories I have is making mud pies and using flower petals as decorations on my grandparents farm when I was a kid. I was a kid myself through those years she was speaking of referring to the book on Stephen Kings. Her talking about it made me want to now get the book and read it. Gonna try to make granola for my son to take to his work to snack on during the day. Really enjoyed the video

    Like so many here, I look forward to your Saturdays with your mom. I love that she's game to try anything & she's getting comfortable on camera. Your smoothie bowl looked great, & I loved that you addressed the lack of satisfaction when 'drinking' a smoothie. I thought I was the only one who looked around for food after drinking one! Blessings! Jackie in NY state

    Your mom is precious. My favorite smoothie is (per serving) 1/2 cup of blackberries, a cup of pineapple, large handful of spinach, either walnuts or almonds w/ a teaspoon of Chlorella. We usually drink smoothies for breakfast, occasionally on the dog days of summer, my husband prefers them for dinner.

    Hi Andrea! It's great to see you and your mum together, I love it. Please say hello to her. I love " The Shining ", especially because of Stanley Kubrick. I love his films.👍 Here in Germany, they used to show many of the Rosamunde Pilcher's novels on tv. I used to watch them every Sunday to learn german. They were all filmed in Scotland, Ireland and other parts of the UK, I guess. Awesome places!They were played by both German and British actors. They were fun to watch.😉I would like to try out your granola recipe. 😆

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому +1

      Yeah "The Shining" and "Delores Claiborne" are some of my favorites. I would love to visit so many places in Scotland, Ireland, and definitely Berlin some time. The granola from Cambria Joy is so good, so if you make it let me know if you like it too :)

    I can’t do audible books, or read on a kindle or iPad. I need to hold a book in my hands. I wonder about the future of books, though. Kids don’t read much today, as much as I try to buy them books, or give them the favorites of myself when I was their age, the ones in my family just don’t seem interested. Makes me sad. Maybe I’d have been the same if we’d had all this technology when I was a kid, but I feel I learned so much about the world from being a heavy reader. I feel there is a lot they are missing out on.

  • @manifestingjayde2539
    @manifestingjayde2539 7 років тому +2

    Totally agree with you re: bookstores vs audible...the tactile experience is where it's at, but I do so much reading for work my eyes just can't handle it so I'm all audible now. The crapshoot can be who is doing the "reading" of the book. It can make or break it.

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому

    It's fun hanging out with you and your mom! I need to look for that almond milk your mom found at Costco. I haven't seen that brand before. We spent our honeymoon in Estes Park in September, 20 years ago. The Aspen trees were beautiful, with yellow leaves. We didn't see the hotel though, I think it was closed for some reason. Enjoyed the video!

    Hi Dr. Dray,
    Funny you mentioned The Shining, it was the one movie that was so scary for me that it affected my life for a while, never had that happen from a book or movie since or before. It was far more scary than any other horror film for me. It also didn't help that the hotel lodge that was used in the filming was near where I grew up in Oregon.
    Have a good week!

    Hi Andrea, Thank you for your wonderful channel. I have learned so much from you and you are truly an inspiration. Always a treat to see your mom in your vlogs, my BFF is my mom too. I'm all about the sunscreen now, unfortunately I live in Canada and that means that I cannot readily get my hands on the wonderful products you love. Nevertheless, there are some nice comparable products here, at least we do have most of the CeraVe products. Have your ever tried Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Creamy Wash (Fragrance-free) for washing your face? No ceramides but it is very gentle and no perfume.
    One quick question if I may, I do have seborrhea dermatitis and I love my Head & Shoulders, but I noted that if I am not consistent, then the SD always comes back too quickly. I read somewhere that it is a good idea to switch up the treatment between the H&S (active ingredient) and another like Selsun and alternate otherwise the SD gets resistant when using the same shampoo/active ingredient. Is this correct? Hope you have a wonderful day! Cheers :)

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому

      Thanks! Yeah seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic condition, so when you stop the mainentance (i.e. using H&S or selsun) it will come back. It has nothing to do with seb derm becoming "resistant" to these...but rather these ingredients merely control it...they don't cure it so you have to keep using them

    I do find that glycolic acid is irritate but i find that it may help people with acnes than anti aging thing. After using moisturizer, i apply glycolic acide on my acnes and the acnes disappear after 1-2 days. Do you think that we can use it that way?

    Glycolic products + sun exposure has been harsh in my experience! I was using Mario Badescu's Glycolic products ONLY for a year. It's the stuff that was keeping my acne controlled.
    I did notice that Panoxl, unlike OXY (benzoyl peroxide face wash) - does have glycolic in the ingredients. I bought the OXY because it was cheaper :(
    Neutrogena's creamy redness reducing salicylic face wash ingredients lists glycolic in there too. I have the creamy cleanser, but I starting using Marios glycolic wash (diluted).
    Let us know if you have any opinions on diluting glycolic face washes :)

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому +1

      in a wash form, like panoxyl, it can be helpful to soften the skin and enhance efficacy of benzoyl peroxide or sal acid. In this video i am referring to glycolic acid leave on products, not to its presence as an inactive ingredient in washes

    New subbie here! I just enjoy your vlogs and the information so much! You are so beautiful! Speaking of Glycolic acid chemical peels I have a question... what do you think of The Ordinary glycolic acid 30% BHA 2% peel? If you have not tried it, can you review it? I’ve been using it and I like it, but not sure if it will cause hyperpigmentation or make me age, like you mentioned. Is it similar to the chemical peels you use in the office? Your information will help me a lot. Thank you.

    Hi, Dr. Dray. I'm going to be doing some hiking in New Mexico next month, and am considering purchasing some clothing, including a Columbia long-sleeved shirt that claims to have UPF 40 sun protection. My son is skeptical of such claims and thinks any long-sleeved shirt would be fine. He wants to know if there have been any scientific studies done that have proven that wearing such clothing really makes a difference in the absorption of harmful rays. If you have any information on this, I would be very grateful!

    Dr. Drey, HELP!! Speaking of glycolics, I put some 14% glycolic AHA serum on my neck and chest. OUCH, I now have chemical burn, what can I do to relieve the pain and peeling. I use CeraVe am and pm, and I've applied aloe, but it's not helping. Thanks!!

      Dr Dray Yes, I saw that but liked the looks of yours. I'll eat ch that blog again or watch hers and adjust. I liked the 11,24,63 Stephen King but very long. I liked the Glass Castle a lot but won't watch the movie for that will disappoint me ( books are always better) BEST BOOK I really recommend is The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. You won't regret it. It's a historical romance . I usually read light hearted books, enough bad stuff in the real world without reading about it. Thank you 😊 much.

    Yikes! I thought it was just me with the Glytone20 I purchased. It stings like crazy! I tried it on my hands at night and it stings them as well. I may end up using it on my callused feet. 😏

    Your smoothie bowl looks really good. Do you ever add spinach or kale to your smoothie?. I add half of an avocado in mine and ground flax seed. I usually put mine in a tall glass and eat it with a spoon.I put dried whole cranberries in it and they sink to the bottom. I"ll try it in a bowl. You and your mom have such a sweet relationship. So nice to see. Have a great day!

    Hi Dr Dray, I don't know if you already adressed that on your videos... But do we really need something to "restore" the PH of our skin after cleansing? Do we need toners do they even do anything to the skin? (toners with no alcohol and no perfume of course...). Thks!

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому

      No, but moisturizers should be applied after cleansing (even just after wetting the skin with water) for sure, so as to reduce transepidermal water loss

  • @tnt01

    You mention Glycolic acid causes hyperpigmentation. But, I use the pads to erase the hyperpigmentation. I'm not sure what else to use? I'm very diligent with sunscreen afterwards. I feel like it is a no win situation?

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому

      It does not cause, rather excessive/improper use of glycolic acid and other acids...such as what can often occur with many cosmetic skin care products, lends itself increased irritation and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. This is why I am not a fan of using all of these acids, outside of saliclic acid acne face washes, in cosmetics. The "win" is to just use sunscreen

    Dr Andrea! Your skin is looking great! So smooth and even...I think the Adapalene is really working for you! Ask your mom to try it so you can monitor its effectivness on mature skin. She and I look to be about the same age and I'd be interested to know how she responds. Also...can aha's and bha's be used concurrently with Retin-A 0.1%? I typically use a 2% salacylic acid toner at night and then apply my Retin-A prescription. Does bha diminish the efficacy of Retin -A?
    Thank you for your wonderful channel!
    You are so bright and funny! I can imagine how proud your mom must be...

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому

      Thanks!! Neither BHA (salicylic acid) nor any AHAs (glycolic, lactic, mandelic, etc) be applied simultaneously with tretinoin (retin A) as they compromise the stability/efficacy of tretinoin

    Also now I'm curious, is glycolic acid safe when used during professionally done facials?

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому

      glycolic acid is safe in cosmetic peels performed by a health care provider for the appropriate skin concern...it cosmetic products it is kind of lame and irritating imo
