My toolbox was crammed with New and fouled sparkplugs too lol. Choke cable was re-installed wrong, choke was on constantly. The previous owner just put in a new plug every time it fouled out (anything over half throttle pretty much) I just Installed cable properly and have been beating on it for years. These hondas are so tough and fun and easy to work on!! Sweet vid!

I've got a few Honda ATC's, they never quit. Best bang for your buck if you want to off road, cheap and easy to fix/maintain.

I could be mistaken, but I believe the ATC 200ES, was known as the "Big Red" in Canada. Really liked the reverse on a smaller machine, like this. Very easy to work on. Great find!

Yup your right.. this is a 1984 big red.. the only year that it came with a 200cc engine with High, low and reverse.
In 1985 they went to a 250cc engine with only 5 speed and reverse.

Fixing up a few i got for cheap, what blows my mind is how simply cleaning them and maintaining them will make them live forever..ohh but that's to hard for some people

Love the project Hondas (this and the 300 Fourtrax). This video specifically reminded me of the 87 Fourtrax 350 my dad got for free from a coworker because he decided to park it on his lot one day a left it untouched for 6 years (in Northern Ontario to boot), when we found it there were trees grown up all around it and it needed to be dragged out by skidder. We took it home and between my dad and I, got it idling (albeit not happily) after a few hours. Fast forward a couple months and replacing the fuel pump (the gas tank was under the seat), cylinder head gaskets, and fixing some of the wiring, and it ran great for years until he sold it last fall. But we still got the 96 300 4x4 Fourtrax, and an 84/85 (manufacture sticker says april 84, so I'm not 100% on it) Yamaha moto4 200.
Keep up the great work, I love the old bikes

With the oil and the plugs I would assume its burning oil and and fouling plugs out along with the oil sealing from the fins it probably has a slight blown head gasket allowing oil to seap from the oil passage that goes to the valve train and it will leak into the combustion chamber

Fill the gas tank with apple cider vinegar, let sit for 3-4 days then rinse out, it will be shiny clean.

grew up with these. seam bottom of gas tank would leak frame would crack in multiple areas brakes never worked tires always go flat but they always start even on -15*f days. most important tool on a dairy farm when cows get loose will do circles around a 1800 pound mean bull bringing newborn calves back from pasture taking wagons out to the field and out running a f2 tornado!! when cows get break loose at night lost in the tall corn rows miles from home just shine the headlight into the field they all come out and follow the 200s back like sheep

Only a vintage Honda starts first pull without smoking with a blown head gasket. You can see where it's been leaking it might smoke a bit when it warms up Wich is most likely why all the spare plugs👍👍✌

Check your spark make sure they have enough compression if you have spark good then check your carburetor And I would not turn it over or try starting it with no air filter at all and drain all that Old gas out make sure the tank is clean then put fresh gas in it

No, no brake needed to operate the hi-lo-reverse selector. You can actually switch while in gear.
I have to "rock" it a little sometimes to shift, but no brake.

Lots of plugs on an old Honda 3 wheeler usually means the needle jet and jet needle are worn ,carb parts from Honda for older bikes are hard to get so instead of fixing it right they got a Chinese carb ..

I got a 84 Honda TRX200 for free a few days ago. The motor was all seized up so I got it unlocked, rebuilt the carburetor, and fixed the spark issue and it’s starts up first pull every time and runs like a champ but now the hi low and reverse knob is getting stuck and when I accelerate it’s getting a loud clunk sound and kinda jerks. Any suggestions or ideas on what the issue could be?? 🤔
