*“Is dad sick?”* it’s awful that they had to have a code for needing urgent help, but it’s such a good thing to do if you are in a dangerous relationship.
The fact that Kendy and her parents had a safe word ("is dad sick?") Just incase she was unable to speak freely on the phone tells me everything I need to know about what kind of hell she was living in with that man.
Code word for any woman with their parents at any age should be necessary. Ya jus never know any more who you are really with till you go thru certain situations
Honestly, if you listen to the timeliness, seems like this chick was a cheater. Seriously. How many stable women do you know get into a relationship while still in a divorce proceeding?
I have/had a safe word we used with my daughter who was in a bad relationship with a narcissist boyfriend, took her just over 5 yrs to be able to stand up and say enough and get out.. now she's dealing with court and charges and custody.. when it gets to that point, you know it's bad...
Something everyone should have regardless if they are in a domestic violence situation or not. I have one with my daughters and they with me. You never know when you can only say a word or two.. Be safe out there…

I’d have to agree with you. I remember when I went thru this with my ex. She was cheating and then making it worse, asked for a divorce but she wasn’t ready to move out due to expenses. So I packed a bag and left immediately and then turned off all the utilities that were in my name. I couldn’t even be under the same roof nor in the same room because I was so distraught. I went from suspicion of her cheating to losing everything in a matter of 10 minutes. That is a lot for anyone to process and go through. My situation was not an abuse situation. It was just an unfaithful wife situation. The bottom line is, there’s no way I could stay under the same roof as her after what she did to me. I was under the belief that “you want a divorce, you’re a serial cheater, but you want to stay here in my house for convenience?” No way. I HAD to get out of there because I was feeling quite unhinged and absolutely crushed. People can be so awful 😞 😢
Sometimes you have to or the court will automatically give the house to the spuse who stays. Talk to a lawyer for advice, not a youtube comment section.
The fact he thought he was gonna get away with “she shot herself” and she was super happy and about to leave him and had plans for future 🤦🏽♂️ just stupid
I live in Kamiah Idaho, and Kendy was the daughter of a couple who are my friends, and her brother is someone who would camp with me. I had met Kendy a few times, and her daughter as well. Kendy was very happy and had a new relationship with a man who is related to my family through marriage. The minute this happened, they ALL knew Dan did it. Janie (her mom) is not someone who was gonna let anyone get away with anything. Especially in this case. These are hardcore small town country folk. When the medical examiner ruled it was suicide, her mom and dad were livid. And I knew it wasn't the end of it. But really, all I wanted to say was that Kendy was excited about moving back here where her family was and her new love would be. We all knew what really happened. She was definitely not suicidal. Her husband was a jerk, he was abusive. And always causing trouble. Nobody liked him, not even his fellow cops. He is where he deserves to be. And he should be thankful, because he's safe from her mom there. Lol! Such a sad thing for my friends. Especially her brother, a guy who has never gotten over the death of his wife who succumbed to cancer. And now his sister is gone too. 😢

NEVER EVER tell an abuser a domestic violent man or woman that you are leaving, its how people are killed most of the time in these situations, you go ahead do it all when he is not home and NEVER finds out your plan, get your money your stuff and one glorious day when you are alone for a few hours LEAVE !!! the end
Exactly. If it's possible to do so. I did. I just vanished one day. Never went back. Left everything there. But we didn't have kids, loans or anything that was joint. I had then and still have my own money. No joint accounts. I will never put myself in a situation where I'm dependent on someone else.
@@sorryifoldcomment8596Nope. There are resources to help people in these situations. I work for one. we have lawyers to assist people in these situations, and will go to court with them. This isn't the 50's anymore.
I have a friend that knew his wife was cheating on him. Instead of going insane he hired a private investigator to follow her around and gather the evidence. He took her court and judge told her to never return to the house. She wasn't even allowed to get her cloths or personal belongings. It was one the smartest ways I've ever seen such a situation handled. Most people are stupid and just lose their minds.
And the weird high pitched voice when he was answering questions? I guess that's what he thinks distraught people sound like. I think he'd have been more successful if he had gone with the monotone, "I'm in such shock that I can't emote at all" voice. Did his acting coach teach him nothing??
The fake crying is absolutely ridiculous. I'm glad the detective pointed out how odd the crying and blubbering was for a former "Cop and Marine". I literally said the same thing to myself before it was said in the video.
I mean if you truly love someone you’d be distraught if they died so crying isn’t the issue it’s the fakeness of it. Just clear acting. No depth of emotion in his actions or words.
I know he’s a lousy actor and he was faking but who cares if ur a cop or marine ? If someone you truly loved died I doubt you would be cold as ice . How dumb
If he wouldn't have been a retired State Police officer and just at everyday average citizen he would have already been handcuffed in the back of a police cruiser on his way to the station to be interrogated or interviewed whatever you want to call it. That entire house is considered a crime scene and he should not be inside it being interviewed at their table. They screwed up and contaminated the crime scene by doing this.
When I left my abusive ex, I didn't have a big window of time when I could pack things we needed. I left quickly with my 2 young sons and a couple plastic grocery store bags with a couple days of clothes. We went to a women's shelter, and when I went back to the house to get the cats and the rest of our belongings, some male relatives went with me, and 2 police officers were there as well. I was able to leave the cats and a lot of my stuff at my grandparents' house, but I didn't want to put anyone else in danger because I didn't know if my ex would do anything violent if I stayed at someone's house. We were able to stay at the shelter for 90 days. There were security guards, locks on all the doors... I knew we'd were safe there. And when we moved out, we moved into a nice house that was like a "safe house" provided by the city, where a woman and her kids could live and the ex wasn't allowed to know where she was. That's how I found out that there were houses like that all over the city, just "hiding" in neighbourhoods. You are in the most danger when you physically leave an abusive relationship, and in the weeks and months right after. You have to have a plan to keep yourself, and your children and pets safe. It makes me so angry when people who have never experienced that kind of relationship say, "just leave", "she could just leave". No, you can't!!! Many women even leave and go back, because the abuse when they go back isn't "as bad" as the violence and fear they experienced after they left.

Sometimes people are able tell that a victim can't be saved and unless you have all those details you can't make that determination.
Well, at the end of the day the regular cop can't do s*it if the court doesn't decide or agree to take measures against the man. This woman completely understood what he was capable of, she had a safe word with her parents, and she still cheated on him repeatedly with different men, instead of getting out clean. She was a real risk taker.
Hello Joe. Unfortunately I have personal experience in DV. I went thru it with my children's father. In my own experience, I did the same things. He wasn't someone I could just leave. I had to do it in stages.. like start saving coin change, get copies of important documents, find a place to hide for a few days, get extra car keys made, lots of planning. During that time & after I didn't want to expose any of my loved ones or friends to him in case he tried to hurt them... Or worse!!! Stupidly, my idea was 1) I have to keep hiding my abuse.. although most people knew & I didn't let on and 2) I thought I could handle whatever punishment he dished out without involving anyone I cared about.
I know her parents and brother and I am definitely surprised her mom didn't go with her and try and kick his ass. She's not someone you mess with. Especially if it's her daughter. I don't know why she didn't go, unless Kendy didn't want her to because she knew her mom would go off on him.
Sadly that is really how narrassist see it. They are bound and determined to talk you into doing things their way. It is relentless harassment and so annoying.....
The vast majority of divorces don't lead to this. It's probability vs possibility. It's possible that the husband may "flip out" but it's not probable. Most men just accept the divorce and live with the wife or family until he or she can find somewhere else to live
I gotta say, I love yalls professionalism, but ALSO the fact that you care about the people in these stories. I've always loved the narration, and detail that's put in each vid.

Considering she was almost potentially killed by him a couple of days before, I wouldn’t have been able to step foot on that property again by myself.
Lol!

They were getting a divorce so I'm assuming she considered herself and him to be separated so she was moving and had a boyfriend!! That's not an affair, that's her trying to finalize a divorce and moving on with her life!! For all we know, she was sleeping in the spare bedroom!! Don't victim shame when none of us know what was going on in that house except for domestic violence!!!!
@@MelDamgaard Good Lord, the excessive use of exclamation marks.
@ev25zv , my exclamation marks are there to make a point stand out, just as like others use them, and at least I don't use a ton of capitals as though I'm screaming when making a statement!! Others do this, but you only notice my message!!
You obviously have nothing better to do with your time but pick apart how I choose to write my messages rather than contribute to a productive conversation!!
@@MelDamgaard I know why you're excessively using exclamation marks, but it makes you look like: 1) a hysterical female or 2) an uneducated boomer.
Newsflash: there is never a reason to use more than one exclamation mark after a sentence.
Also, as you can see, when you incorrectly use exclamation marks by overusing them for effect, it actually does the opposite of what you're trying to do and detracts from the point you're trying to make.
Kendy and her parents were smart as hell to use "is Dad sick?" as a sign to show that she needs help. Kudos to her boyfriend for calling the parents, and the parents for keeping her on the line and having her stay calm.
If she was really smart she would have gone back with law enforcement to get her animals, she would NOT have gone back by herself.
On the one hand, I'm glad they had a code, but on the other, please anyone reading this understand: if you are to a point where you can't even speak freely in front of someone, it's long past time to get out.

When she got on the phone with her mom and they used code words was heartbreaking 😢 this should’ve never happened. 😕
I’m not excusing him or what the sicko did, and not victim blaming, but why did she go back? She should’ve listened to her parents and even new bf. Or had her parents go with her or something like that… just lessons ppl can learn from horrible situations
Esp if she was already afraid for her life bc of what he did by looming over her in the middle of the night and in all black with gloves on and she saw a gun mag, meaning she probably saw a gun or he probably had a gun ready or gonna get it ready, and then he’s already abusive, the thing w the neighbor, just everything
It’s absolutely horrible and insane what he did her, and in cause did to his daughters and her family
Tragic events aside....
Using weed killer to draw cuss words in your neighbors lawn that is visibile from space is ..... wow.

To be fair everything is visible from space. To to google earth and type your address in. You can see your car out front, your decorations around the yard, etc

Every person that is in an abusive relationship, PLEASE, have someone you can call with a CATCH PHRASE!! (In case you're unable to REALLY say what's going on, IT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE!) RIP Kendy!😢🙏🏾💔
Also an agreement to call by a certain time, or every so many minutes, is a good idea.
Mine was daddy he hit me again...I ended up calling 911 screaming for them to get there before my dad killed him, my father and I sold the family home moved from Louisiana to Illinois all before he bonded out. I'm alive, my kids are alive, their father is not he hung himself 6 month after we left the state. My mom had passed and while grieving I told my dad about what had been happening, I was still trying to make it work , they had a man to man talk he made my father a promise to never hit me my father made him a promise that he would take him out this world if he broke the promise...I called my dad 5 hours later
How about, every person that is in an abusive relationship, GET OUT!!!!! If you need a catch phrase, it has already gone too far.
or u can leave u pansy

The intro where the officer briefed the others about his past behavior says it all
I bet he practiced that cry in front of the mirror before calling 911.
HAHAHAHA omg, I bet you're right
The cry tells the crime itself and who has done it.
I'm loving this channel.
No long, drawn out explanations of where people were born and their entire life story before ever getting to the crime... just the story.
I appreciate the way you present these stories so thank you!
Yeah, I don't like that wither. Just get to the point.
So she was cheating with the neighbour and also was cheating with someone else?
Asking for a friend.
I believe that he was so jealous it was all in his head. Idk tho 😖
I love how the officer just stood there and watched him fake cry flashing their lights on him as he paced back and forth. 🙃

His crying is worse than Segal's acting.
Nah, nothing’s worse than Segal’s acting:)
His fake crying is absolutely infuriating!! 😡😡 These officer's are extremely patient with this man!! I really want to scream "please stop these bad theatrics it's really going to reflect badly on you"! .
I screamed here at home…shut up!!!!
Just gotta say, I always love how this channel takes a moment before beginning to send sympathies to the families and friends of the victim(s). Such an empathic touch to this dark content.
I most definitely agree with you. Such a wonderful sentiment & done very well!! May she rest peacefully & angelic❤
Yeah it makes it seem a bit less exploitative for sure
I wanted to comment this as well. This empathic consideration makes this channel stand out from the rest of the "true crime" ones. ❤
I also like the scripting and presentation. Some channels are trying to use kind of massive poetic language and phrases that does not belong in a murder story and besides make the story unnecessary much longer. The deserved rewards for the channel are the number of views and subscribers in addition to extremely high activity in the comment section. 😊🎉
Like many others I recommend this channel to everyone who likes the Crime genre! ❤😉

She woke up to him standing over her with black gloves and a gun magazine on the floor. Then she decided to go back to check on her animals. That's someone not thinking clearly. She needed to leave the state!
You fucking get! Or called the cops to go with you to get your animals. Just foolishness
She probably checked on her animals because psychopaths kill animals too.....
She probably thought he wouldn’t really do it. That tends to happen after 20 years of marriage. You come to trust people despite their obvious flaws. I don’t, but most people do.
I would never go back for my animals. Not without police assistance
He sounds like when Ron Burgundy is crying in the phone booth
Snap! I thought of Ron Burgundy too. It’s the voice too.

Why the hell did she go back?! She said she thought he was trying to kill her...
Where was she going to turn?
@@MrSirlulzalot Her parents, a friend, a shelter, a cardboard box? That might sound flippant but why is it worth it to go back?
i understand what you’re saying but unfortunately only people who have been in an abusive/controlling situation like this can understand why they go back. silly as it sounds, they typically feel safer staying in their current situation rather than maybe putting themselves into an even worse situation by leaving the abusive person. it’s fear that keeps them there.
@@Hawk2phreak Absolutely agree, she knew he was unstable he tried to kill her the night before, I would’ve put my life above an animal
Considering she was almost potentially killed by him a couple of days before, I wouldn’t have been able to step foot on that property again by myself. Maybe she thought he was back to work or not anywhere nearby but I would have taken every precaution before getting near where that psycho might have been potentially hiding. Honestly, this could have easily been me a few times in the past & I’m so sorry to Kendy, her step daughter, son and family. Every ex husband has threaten to kill me. I have escaped terrifying situations. The very last time I had to leave a volatile man, the minute he went to work I packed as much as I could, took my kids with me and never returned alone after that for the rest of our things. After all the shit I’ve been put through, I always imagine the worst playing out so I’m prepared to keep distance or defend if necessary. However, you can’t always predict an attack. Some situations can be out of absolutely no where. RIP Kendy 😢❤
I'm struggling to get the video...I just want to thank you for speaking well and presenting South Africa as
beautiful country as we are. You never said anything nasty or that could seem dangerous for tourists like other UA-camrs who speak nasty and show the "bad" parts of Africa i - allegedly - and yes...we are a beautiful continent. We have our crime and political issues, but does does not give anyone especially on huge platform like UA-cam spewing the other side of beauty. Personally, as a South African I commend you for being neutral on all your videos. I shared that video and my friends and family have subscribed.
