Listening to his real final confession made me so angry, and so sad for Heather. It feels like he still had complicated feelings for her which, combined with Emilia's jealousy, drove them do this. I'm just amazed that they thought they'd get away with this! Killers in cases like this are blind to the reality that if you just take a couple steps back and look at the situation, NOONE ELSE would do it! It's basically obvious. The first round of interviews would reveal the custody issue and love triangle, the jealousy. I'm left with so much empathy and sympathy for the families, and especially the children. The audacity of him to weep and wail about his kids becoming wards of the state; HE DID THAT! What did you think was going to happen when you murdered their mom?!?! Just awful. I find it immensely satisfying that neither of them will ever walk free. Very disappointed to hear that later, that brilliant interrogator lost control of his own behavior and became a criminal himself. I wonder what went through HIS mind while he strangled his lover, and whether or not he's still an abusive jerk. Did he learn anything?

For much of our history man and wife didn’t live together until after the wedding. The first year is the hardest because for the first time people had new roles to play within the family as well as learning to live with a new person and the family dynamics they brought with them. Now a days people live together for years before marriage, so the situation is different.

My brother was killed in a car accident a couple of years ago, leaving behind his five year old daughter. She was his sole provider. As soon as we found out, we put our grief aside as a family and did everything in our power to make sure she stayed with us. I found out he was gone over the phone and I immediately hung up and started making phone calls to get her. We ALL wanted her. I hate to judge Heather's family too harshly but how, as a family, could you ever allow those kids to go into state custody after losing both their parents? Perhaps grandma was too old or not healthy enough to raise them but surely there was some family member who could do it. How could you not fight for her kids? I just don't understand it.

Yeah, you end up messed up for life I’m afraid, I’m diagnosed with cPTSD and completely cut my mother and brother from my life near a decade ago, I have some contact with my dad who’s understanding of me never wanting to talk to them again (he has his own family and I never wanna intrude, in case I’m rejected or told I don’t belong).

Also that detective, ive seen him on a couple of other cases and he was fierce as hell, but unfortunately he is a total scum bag too and is no longer a detective or even on the force after he was charged with MULTIPLE charges of DV, false imprisonment and strangulation, so whilst he might have been good at his job he wasn't good at being a decent husband or human being and in my personal opinion is no better than the people he helped put away.

My wife and me must be oddballs because our first year of marriage was fantastic. I am not saying we have never had problems in all the years we've been married. I can honestly say that my wife and me are more in love with each other today than when we first married. We are now on our 22nd year of marriage when our anniversary comes around. I am so thankful to God for my wife as well as our children. God truly has been good to us and still is and always does what is best for us. These cases of murder are so sad. I will never understand someone killing another person over marital disputes when it would be smarter to just divorce if you can not properly reconcile instead of ruining your life forever in this world.

You made your point well, and congratulations for succeeding where I failed, in making your marriage work.

Josh's mum threatened HEather to drop the charges. That mom is something. Kids involved, relationships involved, the act of murder is just way too easy to think on and execute. Josh was just not having it over the kids, or rather he wanted to use the kids to control Heather. It is, or was, all over when he pointed the gun at her, regardless. 11 days after the wedding?? IS that a shotgun wedding??
Emilia is twisted. She encouraged Josh to be rid of Heather, even if it meant murder. The jury must have felt the same, putting her to death and he to life. Such selfish ends, just deplorable. And Emilia is worried about the kids, then don't get involved in the crime.
