FYI: For men, you need to be a minimum of 6ft tall, and females minimum of 5ft 8in tall.
Ha I’m only 5 ft need some 8in high heels
Is the honor guard an option if you are a civilian going for OCS? So if you graduate OCS can you do Honor Guard then go to your first duty station?
Heard that there were some exceptions in the height factor for men. There are those who are 5'10 that are in there
Hey I'm Australian and moved to the US about 4 months ago, I'm here through marriage and am waiting for my Greencard, I am very interested in being a Boatswain mate in the Coast Guard, any advice on immigrants joining the Coastguard? Also is Boatswain mate an ideal job? And with the asvab what score do you need to join the Coastguard? Thanks
@@katiejohnson8899 There's a possibility for an open billet as a junior officer when graduating OCS.. theres an ENS there right now who got it after graduating OCS. It's very limited however.. and we're talking maybe 1 or 2 spots since there's no need to have many JOs there. Most of the openings will be coming from non-rates (E-3s) since they're the platoon. Also note: depending on the solicitation it's typically common to see 4-years as a Petty Officer and 2 years as an Officer. So if theres no opening from when you graduate OCS, solicitations come out every now and then for anyone who's interested in the billet. Officer training is also very different compared to an enlisted personnel since they're part-time working in logistics/policies and then part time training (2-3months).
Hello to all honor guardsman present and before, I was a member of the 74 to 76 Honor Guard. Drill team and platoon, under the Late chief George plager who passed away in 2019. and LT Heinz. One of the best experience of my life, next to making the Olympic wrestling trial team after High School. My experience also, was in boot camp in Cape May. They ask who wants to go home a month early from boot camp, and ask us to do push-ups. I did around 50 or more and was chosen to be in boot camp honor guard. We had our own barracks during the daytime, command by BM1 Marshall. We had what they called the top and the bottom, were the new members set on the floor in one part of the building and polished our brass. While the senior members were in another part of the building. and we practice every day spending our rifles. I was drafted from boot camp to presidential honor guard in Alexandria Virginia. I love the guard! and Could have did it for 20 years or more. Ps. I just left Coast Guard week, this weekend in Grand Haven Michigan a festival every year. Coast Guard City. USA. and the Honor Guard was there. It was Great.
I dont believe you, because what about pilot's?
I was an cg honorguardsman. We trained 8 hours a day sometimes more unless we were doing an actual ceremony
He would have never made it thru hg training when i was there.
