Very helpful! Thank you! There are so many succulent and plant videos on youtube which are done by amateurs which is good in its own way but it's so valuable to hear from someone with so much experience. I hope you keep making videos they are great!

A lot of trial and error. That's what we are experiencing with some varieties here. Thanks :)

Thanks Mick, very helpful video. I would love to give some cross pollinating a go with some of my flowering echeverias. Good luck with keeping your daughter entertained while her arm mends.

Is there a time frame, from when the flower opens to do the pollinating? IE: within first 48 hours? Once the seed pods swell and begin to split, when do we remove off the plant. Do you need to wait until completely dry, before sowing them. IE would you wait a week or two.
Hope your wild child (you go girl) mends asap so she can enjoy running about and having fun again. Regards to Mrs. Succulent and as always happy gardening.

Hi Evelyn, thank you :) She has her cast off now and thinks she is invincible haha. The flowers do stay open for awhile, probably about a week. Once you can start seeing pollen on the stamens, that's the best time to try. I usually try the same flowers for a few days in a row to give myself a higher success rate of pollination. You pretty much wait until the flower that has been pollinate dies. You will just start to notice a tiny split in the pods and this is the perfect time to harvest the flowers to process the seed. After I have harvested the pods and removed the seed, I sow straight away. The fresher the seed the better in my opinion :)
