I've been listening to progressive, blues and acid jazz and I had to admit this is the kind of music that separates from everything. In my opinion the sound is just coming out from the artist's soul and that makes this music so beautiful and melodic.
I agree, a lot of soul here, very emotional, the guitarists seem to be pouring their hearts out and there's something about screaming that makes my heart go crazy! I get that when I hear the "I miss you!" In Slint's "good morning, captain" or Unwound's "valentine".
I believe that melodies are more powerful than lyrics. Of course that doesn't count into genres like rap & etc.. But just my personal opinion in general into rock subgenres.

It is a visual pleasure to see a group of musicians on stage, well dressed with their tube amplifiers and their analog gear. Unfortunately this is seen less and less .... hopefully I'm wrong.

I believe CHON is influenced by TOE as they are new kids in the math/post-rock scene. I listen to CHON too but they song never feels so touchy and deep as TOE.
I kinda like what Rival's saying. I don't agree, but it's the best explanation. I also think that the album version is better, yet you can't always get the same things live.

スティーブ・ライヒ的ミニマル感とポリリズム感がスゲー気持ちいい。途中で「ワン！ツー！」って掛け声入るけど何がどうワンツーなんだかw(そして私は数えるのを止めた) ところでロックの人たちってワンモード系好きだよね。途中で展開したくなる気持ち、よくガマンできるなーって思う。ただ一つ間違いなく言えるのは彼らがとんでもなく頭良いって事だ。
