The Valve Games Iceberg Explained

- Although their future plans are always enigmatic to their community, it's fair to say that Valve has a special place in most gamers' hearts. From the humble beginnings in the first Half-Life to the mega-corporation thanks to Steam and microtransactions, Valve has evolved and revolutionized gaming. In this video, I will be explaining their vast library of games, including those which have fallen into obscurity because it was canceled or forgotten or suffered some other similar fate. This is the Valve Iceberg Explained.
Who or what is Valve? (Wikipedia): Valve Corporation, also known as Valve Software, is an American video game developer, publisher, and digital distribution company headquartered in Bellevue, Washington. It is the developer of the software distribution platform Steam and the Half-Life, Counter-Strike, Portal, Day of Defeat, Team Fortress, Left 4 Dead, and Dota series.
Valve was founded in 1996 by former Microsoft employees Gabe Newell and Mike Harrington. Its debut product, the first-person shooter (FPS) Half-Life (1998), was a critical and commercial success; with its realism, scripted sequences and seamless narrative, it had a lasting influence on the FPS genre. Harrington left in 2000. In 2003, Valve launched Steam, followed by Half-Life 2 in 2004. With advanced physics systems and an increased focus on story and characters, Half-Life 2 received critical acclaim and sold 12 million copies by 2011. In 2006, Valve released Half-Life 2: Episode One, the first in a planned trilogy of episodic sequels. Episode Two followed in 2007, alongside the multiplayer game Team Fortress 2 and the puzzle game Portal. Portal 2 was released in 2011. In 2013, Valve released the multiplayer online battle arena game Dota 2.
Valve released fewer games in 2010s, and experimented with hardware and virtual reality (VR). They entered the hardware market in 2015 with the Steam Machine, a line of gaming computers, which sold poorly, and released the HTC Vive and Valve Index VR headsets. They returned to the Half-Life series in 2020 with Half-Life: Alyx, their flagship VR game. In 2021, Valve announced the Steam Deck portable gaming PC.

The Valve Iceberg: Explained - Ігри
this is basically a poor man's nakeyjakey
Thank you for watching and Happy Halloween! If you enjoy this video, check out my Icebergs playlist for more! ua-cam.com/play/PLgew_SyhVfkwLOgjSe-gxNI6kznClLtHB.html
Yo stop, You had me at that intro
I dig your transparency and your presentation style. Very good boi/10
Vac doesn't Working
It works though
@@AverageSynth Who Knows ? +1
It's amazing how many projects Valve scrapped/cancelled. They probably didn't want to hurt the company's quality
I respect that
Yeah, even though it always takes a long time, with valve I can always guarantee top quality. There worst game is just kind of weird and obscure
i i t
that really doesn't feel like the case. the amount of abandoned projects to me is a sign that valves "work on what you want" system really isnt that good in execution. sure it might be good for employees in the short term but in the long term it leads to nearly *nothing* getting done for *ages*.
like, ignoring artifact and undrlords (like everyone basically does) half-life alyx was valve's first major release in *7 years*. that wouldn't be so bad if a: anything else released in that stretch was actually substantial and b: there werent several great concepts for games just thrown away in that time.
And then they made artifact
Hello - I'm the reddit user that made the iceberg. Just wanna say this is an awesome video, great job on the editing, and thanks for the credit.
Very nice
Very nicw
well made iceberg
Cool
“Hello - I’m the reddit user”-🤓🤓🤓
i really dig that poor man's nakeyjakey style, keep it up, it's insanely entertaining
Kind of a backhanded compliment
@@Poly_0000 i think that’s the joke
@@cIoudbank let’s choose not to start an argument
since nakey seems to be 100% commited in pursue a nonsensical shallow-pop musical career this guy seems to be the best thing we have now.
@@Braulios_Penesecou what he does rap
I usually instantly click out of icebergs where I see people's faces but this was good
ikr hes so cute
Vac doesn't Working
He narrates pretty normal which makes this way better than Wendigoon which i hate because his iceberg narration feeling slow and shit
wendigoon makes great iceberg videos
meh I’d prefer him not to take up the middle of the screen when I’m trying to watch the gameplay. If it was just narration over gameplay, then this video would be perfect.
Damn this iceberg has more than 3 tiers ?
4:50, HL2 DM actually had some of the most fun source mods I've played to date. The multiplayer scene for it, especially early 2010's was insanely cool.
I member
I feel blessed to have been a part of the early HL2 DM, Gmod and TF2 community
i have spent a good portion of my teenage years playing on hl2 dm coop maps
it very influential
i started playing hl2dm an bsdm recently, rare to find a full server, but still one of the harder and faster shooters i ever seen, especialy hl2bm, that sick grav gun tricks i cant even start to understand
My uncle was actually the guy who created Alien Swarm. I personally have only ever played one or two levels with some friends, but growing up it was so cool to brag that my uncle had an official valve game.
Riccochet 2 being a code name for Half Life 3 might actually be real since there are interivews of Gaben actually talking about it in some detail and without a shred of irony
the foldable lawn chair really makes this format. 10/10
dude you are genuinely one of my new favorite youtubers, been watching you for a few months and honestly you have such an amazing style of video and unique personality, it feels very nakeyjakey like and I enjoy it a lot.
IDK why I laughed so hard with your image sitting next to the turrets, at 29:00
the project you talk about at 40:53 actually did happen, although it was a third party mod. its called "thinking with time machine" and its on steam
I really love the video! The fusion of facts, your personality, looks, and fun editing made this a super engaging viewing experience. Couldn't take my eyes off, just an ✨ immaculate ✨ video all around!
Love the fusion of comedic editing with the iceberg format. Keep it up :)
crazy good editing and writing, you keep making videos like this you’ll hit trending in no time man👍
Dude this was so well edited! I didn't know about a lot of these so I'm glad I saw this!
Ahh the time has finally come and the intro makes it so much better
Been watching since the half-life iceberg. Love to see how this channel is progressing.
honestly i love this style of vid and wouldnt mind seeing your channel branch out and make more content like this just on differnt topics
Oh I would kill for fairy rpg from valve. Also, cool editing and video in a nutshell!
This is some really quality stuff, live the humor and general personality you've added to it, more than just a voice and a face in the video, *you* genuinely make the video better! Interesting stuff, really made me realize how much I didn't really know.
Happy your back !!!!! always looking forward your video ** great 👍 job *** very cool how you did this video 👍😀👊🏼☝🏼
Dude is back with another banger

This is incredibly well done. Amazing work. Definitely gonna sub
Loved the video, and your style of talking and editing are awesome. :^)
nakey jakey is quite proud of your editing/narrative style
I have been waiting literal years for someone to make this, I am so happy
just found ur channel and i cant stop watching keep it up!
Really nice video!
I think you should've mentioned Thinking with Time Machine when talking about Project Time. It's a Portal 2 mod (available on Steam) that has similar mechanics.
This ^
Pretty solid video documentary.
Laughed every time the source engine pictures were mixed with minecraft cave sounds.
Ayyy great video dude 👍
I absolutely loved this vid! Also, I cant belive the half life iceberg released almost a year ago.
Awesome video, finally got around to watching it...
you are the first youtuber i want to donate to, like, your videos are actually funny and have good quality
Great iceberg video! The editing must have been a lot of work.
Hi I just subscribe because i like iceberg videos. The more bizarre and macabre the entries are the better!
Amazing video!
Bruh your videos are 🔥🔥🔥
Every sentence you said in this video is relatable! I love this vid!
A well made video. Watched till the end
Damn I love your editing
What coincidence!
I was watching a video of your iceberg practically now
Oh yes , congratulations on the edition , it really evolved a lot
You really need more subs bro, I already subbed, hope you do more vids in this style.
I really love your new style of video with chromakey! Very similar to what BrickyOrchid8 did in his videos explaining the Warhammer races.
nice video! keep up good work
Amazing editing
Great video. You deserve more subs!
I like this channel, I'm definitely gonna stay subbed.
I love your iceburg vids new sub
This is a fantastic video
holy shit this is golden content!!! The way he uses sarcasm makes it way more enjoyable. Jokes are on point everything is perfect.
I would watch any of your videos can’t wait for next video
Idk who nakeyjakey is but the goofy editing is entertaining. I like it!
This gives off NakeyJakey vibes. Keep it up my dude
Kinda digging Asian nakeyjakey with his own twist
Keep up the great work, mate! Earned my sub
Real good video!
4:44 I love how he edits this part. I imagine him going to war while sitting in that chair. It cracks me up.
46 min iceberg video, you know this is gonna be good
Loved the video and gonna sub after I check out more vids, but I just wanted to say that at 6:38 you put raid world war 2. Raid WW2 was released far after dod:s and the like.
I was expecting some boring iceberg video to go to sleep to but I was engaged and stayed up longer then I should of.
HE'S BACK!
such a well put video ! i just had to support a fellow content creator and subscribe and ring the notif bell!
It's been reported in the past that Hostile Takeover was canned cuz the head of the company was an unlikable and deeply hostile person that Gabe Newell personally disliked, so he canned the game. After that, the company began a slow and steady collapse, with some of the devs leaving in 2001 to form a new, somewhat obscure indie studio known as Infinity Ward.
Thank you for this video!
Great video
Very cool video! also very nice lawn chair.
I love that nakey jakey style, you got yourself a new subscriber
26:46 well, boy do I have news for you!
He is back. Better than ever!
Good vid 👍
17:24 Note:
Actually, CS:O and CSNexon is the same game in Asian market with directly called "Counter-Strike Online"
And the name of "Nexon: Zombie" and "Nexon: Studio" are due to the new Gamemode in the game
Former one added zombie modes (maybe also included "Scenarios"), and the later one also has "Studio Mode" which makes players play or even create their own map
Another top tier video, although I'm kinda mad that UA-cam didn't notifie me of new videos (even with the bell on) since the portal iceberg and I had no idea there were new ones since then. Finally UA-cam notified me again
I've never been so entertained by a man in a camping chair. Top tier content.
Quality content right here
Great video! Made me laugh a lot.
Surprised you didn't mention that modders have also made a playable build of Return to Ravenholm. Anyway, nice job. Some folks don't put much effort into iceberg videos.
26:46 This aged like a fine wine
Real
Alright homie, you got my sub.
i watch your iceberg videos while gaming
Wait only 30K subs? This was thoroughly enjoyable; you’re on your way to way bigger things.
Thank you for the video! Genuinely enjoyed it. Finally got the answers about these Nexon games. But could you please place yourself somewhere at the bottom or 8n corner of the screen? You're static and the image behind you is fast so I feel nauseous because of it😅
That portal time loop concept appears in The Talos Principle, which I think brought on one of the developers from Portal 2 at the time.
I love these videos bro, keep up the good work!
!! I usually dont comment on videos but, I rlly like this style ofvideo, my only critique is that it is basically just nakeyjakeys editing style. I think itd be cool if u added a twist on it :0!!
best thing about source 2 csgo: current cheats will not work, also nice vid and presentation style! subbed
Love the beer holder
"Valve may never port csgo to source 2" lol
Feeling some Nakey Jakey. Btw great video.
Love the rouge can of monster that just vibes in there
Project Time is brilliantly used in The Talos Principle (great game for all Portal and puzzle game lovers)
A little disappointed that Gunman Chronicles didn't appear on the iceberg, but still well put together!
