Pillar with Hanging Cage for Tabletop Gaming

- Every quest finds a player battling their way out of a dungeon or torture chamber. Build a set of these foam pillars with a hanging cage for your next tabletop gaming session and increase the immersion for all your players. This style pillar will make you feel as though you are actually the dungeon or torture chamber of a large castle! I even toss in a glowing LED torch! I'm also going to feature the new Monkstone Miniature Kickstarter and show off the awesome detail in these miniatures!

Awesome idea to make a torture chamber. A stretching rack would be a good addition. They always seemed to be used for such practices.

Great build as always. Yes do start the torture chamber, you need to include the " rack over a fire pit " where the victim is fasten to a large rack that is standing straight up and then is lowered backward down over the fire pit, getting closer and closer and ........uggarg!

This is an awesome idea for a build. I would love to see more torture devices. Maybe an iron maiden, or stretch rack. A wall with manacles would be a good one too. A furnace with a blacksmith area would also be cool. Just a few ideas off the top of my head.

I'd totally watch a series especially if you made a few variations of this pillar that incorporate a few different racks, shackles, etc.. You could also make some classic "witchfinder" torture devices like a dunking stool or a press (with unfortunate victims, even).

You always have such great ideas for awesome builds. I could see you doing all sorts of dungeon torture devices - Iron Maiden, Rack, a Saint Andrews Cross, something that looks like a modified saw horse with rings to chain someone onto, an arch (something akin to a patio swing frame, only taller perhaps) to chan someone to or suspend them from so the torturer has access to all sides of the prisoner... Oh there are just so many things that can be done with this series!

Hey John, just want to say I really dig this video! Those extra heads, the ones you didn't use, you could paint them and use them as gory Dungen decoration! Like skulls where the flesh hasn't rotted away yet because they're still fresh! Great job and an awesome build! Two thumbs way up!

I've accumulated a lot of torture chamber themed miniature items over the last 4 + decades...The rack is a must...Pig men as denizens in these chambers is perfect. a favorite in many movies, anyway....great vid and nice build...looking forward to seeing where you take it on the next vid....Jim

I think a Diablo style dungeon/torture chamber would be really cool to see. There are so many great ideas to pull from that type of dungeon. A giant door for the entry or exit of a big baddie (think the butcher from Diablo I), floors with grates on them that can light up to represent fire coming out, actual torture devices, town portal..., staircase to go up and staircase to go down levels, hidden passageways with tapestries or book cases hiding them, A guard room with a table and cards for escapees to tip toe past, skeletons chained to the wall by their wrists, the Soul Sucking Machine torture device used Westley while trapped in the Pit of Despair in The Princess Bride, a bottomless pit... I cannot wait to see what you come up with!

There was a movie back in 1979 called ‘Caligvla’ starring Malcolm McDowell, Helen Mirren, Peter O'Toole and others. There was a scene where Caligvla had his enemies buried up to their necks and a machine with blades powered by slaves ran them over cutting off their heads. A simple scaled down version of this would be cool to model.

i feel that any good dungeon would need a torture chamber! I would like to see the swinging pendulum axe, a dip tank (maybe filled with pirahna, or alligator, or sharks) an iron maiden, or even a chain with iron manacles with a table beside it with a bunch of little torture tools to cut, slice, break bones, or remove teeth etc.

A series of a torture chamber would be rather interesting. I suggest room filling items like The Rack where they stretched you out or an Iron Maiden that could be opened to put miniatures in. Maybe it already holds a skeleton? So many possibilities to put in cause Medieval Europe into Wallachia (Vald the Impaler’s Reign) held many creative an unique methods of torturing people.

Amazing. I would love to see some smaller items like a body stretcher and maybe a cel (room) with some brickerbrack in it. Some hay and chains... Maybe a privy pot... Something to give it a good "inquisition" feel.

Wow! That pillar turned out great! It really does imply the buttressed ceiling of a dank, dark dungeon. It's a great start to a dungeon series.
What I would like to see relates to the modularity you achieve by using magnets in your terrain. You mentioned that the miniatures you received have multiple heads. Could you do a tutorial on adding magnets to miniatures so that you can swap out heads, and perhaps even weapon arms or bases? I think that would be awesome.

You should make a guard area, not sure if you plan on a sleeping quarters for the possible gaurd but more of a sitting area, with a place where they eat, maybe even a warden room type of idea.

I'm always a sucker for a well-rounded theme :) I think it would be cool to see some known classics, like an iron maiden, racks, shackles, and maybe some new ones that are from your own ideas. Great video. Your hanging cage looks like a "gibbets," I believe. The washers are a necessity to keep the column stable on the battle mat. I ordered some weathering powders after watching some of your other content, and I will also dig out my tile grout from my garage and give that a try, too. Fantastic building tips! @@TabletopWitchCRAFT Yep, and the guillotine could also be used in a town square setting as well, so it would have some versatility as a set piece. I've always wanted to make a large stone riser with built-in stairs. Could be used for a public execution or a village marketplace.

Yes, make this a series! I would love to see a modular setup of pens and cages where monsters and prisoners are kept.
You could totally use them to run adventures incorporating rescues, retrieval’s, or assassinations. Or even delving into forgotten or lost dungeons in order to deal with whatever might be lurking or escaping from them!

This is awesome, I will like to see a couple of levels where they show how they train in 1 level, 2 level how they create them and the 3rd one. how they escape thru tunnel sewer mace or part of it.

Do you ever rest? Another awesome build! I can see something like the sewer sections running through the middle of the scene with a sort of torture dunking chair in the water ready to ‘elicit’ a confession from a poor helpless PC (or NPC if the quest requires them to be rescued....), and some of the kick starter figures doing the ‘questioning.’ Looking forward to the next vid!

This was yet another amazing build by you and I believe a great start to a new series. I agree with the most sought after builds of a rack and/or torture table. I would also like to add the idea of one wall in your dungeon having a very large fireplace with chains for prisoners on the walls to the sides of it. Maybe a few of your torture instruments could be heating at the fires edge. Large fires are very intimidating with burning being one of the most common fears. Also, once you have tortured someone to death it's a convenient place to toss the leftover scraps. Whatever you come up with, I'm sure it will be awesome and I look forward to this series. I like that this dungeon torture idea could be a timeless set from fantasy to the grim dark future and as another commenter said, it will make for great rescue missions.
