  • In this video we take the school bus bi-fold doors and convert them to a “house style” single fold door! We find a way to install a locking house door handle that locks with keys!

You can build this same style with basic hand tools! Manual rivet gun, drill (drill bits, screw driver bits) angle grinder. To replace the “c”channel that we welded you could rivet two pieces of aluminum at the edge of the door and fill the open gap/space between them with A 1 inch thick piece of wood. This way you have material to drill/hole-saw through and mount your door knob too. No welding required! You can also buy metal material at local metal/welding shops or if you don’t have any, you can sometimes buy (it’s a little pricier) from Home Depot, Tractor supply, Lowes, Hardware store. Hope this helped!

I’m going to try using storm door parts instead of fabricating !

FYI if you leave the throw exposed like that, a credit card can open that lock. you should put a metal plate in front of the female side (or male side) of the lock on the frame to make it harder for anyone to break in. But great job putting it together. Looks really good.

Good to know! Thank you for the input we didn’t think of that, definitely going to add something to the latch somehow 👍

@@BenekeBuilt Also, at least in the wild west of Portland, I've heard of people jumping on the door handle and then it basically breaks the lock and works. (Which checks out, because they also sell ones that are designed to rotate without moving the latch for more security). Maybe check out some of those wireless RV door latches with option key-pad?

@@adamjones9600 we don’t really get crazy people out here on the east coast in the woods lol we are probably going to replace it with something a little more secure before we take off, thanks for the input👍
