Thanks! I have to say it is one of the features that I really happy the way it came out. (Even if a friend of mine slipped on the stairs and cracked the glass with his knee!). I'm hoping to get some graphics painted on the bus this spring to dress everything up just a bit more!
Thanks! I considered the RV door option, too. If you saw our "Repurpose an old camper" video we pulled a bunch of things out of it. Almost used the door but it was a bit small. A friend of mine gave the the windows and I had the lumber so I thought I'd give it a try. I suppose you can always change the door down the road!
Holding up well! In one place I have a small crack because I didn't predrill the screw hole for the window deep enough. But some clear caulking sealed it up pretty well. And a friend of mine slipped on the stairs and cracked the bottom window with his knee. Alas...some "road scars!" But still loving the door. Thanks for asking!
Looks good. I have a skoolie. I just got done with demo. I'm at in the planning stage now. i might do something similar. Build the frame before the door. Noted. 😃
Thanks! Congrats on finishing up the demo phase...that's dirty work! I found it hard to get real accurate measurements on the door frame because of the curves and angles so getting the jamb in first would have made life easier! Best of luck!
You produce such great videos, thank you so much for that! We need to replace our bifold doors because snow definitely gets in during the winter, and I am not looking forward to the mosquitoes this summer! Yesterday when closing up for the day, the bottom hinge rusted out so the one door is just hanging at the top and we had NO idea what we were going to do. Your video was very thorough and made it look easy to replace (I know each task has it's challenges, but you work through yours so well). We weren't sure if a door jam would work but yours looks amazing and the oak door is so beautiful! I hope ours turns out half as good as yours does!
I think mosquitos are worse than snow! (And even with the lights on non-biting bugs find their way in through those doors! ). Thanks for the support, best of luck on your build, and feel free to ask questions at any time! Ted
It wold be nice to have a brake. And you know, you can never have too many clamps! Thanks! (Did you see the fuel filter video? Shout out to you in that one!)
Man. What a tough project! I remember when we did our door... it was one of those projects that I was glad was done!! Your installation is really awesome, though, and it is nice that you maintained a wooden jamb as well! Love the finish work!
Thanks! I love the look of oil-based finishes, but I don't really like the clean up and dry times. However, I figured I needed as much durability as possible with Maine elements! Looking forward to seeing your next steps but looks like you're pretty busy with family stuff these days!
Did you have to do anything to the hinges to keep them secure (from the pin popping out, or being forced out for someone breaking in) since they are on the exterior of the bus?
They are staying put pretty well. Someone could easily pop then out and break in...but honestly, they could easily open the sliding window by the driver's seat (I've done it after dropping the keys out of a hole in my pocket). So I'm going with the philosophy that if someone really wants to break into the bus, they'll find a way. I just hope they don't take my favorite stone skillet. Everything else is replaceable...
BY FAR THE BEST DOOR INSTALL VIDEO!!! THANK YOU
Thanks so much!
I need you to build mine, lol. Awesome video, I appreciate it because I want to do this on my bus and this helps me to visualize what I need to do.
Getting RV windows is key!
you got skills :). nicely done!!
Thanks so much!
I really love this but wouldn’t it be better to screw the RV windows from the inside?
The gaskets that seal the window are on the outside...that's the way they were designed!
@@River-Channel wow that’s crazy
Love how the wood door looks, nice work!

@@River-Channel nice! Can’t wait to see how that turns out.
that door looks awesome I understand the challenges I did went on my schooly project I used the door out of an old motorhome yours looks much better 👍

Nice job on the door install. How is it holding up? I like the use of the RV slider windows in the door

What an amazing job! That looks beautiful!
Thanks, I'm really happy with the way it came out. Even happier that most of the materials were free!

I liked the hammering bit :) I do think you should have used a few more clamps for securing the plate :O Nice Job Ted
