This is Floors world she just lets us live in it. We mortals are given the gifts every time we hear her. Goddess, Temptress, Vixen, Valkyrie. Siren none of these terms really express her or what she does to me. Floorgasm received.
Tarja could only stand in the shadow of Floor's range. Tarja can outmuscle her in straight up soprano, but I think Floor is better in every other way. She really is a once-in-a-generation talent.
I cry when I hear Floor sing, my wife of 44 years passed away and I can't share this treasure with her. She was a trained soprano, very talented musician who would have truly loved Nightwish. Rebecca you are great, a pleasure to watch. Now goodbye (as I smash that subscribe button.)
@@iolychan811 singing that good for such a long time puts a heavy strain on your voice. It takes incredible training and talent to still be able to sing so well after singing that much
I was in the crowd for this performance. There are only a handful of performances where I just stand unable to move and in complete awe, literal chills. That was the entire set. Floor was absolutely the best person who could fill Anette's and Tarja's shoes whilst adding something of her own. Her vocal range is incredible. Her work in After Forever is also well worth listening too. Also, it was her first tour with the band, she's never played to a crowd anywhere near that big before this. You can tell she's just loving it, I don't think her grin was from nailing it, but just the entire experience.
@@nummulite99 By the time this was recorded, Floor and Troy were already fulltime members, but they had to keep it secret. I heard Floor say in an interview about this performance, that the whole band was in or on a musical high because everything worked out perfect on every level. I love the scene when Floor carries her stuff into a hall in a "caution wet floor" bucket.
11:37 I love how you say "she's extremely gifted", but then immediately follow it up with "she's worked hard, I can imagine". People like to throw around words like "talent" and "gift" when describing someone really skilled, and I never liked the implication that it was something "given" to them by birth or chance - it downplays the ungodly amount of time and passion they invested to get to that point. So massive props just for that :)
@northern_lights I get what both of you are saying but to be honest, she is gifted. Hard word can only get you so far. No matter how much I practice and train, I will never be at that level. Sure I could be good or maybe even great, but only truly special people can honestly be THAT amazing. Gifted does not mean they didn't put in the work. Just saying. Floor is unreal.
@@BucsFanO22 That's another problem I have with the whole concept - that there's a specific plateau set by a specific skilled person that can't be reached. Of course, you'll never be Floor, because only Floor can ever be Floor. But you could have a comparable skill level in your own flavor, perhaps in a totally different skillset than singing. And I'm not saying "believing that you can means that you can", but "believing that you can't means that you can't". Believing the goal is unreachable from the start makes it shitty motivation to even try, which is if nothing else the first step to everything.
I am just quoting here " 82.000 Germans listening to a Dutch lead singer, singing in English with a band from Finland. Wacken music festival, get ready for mud!
well not 82 thousand germans, it is in germany sure, but wacken is the definition of international, i was there from portugal with a bunch of friends, and around our tent there was virtually every nation. from middle east to south americans
@@journeystarr yeah, Wacken is a big international communtity. The thing that impressed me the most though was this girl with a flag of Ecuador in another video... wow. Makes me think of ua-cam.com/video/9cQlVww0zKo/v-deo.html
It is worth remembering that this was just over and hour into their set. That's an hour of singing a lot of hard songs then she still sounds like this. She has so much control over her voice it is astounding
@@jovetj 20 years ago I performed before 1000 people. Getting applause and cheering is just so magical, I feel and remember it after all those years. Now here were 82 000 people, and they not only applauded. This must be mind blown.
Ah, Floor Jansen. Probably the best female singer certainly in symphonic metal if not all of Rock. She is spectacular, Nightwish is lucky to have her. I was so excited to see you react to her, that last note is magic, it's always fun to watch people hear it for the first time.
@@jindewolf7784 Yea, The Wacken performance as a whole is more technically sound, but the BA version has more feels to it, the audience also helps, and that last belt, while maybe not technically as fitting, sure has the bigger impact for me as well. Still love the Wacken one as well though.
@@TerranigmaQuintet Especially since she had been singing with the band for less than three months at the Buenos Aires concert. The audience didn't know what was coming (but the band certainly did.)
This channel is cool because it's like taking a friend to cinema to see a film you love and watching them the whole time to see if they love it as much.
I'm not really into reaction videos, but when it's a reaction from someone who knows what they're talking about, that's a little different. In this case, Rebecca points out some of the finer points of Floor's performance, details that a non-singer like me wouldn't notice. Good job!
@@pumpjackmcgee4267 Lots of wonderful music and singers over those years. What I like about Nightwish is the fusion of classical and rock which produces a complex composition that still manages to capture your heart. They're very versatile in their sound. Holopainen is a genius.
I am convinced that Floor is the most rounded singer in existence. She can do EVERYTHING flawlessly and knows her voice so incredibly well to put intriguing twists on every note that I couldn't even imagine. She must have perfected her practice methods because the work she must put in is unimaginable. RVA, you are our dose of class and vocal beauty of the day
@@mdmjoe recommending a Tarja performance on a Floor video is just utterly disrespectful towards Floors amazing performance. and BTW. This is a vocal coach she would say that Tarja is good but nowhere near Floor in skills. And that will hurt your Tarja Fanboi feelings.
@@rva oh my God!!!! I love this channel. I am a big metal guy, and hearing someone appreciate the music with an objective opinion is so refreshing. Your reactions are so genuine! I love this!!!
Floor Jansen first became known as a member of symphonic metal band After Forever, standing as their lead vocalist from 1997, when she joined at age 16, to their disbanding in 2009. When After Forever disbanded, she formed ReVamp and has released two albums with them. In 2012 following the departure of their lead vocalist Anette Olzon, Nightwish brought in Jansen as a touring member until the end of their Imaginaerum World Tour. In 2013, they announced Jansen was now their full-time lead vocalist; she subsequently disbanded ReVamp to focus on Nightwish Floor Jansen can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. She is a soprano. She started studying music at the Dutch Rock Academy in 1999, entering the Conservatorium Tilburg three years later. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. (straight from wiki) As a dutchman I am very proud of her success.
"Rock Academy"? That explains why so many great vocalists come from the Netherlands. 🤘😁🤘 I heard Ayreon 0110110 (something like that), everyone was amazing on that. But Anneke van Giersbergen is still my favourite. :)
@@skylight_gameuse Floor is also a vocal coach. She gives lessons to her students even while she's on tour, I believe. Their bassist, Marco Hietala, is also a singer, and has a really interesting timbre to his voice. You might listen to Nightwish's cover of Phantom of the Opera with Tarja and Marco.
@@davidhanksguitarist9388 Agreed! I have the DVD that this is from, watch (listen to) the full show almost daily while at work, and have probably seen every "reacts to" video of this song specifically. I love seeing the look on people's faces when they aren't familiar with Floor and hear that note at the end.
99% of the time I'll tell you I don't believe in the supernatural. I've seen Nightwish live with Floor twice now and that 1% is entirely my belief that she's either A.) An angel or B.) A legitimae D&D bard using music to magically enthrall the audience.
So fortunate I just stumbled into this! Nightwish was one of my favorite bands growing up as a teen and my parents thought I was a Satan worshiper and needed an exorcism 😂 I haven't heard NW in a very, very long time and now at 30 I think I got even more goosebumps. Still remember half the lyrics. Excellence never gets old. Such a time travel, How amazing! I would recommend checking their version of "Phantom of the Opera" as well :) Cheers! 💜
Floor Jansen is one of the most overlooked singers in metal right now. Thank you for covering her singing Style. She is a true Powerhouse. I would love to hear you cover a Nightwish song.
Yes, she kinda is. But, last year a lot of reaction channels here on youtube started their reactions on her and on NW and a lot oh their folowers started to listening her. Also Nightwish are doing bigger stages and more festivals with her then ever before. So the word is spreading. In past a lot of people on festivals were leaving with Anette, now they are staying. And a lot of her side projects definitely helps too. Her past in After Forever or ReVamp made her quite famous, but not to masses, a lot of people know her from Ayreon. And she did surprised all of us with Northward. She went to waters to her unknown and se sing it masterfully as usual.
How is she overlooked? She is one of the most well known metal singers. It makes no sense to say she's "overlooked". Maybe in the general public, but not in metal.
@@juyifan7933 exactly, people think something is underrated just 'cause they don't hear it in mainstream radio and stuff next thing you know you have people saying Iron Maiden is such an underrated band
I’ve noticed in the booklet of photos that was being sold that all of the band members looked so happy. They all look like they’ve been having fun while touring with Floor.
@Bored philosopher ... I know what you mean. Perhaps the phrase you are searching for is that Nightwish + Tarja had a certain chemistry between them that produces MAGIC on the stage. Separate the chemistry, and each reagent is still great on its own, but the special magic is gone. Both suffered for having lost that magic. Not to say anything bad about Annette as many fans do (she is a very talented singer and two of Nightwish's best albums were those with Annette), but the stage magic was gone as they just did not share that unique chemistry. When Floor came on board, something clicked. She and NW have their own unique chemistry, different from Tarja's but magical nonetheless. I had the honor of meeting Floor last April. In my total available five seconds that I was able to shake hands, I said simply, "Thank you so much for bringing BACK the magic!" Nothing more, nothing less. I'm sure she knew what I meant, and it was pretty clear that she really appreciated that particular type of fan feedback.
You should listen to more with Floor but also their first singer Tarja. Maybe even do all three singers they've had, back to back to back, in one video and give opinions on them all. They've had some amazing singers - all three. Nightwish is amazing in general. Their lyrics and instruments. The group knows what they're doing.
Schnee von Gestern sadly true. My dad introduced me to dark passion play and we went to the concert. Amazing and beautiful. I fell in love. However i can appreciate the differences in all and they are all amazing in theirown ways.

Thanks for sharing your impressions, lovely as always - you talk about others energy, but yours flows so well, very entertaining to watch. Cheers!
I'm not fan of watching whoever reacts to any given videos. This just popped and I took a look around. Nightwish is one of my favorite bands, and that particular song I consider one of the most beautiful pieces ever written in symphonic metal. After I saw your video, then I felt curious to check how do others would react to this video, in particular vocal coaches. I had to come back to express how professional you conducted this analysis, regardless how much this performance impressed you. The technical highlights are on point, you break it down perfectly. If I ever were to take singing classes, I think you'd be the only one to make a singer out of me, and I consider myself a lost case. I have no musical background knowledge by any means, I don't play any instrument, but from the very first moment I listened to this song, I went crazy, frustrated, engaged and in love with it. You're a true professional, I enjoyed how you reacted every minute.
@@jamesdale8199 as a German I have to disagree. Whole Germany goes wet over Max Giesinger, Johannes Oerding, Helene Fischer, Robin Schulz, Nico Santoz and stuff like that. 0,2% of fucks are given about Nightwish. Only the Folk/Goth people know who they are. I remember once on Pro7 and on DMAX there was a commercial for their album but that was long ago.
AFCA - World Bodybuilding Archive that is sad to hear :( maybe because Scandinavia countries I hear about them a lot more as it’s closer to their origin. Nightwish are s fantastic band
One of the best live singing performances I've ever seen. God Nightwish nailed it this night at Wacken, I saw them live way back when Tarja was still their singer and just for the record I love all 3 Nightwish vocalists, Tarja, Anette and Floor. Tarja had the straight powerful pure Opera Voice, Anette had a very bright and light Angelic voice and Floor I'm convinced pretty much can sing any style you throw at her. To have a vocal coach react to this is extra special because it's a professional analysis of the singing, the style the technique and the little things that casual observers might not understand. There's a reason why vocals are considered an instrument of their own because when used like this, it takes the whole song to a level above and beyond heights that the other Instruments just can't do, in my opinion anyway. I've been too countless concerts in my life an only 2 bands had that level of magic and majestic splendor that made the experience unforgettable. Nightwish and Blind Guardian.
I was waiting for the exact moment at the end where she does that insane build and see your reaction. This song at the end hearing her voice always makes me cry.
I know what ya mean, she is feminine with her moves and yet she could kick your ass boots or no boots alone and with her vocals enough said where's my cry towel that build is unforgettable. Floor J beyond amazing
Floor Jansen puts them in another league!Im an old guy {68] just found this band ,i will be fore ever a fan.Their music is absolutly eloquent!.I thought rock was gone forever but there is hope!
I am 65 and I discovered them about 4 years ago. They have a new album coming out in May of next year and then starting their tour in June in South America!
Wow welcome to nightwish world... I'm 30 but I follow them since I was 15 thanks Amy lee Evanescence introduce me this magical world. Music get United!!
Sucks you in, makes you feel every word deep in your soul, your brain, and hits your heart like a knife. I find myself moving to this, albeit small motions, damaged nerves struggling to accept the whole, wishing I could be somewhere else. But moved to tears by that voice. I'm 59 years old. I've listened to music my whole life. Now it's an escape, fading in my ears that have lost range, turning it up ever louder, struggling to avoid the inevitable silence.
Saw them live 2 weeks ago, this was their last song, and it was so beautiful with a rain of red paper, the screen in the background and this goddess singing her heart (and lungs) out!
Thank you for watching this and reacting, I've been waiting for this!!! This song and Floor's performance here at Wacken makes me cry every time, especially after you've been through a full hour of the concert. Just remember that this is after over an hour of perfect pitch and amazing passion and power and energy. Sometime you really must watch the whole concert, it will really bless you and blow your mind. :D
Every once in awhile I'll remember this video and I'm pretty sure you are the one who kick-started the massive tidal wave that has become reacting to Nightwish, Ghost Love Score specifically. Thinking on the recent album release and how Nightwish IMMEDIATELY had lyric videos up as soon as it went live and Floor acknowledging that she's been following the react community has led me to believe this amazing UA-cam trend has changed the scope of how Nightwish presents itself as an entity on the internet
The fact that it’s presented at all is amazing. Most metal doesn’t even get a blip on the yt radar. I don’t even like metal and I’ve been listening to her, with all her band variations, non stop next to wardruna. She has pushed ALL the female metal leads, not just herself, to the forefront, and rightfully so. Many of them are extremely talented, maybe in different ways like growling, but no less talented.
When you said "she knows she nailed it", what makes that even more impressive is that this was recorded not long after she'd taken over for the bands previous singer, mid tour no less. So she's singing material she only had a very limited time to practice. Material that wasn't written for her vocal range and style, either.
Was like 7-8 months after she was flown in. The Buenos Aires performance was more of an achievement in that aspect, as it was after less than 2 months.
Awesome job breaking down Floor's vocals. Makes me have a whole new appreciation for her talent. Loved your descriptions of her stage presence. "Goddess . . . commands . . . fearless." I've seen Nightwish with Floor three times, and I can say you are 100% right about that.
Nightwish has had three different singers with three distinct styles that all work in their own way. I think this singer is arguably the one with the best vocal range. They’ve also done a cover of Phantom of the Opera if you get curious
I will NEVER get tired of watching these reactions of people experiencing her for the first time lol and I’ve yet to see a single person NOT lose their mind withmultiple floorgasms!!! Lol 😂😂 Yea that will It NEVER get old..
@bladestormviking Metal is so much more diverse than people give it credit for. There IS screaming, yelling, death metal, black metal; but there is also the opposite: Power metal, prog metal, opera metal, Folkmetal, and everything in between, metal genres that most people don’t even know exist.
If I was in this crowd at the time, I'd have no shame in bawling - heck, first time I heard this, I was weeping like a child after their grandparent had died. Just a beautiful but wounding moment, it's a shame I'll never be able to teach my own family about this beauty of art
I watched the Wacken video like.. well a lot of times.. something i first notice now is how happy the rest of the band becomes when she nailes the last note. There is a lot of energy prior.. then it turns to happyness
I don't care what people say or try to claim me as a fan but I haven't seen a singer in any genre that has the all around talent she has. From power to range to versatility. And some of the love performances she has given. She is factually among a very rare elite whether people want to believe it or not. It's objectively indisputable
I love seeing people who aren't too familiar with Floor Jansen's voice react to just how insanely talented she is. There are some AMAZING singers out there, especially in the symphonic metal genre, but I hesitate to say that any of them are better or even as good as Floor.
Good Comment. I've seen and heard tons of women sing great vocals but as of today and right now and my opinion that strikes this minute....Floor just kicks ass and takes the cake and she's the best in my opinion. Sure there are tons of great singers but this is my comment and I say Floor is the best. A+++ What you see is what you get and she delivers. Awesome Pawsome!
@@Aijaleena I was thinking the same thing. Floor is amazing, she gives Nightwish a shot at still making music someone wants to hear. Annette made me want to claw my eyes out of their sockets when she sang traditional Nightwish songs. Floor can actually perform as a Nightwish singer, still Tarja DEFINED operatic female vocals in a metal setting and created space for Floor to have a career. Sorry to the Floor fans, but I'm still in love with Tarja singing "She is my sin" or "Everdream."
I can't listen to this version of this song without tears in my eyes. I love Tarja, I love Anette, I ADORE Floor Jansen. She is, in my humble opinion, the best vocalist of the three Nightwish has had, and I cannot WAIT for the follow-up to "Endless Forms Most Beautiful"! Floor's power as a singer and performer is undeniable. She'll be one of those artists looked upon as one of the best of the best in years to come, as will the whole of Nightwish! ALSO, Rebecca, I love your videos! Your admiration for the singers you critique is so genuine, and your excitement is infectious. I find myself getting chills and being moved right alongside you, even though I've listened to this song hundreds of times. I virtually never comment on UA-cam videos, but you and Floor inspired me to throw in my two cents. Keep being awesome!
Probably a more telling sign of her health rather than her singing. She probably does a lot of cardio and breath exercises. After an hour of singing I always find my voice gets a bit cloudy and hoarse, but hers sounds clear as glass in this.
@@ThallanarRabidtooth is definitely both. It's exercising and cardio.. Probably some workouts/weights. Breath exercises. Her vocal and classical training. And also just type of voice she was born with aids in.
This video popped up in my recommended, and I'm so glad it did! I love seeing you reacting to this. I can tell you, she is this brilliant in all of her concerts. I've never seen a live performance where the lead singer sounded better than the studio album, but she does.
Yes! I’m so happy you did this! She is such an amazing vocalist. For another song with her and Nightwish’s male vocalist too check out Nightwish- Ever Dream live at Wacken.
I love Floor. She is one of the most versatile vocalists ever, and my favorite European female vocalist, period. If you like her, I would like to get your opinion on another Dutch vocalist, Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation. Where Floor is highly trained, Sharon is self-taught and considered the "voice of the Netherlands". I would love to see a review. Too many songs to pick just one.
Nightwish should be the standard of all live performances. Theatrical, engaging, emotive, powerful. Pure epicness. I'd love to see some of these pop singers in the charts now get through a 2 hour setlist yet still have great vocals, not have aid and a band performing music live. For all of what Nightwish does, they are criminally underrated by the industry. You don't necessarily have to like their genre, their lyrics, their songs, their style... But credit is where credit is due.
I love how emotive you get with these Nightwish reactions, happens to me as well. There just seems to be something about their songs that provokes emotional response
I love Tarja as much as the next guy, but I think in this particular live performance, Floor just swiped the floor completely (pun intended!). The diversity in her voice gave this song so much more color!
Aye what separates Tarja and Floor is that Floor really nails the diversity in her voice, both have awesome voice but i think Floor pulls slightly ahead. Now what i really would like to see is small cameo with Saara Aalto, while she is mainly pop singer i think she could nail these opera like segments with Floor.
I think one of the major reasons Tarja is so loved is that she was the original, many of the songs were written with her voice in mind and thus having another singer makes the sound odd to an extent. But that pales in comparrison to the feeling people get of "but that isn't Tarja, it doesn't sound the same." which creates a disconnect and a bad impression of the artist without realising. Like me. I heard this, the initial brain response was "meh, Tarja is better", which is a natural response, since this is the first time i hear this song not performed by Tarja. But looking past that (having a literal song coach pointing it out helps) i noticed her skill and passion for this. To claim Floor is bad is ludicracy, but i fully understand many (not all) who miss Tarja. Nostalgia and "correctness" are powerful feelings. Then there are those who hate on Annette and Floor, and that's not cool. Poor Annette though, her style was not suited to the old nightwish songs. But when i heard bye bye beautiful i thought it was great, really liked her singing. Which just proves that she isn't bad, but sudden change and nostalgia got the better of lots of people. And she got a lot of flak. Hopefully it seems the flak has subsided now. I for one is probably gonna keep enjoying my nightwish the way i first heard each song. Tarja for the old songs, Annette for bye bye and Floor for endless forms and the new stuff. Anyway, i rambled a bit.
I also think Floor is better, it's rare indeed for bands to get a better singer than the original, especially when the singer was as good as Tarja. In fact I cannot think of a single one
I kind of stopped listening to the new Nightwish material after Tarja was no longer in the band. But when I found out that this new singer (Floor) was in it my heart started beating again. I got to see her performance for the first time in the Wacken 2013 video, so it became my favourite show inmediately. I am the worst singer ever, and I mean it, I can't even sing the happy birthday song it but I can appreciate a good performance and Tarja and Floor just make my heart accelerate. You won't believe it but every single day that I go to work and get there listening to Nightwish pretty loud in my car, that makes me start the day in my best mood and with a smile in my face. Thanks Tarja and thanks Floor and thank you Rebecca for making this wonderful video.
This is EPIC!!! Aaahhhhhh, it's... like... I have no words for it! I love her *-* I love the contrast between the hard guitar and drum sounds and the operatic vocals, it's everything 😍 It really helps with inner pain, feels like letting it all out Also, why am I watching this at 11:40pm... I'm supposed to sleep, lol. Whatever, it's Rebecca 😂❤
To say one thing about Nightwish., that is often as I see it not appreciated enough. The songwriting, Tuomas Holopainens skill in songwriting. The lyrics, the whole construct of the song. His work is beautiful to say at least and he actually has the band with the singers (yes, all of them) to also deliver it. Of all songwriters I can think of, he's an actual favorite of mine.
I think that Tuomas probably rates in the top 0.01% of songwriters alive today. Quite under-appreciated. His work is always majestic and at times borders on the magical.
Holy goodness, I have been begging vocal coach channels to react to this live performance, BLESS YOU FOR DOING SO! And my, what energy you gave to it. Truly appreciated. I'm so glad you loved Floor's voice! Ultimately the whole band is phenomenal, but that certainly has very much to do with the obvious fact that every member in the band plays a part, and my! do they play it quite well. :) Floor wields her voice and her body on stage like an instrument, which makes their shows all the more captivating to watch. Her tone compliments the dynamic change within the song, and gosh, she's just magical isn't she? Absolutely adore this metal goddess. Talented beyond words. Anyway. Fan girl tendencies of mine aside, thank you for your insight as well as your demonstrations/impersonations! You're delightful. I hope you listen to more Nightwish, whether that's on or off the camera. :) Merry Christmas to you and yours, may you have a lovely one! Cheers! x P.S - I humbly urge you to check out "The Poet and the Pendulum" live at Wembley as well as "The Greatest Show on Earth" live in Tampere, both of these Nightwish songs are INCREDIBLE live and they showcase even more of Floor's impeccable vocal skills! Much like Ghost Love Score, they are on the longer side, with Poet being around 15 minutes, and Greatest Show coming in at around 24 minutes. (And like many others have stated, these songs often tend to be a ways down on the set list, which just adds to Floor's credit even more!)
Floor's an exceptional vocalist. She really was the natural fit for Nightwish to my mind, given their history with an operatically-inclined singer, and very much a more conventional rock/pop style singer. She can cover the range of material, and I'd argue in most cases to the same level or better. She's also a skilled harsh vocalist-you should hear her growls. She rarely does them with Nightwish however-the only example I can think of off the top of my head (probably forgetting some obvious stuff) is the song Ghost River, where she has a couple of growls under the Marco's (the bassist/male singer) parts. Marco's a great singer himself IMO (although definitely with more of a fixed style).
Yes, awesome, totally right! AND, yes, Marco is great on his own! There's a UA-cam video about his vocal maturity from the time he was seventeen through I think 2012? It's a long video but does a thorough job of displaying his change over time.
She can growl too. Just does not really do it much with Nightwish. It is with past bands she would do it more. Glad to see you cover this one Rebecca. The fans of Nightwish will love it. I have the band as my daily react band right now and the fans are die hard. Including me now too. :)
You cried the same time I did! Love singing so much so when you hear a performer give it his or her all, it's hard to hold back emotion. She's incredible.
Two things: First: Yes, she is singer goddess. Second: No, she didn't demonstrate every single area of her voice. Not nearly. (I know, hard to belive). There is in this song (by my opinion) about 30% of her capability. She did no more and no less then what she felt suited to this song. For more aspects of her voice, if you will be willing to react, try Poet and the Pendulum (Live from Wembley) and after that Yours is an empty hope (live from Nightwish Cruise on Baltic Princess). And no, you still won't know every single area of her voice, but you will get the idea. You will bee much closer to it. :)
Fedorevsky Exactly.no song from this show was. But to be honest, I think, that Tuomas never wrote song for exact singers voices he had in the band. He just wrote and every singer did their best.
@@zdenekdolezal9646 (incoming wall of text, sorry; clear your schedule to read all the way through, but I really didn't mean to write a dissertation) Really? I had thought that Tuomas actually wrote for Tarja's voice to begin with, which is how Nightwish began in the first place. I could easily be wrong, of course. My theory is that people disliked Annette so much as a replacement because she had a COMPLETELY different voice than Tarja and could never sing anything like the original queen did. There's just such a HUGE difference between Operatic vocals and Pop vocals. But Floor can do it all (except, obviously, for sounding EXACTLY like Tarja; NOBODY can do that but Tarja, she's completely unique and I ADORE her). Tuomas had to start writing for a different voice for Annette, which changed the entire sound of Nightwish. That further complicates matters as far as who the favorite singer is among a now divided fanbase. And these days, since Floor can do it all, Tuomas can almost bring it back to the original sound for the band. They are still AMAZING and they have rolled with the punches as well as could be expected by any standard. OBVIOUSLY, it's 'just not the same', but neither is the rest of the band these days.
James Curfman As I said, i think he didn't. It may not be true, but it seems to me like that. He probably did first three albums for her. But on Century Child and Once those songs live definitely did not suited her as good as from previous albums. And Dark Passion Play I belive he had a lot of songs done before they choosed Anette. He probably went little closer to her voice capabilities on Imaginerum. With Floor's EFMB album she said, she tried a lot of voice versions in those songs and they decided how it sounded them best. And last thing: Neither Tarja nor Anette rehelsals all way with band before they went to studio. They just tried them once in the end of their sessions (last week or two) .Floor is first one that rehelsals those songh from day one. But he definitely didn't on purpose wrote anything that he knew, they woulndn't be able to sing. Sadly Anette live was in the end terrible in almost all of songs. In the begining, whe she get that hate, she actualy wasn't bad at all. Tarja was excelen on her first years too, lately she get wort too. Floor nowadays is capeble to do almost anything. And if she is not, she changes it to suited her better. Let's hope it will last.
Funny thing is that Floor wasn't been singing with a band in 2 years cos she had burnout, then Nightwish called her that are you up for it... she said yes and she had 2 days time to learn the set she was gonna sing. Floor said afterwards that if she would had more time to think.. most likely she would have been way more nervous than she was... true story, amazing singer. That hole Wacken 2013 NW set is amazing.
Thats not true at all. You are mixing up stories here, Floor never had a burnout, she was performing regularly with ReVamp when she joined nightwish. Her bandmate Sander Gommans in After Forever had a burnout that ultimately led to the disbanding of the band.
@@juyifan7933 there is an interview with Floor where she tells about not being able to do anything during her burn out and that she was a good and in recovery when the guys of nightwish called. She stated that they shouldn't have been a month earlier because she wasn't able to do this yet. Both Sander and Floor burned out at some point after quitting their band After Forever.
@@mykindamakeup To me it sounds more like she was taking a vacation than having a "burn out", considering she was not only performing in ReVamp but in several side projects in the period between the After Forever disbanding and joining nightwish. Maybe she kept working even being burned out, but most likely is that she just using hyperbolic language in that interview.
@@juyifan7933 ok, so you base your statement on assumptions… Check out the ReVamp UA-cam channel. She even recorded a message about being burned out and not recovering fast enough so they had to cancel tours and shows.
I mean this just happens to be one of the best songs out there and Floor does it amazingly. Obviously it was written for Tarja, which you can tell when you hear the original, but Floor does it so well, it’s still gorgeous. This was the first song I truly fell in love with when I listened to Once. The way it weaves and changes and flows is so wonderful, it’s so many songs in one.
More NIghtwish! More Nightwish! More Nightwish! There's no other song where hse really gets to do the whole range, but she displays the different parts very well individually in songs like "I wish I had an angel", "Sleeping sun" and Shudder before the beautiful."
The pose she strikes at 11:55 looks like she is commanding every modern, candy coated, auto-tuned pop diva to bow before their Viking Warrior Poet Queen!
I had the pleasure of seeing them live in Toronto back in 2015 and they played this close to the end of the show and I remember my girlfriend at the time and I both got goosebumps as soon as it began. Floor’s voice is one of my favourite voices of all time.
OH MY GOD I AM SO HAPPY HOLY SHIT!! Thank you Rebecca!!! I’ve been waiting for this for so long. I’ve been a huge fan of them for a while now, I went to see them at Wembley last night, too.
Bryn Price I think this goes down as one of THE greatest sets performed by a band. Just majestic... I am so jealous of you... I wish I was there!

@@nummulite99 By the time this was recorded, Floor and Troy were already fulltime members, but they had to keep it secret.
I heard Floor say in an interview about this performance, that the whole band was in or on a musical high because everything
worked out perfect on every level.
I love the scene when Floor carries her stuff into a hall in a "caution wet floor" bucket.
Among Floor fans there is a saying: "Other singers sing what they can, Floor sings what she wants"
Count me in sir
+1
She's not singing she's soaring...
Floor sings right into your soul. We can tell who the soulless ones are.
Floor takes possession of those words and makes them her own.

Floor Jansen first became known as a member of symphonic metal band
After Forever, standing as their lead vocalist from 1997, when she
joined at age 16, to their disbanding in 2009. When After Forever
disbanded, she formed ReVamp and has released two albums with them. In
2012 following the departure of their lead vocalist Anette Olzon,
Nightwish brought in Jansen as a touring member until the end of their
Imaginaerum World Tour. In 2013, they announced Jansen was now their
full-time lead vocalist; she subsequently disbanded ReVamp to focus on
Nightwish
Floor Jansen can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like
screaming and death growls. She is a soprano.
She started studying music at the Dutch Rock Academy in 1999, entering
the Conservatorium Tilburg three years later. She studied musical
theatre and a year of opera. (straight from wiki)

@Bored philosopher Go enjoy Tarja without Nightwish dude

The fact that it’s presented at all is amazing. Most metal doesn’t even get a blip on the yt radar.

Lol 😂😂
Yea that will It NEVER get old..
What Nightwish is doing is called real music. Its one of my favorite bands, no matter who is singing it, music and orchestra are just epic
Yeessss, finally! The mindblowing fact is the she was singing for an hour before this song! I knew you're gonna love her! She's special!
watching these big tattooed metalheads in the crowd bawling their eyes out when floor sings is the best.
@bladestormviking Metal is so much more diverse than people give it credit for. There IS screaming, yelling, death metal, black metal; but there is also the opposite: Power metal, prog metal, opera metal, Folkmetal, and everything in between, metal genres that most people don’t even know exist.
@@blackassasin175 oh im quite aware.
If I was in this crowd at the time, I'd have no shame in bawling - heck, first time I heard this, I was weeping like a child after their grandparent had died. Just a beautiful but wounding moment, it's a shame I'll never be able to teach my own family about this beauty of art
@@blackassasin175 Yeah and there is apparently something called vegancore😄.I mean who would have guessed😂.
Mr. Korzack wow. You paint a powerful picture
I watched the Wacken video like.. well a lot of times.. something i first notice now is how happy the rest of the band becomes when she nailes the last note. There is a lot of energy prior.. then it turns to happyness
Floor is legit the best singer in her genre, fight me.
I don't care what people say or try to claim me as a fan but I haven't seen a singer in any genre that has the all around talent she has. From power to range to versatility. And some of the love performances she has given. She is factually among a very rare elite whether people want to believe it or not. It's objectively indisputable
No. I agree.
Dont forget Sharon of Within Temptation though. She delivered beyond awesome today in Hamburg ♥.♥

I agree! Would be cool.
I would be really curious too... For the little I heard, it sounds pretty pretty nice ;)
You have to watch comment and explain what she does in romanticide. I mean i seriously doubt she is a mere human like the rest of us.
I really hope you will do Romanticide (Live Wacken). Just subbed for that! :D
12:43 is when she blows each and everyone out of the water - by a fckn lightyear.
Stunning !!
Tarja is calling from the past...
I love Floor. She can sing so good. And i think she and Sharon den adel are the top of symphonic metal. Both out of my country \../😇
This was 70 minutes into the concert too. Of belting and headbanging
And she nails it every single time !
Wow, her voice must be the consumate professional.
Probably a more telling sign of her health rather than her singing. She probably does a lot of cardio and breath exercises. After an hour of singing I always find my voice gets a bit cloudy and hoarse, but hers sounds clear as glass in this.
@@ThallanarRabidtooth Notice how they have a moment to walk off-stage in this song. I think they have that on purpose. :-)
@@ThallanarRabidtooth is definitely both. It's exercising and cardio.. Probably some workouts/weights. Breath exercises. Her vocal and classical training. And also just type of voice she was born with aids in.
I still get goosebumps EVERY TIME I hear Floor sing... it’s even better live ❤️
This video popped up in my recommended, and I'm so glad it did! I love seeing you reacting to this. I can tell you, she is this brilliant in all of her concerts. I've never seen a live performance where the lead singer sounded better than the studio album, but she does.
That ending is known as the Floorgasm... hope you enjoyed it!
Her voice always gives me tears in my eyes, such beautiful voice
Me too
4:48 Her impression is really good. Rebecca can sing for sure
She is extremely gifted as well!!!🥰
Yes! I’m so happy you did this! She is such an amazing vocalist. For another song with her and Nightwish’s male vocalist too check out Nightwish- Ever Dream live at Wacken.
It`s nice to see another Floorgasm victim 😄 greetings from Finland !😊
Hellooo!!
Hi Ya !! Nightwish vids from Wembley London on my UA-cam channel :)
Nightwish ROCKS !! \m/
F̶L̶O̶O̶R̶ ROFL Roll On FLOOR laughing Floor is a joke!!
Sharon is equally exquisite!
She gonna loveee Sharon Den Adel more...long live Within Temptation!!🖤
11:50 Here Floor decides to become the closest to god that any human being ever has been. Jesus fucking christ I love her
Nightwish should be the standard of all live performances.
All more coworker I work with listen to rap. All of them hate it to some extent. It even gives one of them a headache. Saddening I kmow
I love how emotive you get with these Nightwish reactions, happens to me as well. There just seems to be something about their songs that provokes emotional response
Also how you're always surprised by the heavier parts :D
DO REACTION TO NIGHTWISH "ROMANTICIDE" LIVE FROM WACKEN YOU WILL LOVE IT AND "YOUR IS AN EMPTY HOPE" ALSO LIVE
What I like about this reaction is that we can catch glimpses of Rebecca's power.
"Monolith of Doubt" sung by Floor Jansen in her band After Forever when she was younger will shock the socks of of you. Versitile Vocals.
Now what i really would like to see is small cameo with Saara Aalto, while she is mainly pop singer i think she could nail these opera like segments with Floor.
agree loved them both , but Floor def hit the gold in this
I think one of the major reasons Tarja is so loved is that she was the original, many of the songs were written with her voice in mind and thus having another singer makes the sound odd to an extent.
In fact I cannot think of a single one
thats what u get when u invite the dutch
"Look at her!"
You say that like we could ever look away.
I want to do a Happy Birthday collab with you 😂😂😂😂😂
I heard this song at their London concert yesterday and it was phenomenal. Amazing to hear you break down all of the different facets of her voice.
You can see and hear the emotion from Floor so you can tell she's having a blast up there performing that beautiful song.
She's my favourite female singer since the After Forever times.
They have incredible songs too!!!!
Rebecca, you're a character and a half. Loved watching your reaction.
This is EPIC!!! Aaahhhhhh, it's... like... I have no words for it! I love her *-* I love the contrast between the hard guitar and drum sounds and the operatic vocals, it's everything 😍
It really helps with inner pain, feels like letting it all out
Also, why am I watching this at 11:40pm...
Agree 100,000,090,000 percent. His writing is some of the most beautiful, epic, emotionally moving songs......and damn he knowz how to pick vocalists
Truly. Tuomas is a real modern Mozart.
Cheers! x
P.S - I humbly urge you to check out "The Poet and the Pendulum" live at Wembley as well as "The Greatest Show on Earth" live in Tampere, both of these Nightwish songs are INCREDIBLE live and they showcase even more of Floor's impeccable vocal skills! Much like Ghost Love Score, they are on the longer side, with Poet being around 15 minutes, and Greatest Show coming in at around 24 minutes. (And like many others have stated, these songs often tend to be a ways down on the set list, which just adds to Floor's credit even more!)
🎅💟
She does harsh vocals during the chorus of Yours is an Empty Hope also.
@@theCrownofSympathy Oh shit yeah, that's definitely a better example.
Yes, awesome, totally right! AND, yes, Marco is great on his own! There's a UA-cam video about his vocal maturity from the time he was seventeen through I think 2012? It's a long video but does a thorough job of displaying his change over time.
React to The phantom of the opera, nightwish, End of a Era. Please
Seconded. This is one of Tarja's greatest performances
Oh yes, @@tentor8501
I would love to see that.
Indeed! While Floor is a good singer I am disappointed that it wasn't the original artist! I could only imagine her reaction then!
yes please!
She can growl too. Just does not really do it much with Nightwish. It is with past bands she would do it more. Glad to see you cover this one Rebecca. The fans of Nightwish will love it. I have the band as my daily react band right now and the fans are die hard. Including me now too. :)
Don't spoil it. Let her find out herself.
BTW that is so weird to see your comment under someone others reaction video. :D
Hey man what about your promise on the reaction to Star One????
@@palmanbracht9125 It is on my list. I have 1500 + songs on there. It takes time to work to all the requests.
@@x666xIronMaiden just skip other songs and play Star One....believe me
"Yours is an empty hope" is another song she performs very well, and features her growling abilities, as well as further versatility of her voice
Agreed, this song wasn't even written for her.
@@zdenekdolezal9646 Okay, I do see your point. Thanks. And I agree, let's hope they last a good, long time! :)
Noppa the fact that she was able to do this on such short notice is a testament to her dedication, professionalism and skill.
