- Mushoku Tensei usually goes hard, but this new season left a lot of people underwhelmed. It took 12 episodes but Rudeus fixed his broken pp, got a girlfriend, and made some friends. But the true friends were the ones he kidnapped and enslaved along the way.

One of the weirdest changes from the LN that I don't understand. If they didn't have the time to do it properly, then they should of just omitted it. It really wasn't that important.
And Luke defending Rudy's impotence made him one of the best characters in this series in my book. He really said "You getting laid is more important than emergency funds" literally the best wing man in anime history.

We didn’t get any new Roxy but the scene where Rudeus was remembering his final exam and riding on Caravaggio with her was so wholesome I nearly got isekaied myself from a rapid change in blood sugar.

yes the point, which you clearly missed, is that he is HIGHLIGHTING how important sex is for a man (specifically in such a rudimentary society with literally 0 entertainment outside of bars) and that having ED is effectively an absolute nerf. There are, factually, more expectations for the average man during sex than a woman, one of the reasons being that men are usually (not anymore with the decline of society) the people that want the sex, so they put in the most work or are required to check more boxes.@@finlaymatthews5546

Sylphy is the very definition of "Jedi in the streets but Sith in the sheets!" 🤣 Best girl Sylphie has finally cured Rudeus's ED, that last episode brung me tears of joy. Also MVP goes to Luke and Princess for giving the final push that was very much needed and wishing them hapinnes.

Rather than be additional fanservice, I'm glad the Sylphie scenes are all done in a wholesome way and really focuses on the char dev of both characters.

As a LN reader, everything you said was pretty spot on. I felt a little disappointed in season 2 so far, but knowing what comes next makes me so excited for the second cour. I’m not saying it was bad, but definitely wished they added a few more scenes

Yea was kinda hoping theyd go a little harder on the very few fight scenes we got, still amazing though, hopefully we get an ova on eris at the sword sanctum
For it's the reveal scene that made me disappointed. I actually prefer the manga more in that scene in particular.
In the manga, as Rudy starts to strip Fits he is having a Dejavu of a certain scene in his childhood. And the moment he took off her glasses that's when he was hit and cursed himself for not realizing much earlier. For me that scene is the climax of the whole arc. Rather than lewd it came of to me as a emotional reveal since it marked off as the ending of Rudy's ED suffering and Sylphy's cowardice.
In the anime, I didn't feel any of that, the direction didn't do any better as well, it such a bland and plain reveal to me, I'm expecting a emotional road trip since it's their "actual" first reunion after being separated for years.
I wished they added more music like maybe playing the ending theme during the reveal or something or maybe add a bit more expression to rudy after the realization with matching good voice acting.

Rudy really has come a long way, amazing character development this cour. Mushoku Tensei is the only show that manages to weird me out and make me feel uncomfortable, only to make me actually feel emotionally attached to the characters to the point of even shedding a tear for a guy's meat stick working properly again.

This was an incredible ending to the first cour of season 2, I was so happy with Rudeus and Sylphie coming together and curing not just Rudy's ED but his depression too. Speaking of Elinalise, I'm excited for her to meet Sylphie.
No spoilers of course but we should be seeing a lot more of Elinalise next cour, and I'm so excited for it. She's easily one of my favorite characters in the LN. She's so great

Weirdly enough, I binged all the web novel because I wanted to know how Silphy and Rudeus got together. At first I just wanted to read this part but those who read it knows... It was impossible to stop, so I read it all and kinda got depressed because I finished it

Well to be honest with you, in regards to season 2, I’ve never been a fan of grapes, but knowing how freezing things can make them better, I’m willing to look past my biases and give frozen grapes a chance.

I heard that the director and key animators of the first season were lured by another studio. It's sad and expected that the quality will drop. I can’t judge, I don’t know the whole picture of what happened, but I hope that the Bind studio will withstand all the tests and delight us with another masterpiece season.
The director was always going to be loyal to his Idolmaster series. So U-149 took precedence over Season 2 for him. A few of the staff were not at a different studio, but working on Bind's own Onimai.
I love that only a third of this video happened to be about Mushoku Tensei. And it's still great.
There’s so much important stuff in volumes 10, 11, and 12 and I have no idea how they’re gonna fit every big thing into 12 episodes. All I know is that they better do Norn and Rudy’s relationship justice! Personally, I was more emotional over that than I was for everything that happened in and after the Labyrinth.

It’s crazy that you managed to put all my thoughts into a vid. I loved this season too but it definitely felt like the first one was a little better. Not because the lack of action, but to me what makes the show great is it’s world building and character development, it makes the story feel super immersive. I feel like it lack a little depth in the world building department, as it felt like they left certain things out, and even as an anime only it was very evidenr. Im guessing it was due to production issues and whatnot. Anyway, i still enjoyed it quite a lot, I’d give it a 9/10. Oh and eris is best girl, even if she’s like a beast or something lol.

I really enjoyed the way the season started. The north was full of adventure and interesting characters. The magic school was cool but a little bit of a slog. I haven’t read to books but I’m really excited for the second half of this season. I love this anime!

Yeah, after reading the web novel I figured this was going to be a weak season to adapt. Usually in all forms of media major plots of simple character development get scrapped unless its a major scene to captivate the audience or something, but the entire school arc was pretty tame and all of the major scenes were relatively short, such as the battle with Baghdad or the kidnapping scene. The problem with trying to adapt the little scenes is most of them require a lot of context which takes too much screen time. I think they did pretty well however, kinda sucks the OP wasn't unique half way through but its alright, PT 2 is where shit gets hard, and so do I.

The animation as well as the overall production quality for season 1 was very impressive, first part of season 2 was quite good but yeah its noticably lower. I wonder of they might have allocated more funds for cour 2 and had to be more economical for cour 1. And i do agree that the opening beeing this long kinda cut into the overall run time especially after us having opening and ending songs play during episodes in season 1.

What I'm really hoping for out of Mushoku Tensei is an Old Dragon's Tale movie, which if it does end up happening, could come out probably come out as early as after season 3, but if we do ever get it, it would likely be in maybe 8 years, or whenever the series is finished, which should be in about 2 more full seasons and maybe either half a season or 2 movies.

Yeah agree that the adaptation for season 1 was better. They made changes that actually enhanced the story / pacing while season 2 felt more like "how to cut it short without losing the important bits". It's still good though.. just not as masterful as season 1.
YES! No one else got that part about the intro. The way in season 1 integrated the intro into the story was one of my favorite parts and made the story so much more immersive. When they did that it was less like the theme to the show but rather the theme to the world rudy is in itself. I rly hope they bring it back

This was a good character building arc. A good and relaxing calm before the storm. Things really do start to pick up a bit after this. It gets back to a more dark and serious plot. The action ramps up quite a bit. Plus the main antagonist becomes more established as a threat that needs to be dealt with. The 2nd part of this season may not quite get all the way there. But it should at least start to.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Echidnut is peak anime content. Perfect mix of info, comedy, and degeneracy

thing that threw me off was Luke. This man has been at odds with Rudy the whole time but as soon as princess makes fun of his ED that man goes to bat.
I do think that the second season was weirdly nonchalant about slavery, even just compared to the previous season. Consider that Rudeus was seen actively fighting against slavers TWICE in the first season. Second time he unknowingly targeted the wrong side, but the intent is clearly there. Despite having done that, he basically didn't even hesitate when Sylphie suggested buying a slave.
Just couple of sentences of internal monologue could have diverted the weirdness the whole thing, but it's like the writers weren't even thinking about Rudeus' previous engagements with slavery in this world. People would be complaining on twitter either way, but even I felt the way the show presented the scene was kinda wrong.
I want to correct this. THIS is the massive misunderstanding that has created a lot of controversy.

Okay, main thing.
The author, Rifujin na Magonote, stated that this is the world he created, and Rudy just lives in it. Yes, it is "primitive" per say, but that's it, nothing deeper.
Rudy is no hero, he was never designed to be the hero.
He thinks that slavery is wrong, but he understands that this is how the world works.
Rudy also believes that he is not smart enough to decide whether slavery in this world is morally wrong or not, so he has no reason to complain about it. He will not treat slaves poorly, but he will not fight someone for abusing their own slaves.
That's just how it is.
Slavery in Mushoku Tensei was never meant to be controversial, it was just meant to exist.
That's the beauty of Mushoku Tensei to me. It's almost like you're watching a documentary about another world through the eyes of one person
Edit: Slavery was actually portrayed very well in this show. As I said, Rudy will treat his slaves well. However, this show still shows the horrors of slavery. We see abuse, sexual assault, and forced acts of crime. Mushoku Tensei shows slavery with clear eyes. It is just up to us, the viewers, to interpret it
Wouldn't say him fighting slavers in the beast village is actively fighting against slavery. He was protecting them from kidnappers, an illegal form of obtaining slaves. The market he goes to is using legal slaves attained mostly through debt.
Really, it is far more weird to be so dramatic about slavery in settings like this where not only would it be commonplace and accepted; it is genuinely a better outcome than many alternatives the impoverished would be faced with.
I disagree, the fact that there was 0 internal monologue from a man we constantly hear speaking spoke volumes.

I think that the author did this is very good. Like your life there are segments of you life where your go to school for a while. It's pretty realistic.
If you want the same format every season, watch everything else where demon slayer does the same thing every episode

Season 2 was a character development heaven. I cried like a kid when he thanked Sylphie for curing him. Even the small side characters are amazing. Like Luke, Soldat, Elinalise or the beast girls. I understand that the young audience wants dumb actions scenes, but for me this was waaaaay more interesting and fun than the whole Demon-continent arc from S1. Also, best girl is obviously Sylphie. She literally saved him with her love. Okay, Roxy is a REALY close second.... but eeffffff you Erin.
Completely agree... i also enjoyed this arc better than the demon continent one (which was still really good). The characters development was AMAZING and by the end i was so invested into this season that i felt a gripping melancholy when i watched the last episode. Can't wait for cour 2!

Eris best girl so far imo, Sylphie is really cute and loyal but i just like Eris's personality more. Didn't really get the opportunity to get as much of a read on Roxy since i'm not a LN reader and her interactions with Rudy have been kinda limited throughout the story but feel like she's about on par with Sylphie for me.
I read some LN and holy hell. Eris is probably the most entertaining character in the series

It was a nice change of pace, not every season can be action-filled, plus it makes us appreciate the characters all that much more

My honest opinion about Mushoku Tensei Season 2 is:
The season was amazing, but definitely weaker than Season 1.
The story took an strange turn and the events were no longer as exciting or enjoyable as the previous season. And the anime has become some kind of a ' slice of life ' more than an
' adventure '.
I gave Season 1. 9/10. But Season 2 I don't think I can give it more than 8/10.
My rating is still ðe same. 9/10. As much as season 1 had better animation and fights, I prefer ðe story.
Revisit the season after season 3 or 4, and that rating may be higher due to retrospect

Season 2 part 1 was able to connect some cool action with very sensible topics and the sweetest vanilla romance i have seen in a very long time. Loved almost every second of It

As anime only, I was kinda underwhelmed by Rudy vs Badigadi, apparently he got evaporated or some shit, but I couldnt really tell that from what was shown. The scenes surrounding him were actually my only real issue with s2, cause I didnt really know who the fuck he was or where he came from, it seemed so random. Season 1 was more hype, but I dont conflate hype with good writing, note Vinland Saga. This season was really good too. I think I need to see more from Roxy and Sylphy, because Eris is ahead by miles right now, Sylphy wasnt even Sylphy for most of this season actually 🤣. Would like to see more videos from you about this series, also cant wait for the Return of Re:Zero. Liked
