50% chicken breasts (cooked), 25% zucchini, 25% combo of carrots, celery and green beans. The veggies are chopped up finely in the food processor (raw), do the same with the cooked, drained and cooled chicken, mix it all together. Freeze in containers that will hold a day or two of food. Top with a multi vitamin powder or chew and 1/8 teaspoon salmon oil. This recipe is how I got my overweight 8 year old Yorkie down to a healthy weight. You double the serving they would eat of their dry dog food. Hannah had 1/2 cup twice a day of the homemade as opposed to 1/4 cup twice a day of the SD Perfect Weight dry dog food. We went back to SD Perfect Weight for maintenance. It got a bit pricy to feed her the homemade dog food, but I was using all organic ingredients. My measurements were 4 cups chicken, 2 cups zucchini, 2 cups carrots, celery, green beans. At 1 cup per day it was enough for 8 days, though I usually doubled everything and made the dog food every two weeks. It took about a week to ease her into eating the homemade food. Totally worth it as she is now slim, trim and healthy.
My Yorkshire terrier graze feeds food is down all day he is perfectly happy and doesn’t put weight on. He is fed on dry food now 3 old healthy and happy.
Hi. I am writing regarding the homemade food for Yorkies. I would like to know if kale, spinach and broccoli are good items to include as well as carrots. I noticed in your video it says no sweet potatoes or potato, but I found on another site that they said it was OK. I would prefer to air on the side of caution, so I will not feed them those things. But I do know you mention I think rice? What kind of rice is best for the dogs? And also our green beans good what about asparagus? Is there anything besides onions and garlic and the potatoes that are very bad for the dog. I’m very concerned about my dog right now I don’t know what is happening to her. Her fur has gone very listless though. She seems to be sad most of the time she wants to sleep most of the time there’s no fever there’s no diarrhea. I feed her cooked meat right now but I haven’t been feeding vegetables and I realize maybe that’s the issue? I used to give her omega-3 but I ran out. Could that be one of the things as well? She’s about eight years old. I would really appreciate your comments. I’m literally up right now in the middle of the night because I’m trying to find a way to help her. She’s not old enough to go yet in my mind lol I would like to make sure that she’s given the best that she needs. Thank you so very much.
My Yorkie loves sweet potatoes and I sometimes include it in a batch of food. SPECIFICALLY MY EXPERIENCE, I've tried the brown rice and she can eat it once or twice, Im guessing is either the wheat or the fiber content, but she does not tolerate it. White rice (boiled, no salt or oil) however, I just keep for when she is having stomach issues since is very astringent and helps her with diarrhea, it is high in starch and carbs, so IN MY CASE I would not use as every day addition to her home cooked meals. Happy cooking!
What are you even talking about?? Sweet potatoes and yams have high nutritional value for dogs. If you don't know what you're talking about, don't spread misinformation!!
Great vid and Thanks for all information❤

Yes, it is more helpful than the long diatribe!@DogsGenesis
I have heard rice is not good for yorkies because carbs can cause UTI.
