@@ImOldGregg I agree and I have a 2020 tacoma trd. With what these new ones cost id buy an f250 or 2500hd over one of these. You're literally paying more for less with these. they don't have the reliability like the old v6 I'm sure which is the only reason I considered Toyota LOL.
70k. 70k and you don't get useable rear seats, you have no manual transmission (or even paddles) a 4 cylinder and an interior that creaks and rattles. Lol, no. What an absolute heap.
Ever since Toyota said in their recent reveals that they made reliable cars, I realized that maybe they’re cheaping out now and making money off of their reputation for reliability…
My family bought a trd pro 4runner in 2016 for 42k out the door at the dealership. The whole point of the 4runner/tacoma is that they relied very little on electronics, interior was built to be easily cleaned and durabale, and all the mechanical parts were simple and reliable (fuel economy and luxury came second). Toyota has gone against everything I just stated and significant increased the price. This new one should either have been a new model under a different name, or have gone to the land cruiser or some other more expensive model, not the 4runner/tacoma. Edit: also why is there significantly less leg room now.
Journalists need to stop tip-toeing around manufactures feelings and just say it like it is. I'll say it for you... the Ranger Raptor is better in nearly every way and is $10k cheaper.
There's very few actual journalists left. Most media present on yt are glorified brochure readers with little or no willingness to call out criticisms and marketing BS (out of fear of being black listed aka not being provided future cars for review). I don't consider Topher a journalist, but rather an enthusiast, who built his channel around general positivity. I don't look for reviews on here, but rather driving impressions while understanding that some aspects (particularily negative) won't be covered.
@@dawsongranger4940 It's disingenuous to never criticize anything, it's a reason why i don't take any of these people seriously, they're all bought and paid for.

Yeah but the ranger raptor is nothing like the previous gen 4runner. The previous gen 4runner is way more practical of a vehicle than the ranger raptor. You can fit way more stuff in the back of the 4runner with the seats down than the tiny ranger bed. Also the 4runner used to be very limited on electronics, super reliable and affordable.
Bought the Ranger Raptor. It handles great. That's coming from someone who also owns a 992. I love Toyotas; but they have a hard time going in a straight line. Even Trd Pros.
My girlfriend has a new Rav4 as a rental right now and it felt like I was at sea under 50mph even in a straight line. Really nice on the highway and that's it
If you understand why this happens, you would realize that saying "even the trd pro" is counterintuitive as that is the model that you would expect to have the worst of this behavior.

ESPECIALLY knowing this is their smallest truck lmao. might as well just buy a lexus at that price point. i can get a base trim gx for 5k less and thats a 2025..
Thank you for that turning radius test. That was important to see the two point turn, the normal turn, and the giant circle. Edit: I would love to see that same test for the 25 Tundra and the 25 RAM 1500. Also do not miss the paddle shifters. Never used them on any car/truck/van I have ever owned and also do not know anyone who have used them. I would add that I think the sound of the engine might be the best in the mid-sized truck market.
Yeaaa I'd rather have the previous gen Tacoma TRD Pro (with a V6 and in manual) over this. They're been a lot of recalls on these new Tacomas (and Tundras too), involving engine overheating, and even transmission problems (both automatic and manual).
I'm surprised you think the stereo sounds good. To me it sounds quite a bit worse than the one in our 21 Forester. Sounds like everything is coming from the front. Except bass in back obv. Overall it was really disappointing though
Awesome truck (minus the rear seat) but these are priced so far out of reach for the primary target marketing. I'm not just talking about the TRD Pro either. They're all just way to expensive for the size of the vehicle. I own a 3rd generation TRD sport, amazing truck priced pretty reasonably. But now the pricing is just so far out in left field. These things are sitting all over lots here in the Nashville area.
For $70k they couldn’t even include a front locker, trail turn assist, or live valve shocks. Where did the extra money go? It looks cool, but even if it had a plug-in hybrid battery so we got 10-20 miles of electric range the price might have made sense.
I am a person that bought the 6ft bed trailhunter. 76k. yes expensive. but they are fully loaded. 70k tundra isn't loaded i can promise you that. none of you know the market apparently. i sat in a trd off-road Tacoma, the model below these. and I'm not paying 50k for something that don't even have climate control. Thats just how the market is. your looking at 80k 90k for a fully loaded tundra. Yea, you can get a tundra at 65 60k. but there is nothing in it lol.
This truck is awesome but man... the price. I was considering one of these until I got a Tundra SR5 TRD Offroad for $47k. People will still buy the TRD Pro because it's the top trim, but for most buyers (myself included) a lower trim with 4x4 is all that's necessary. After some recent upgrades I've currently spent about $54k total on my Tundra. I just don't see why anyone would spend so much on a midsize pickup when you can buy a full size for the same or less. Sure mine doesn't have as nice of an interior, but it gets the job done 🤷♂ I think the Frontier or Ranger are the way to go if you want a midsize pickup, otherwise I would just suggest people make the jump to a full size pickup. You won't have any regrets later on.
Wait, this 2.4L turbo hybrid is getting the same or worse gas milage than my 2.4L 97 Nissan D21 pick up 5MT with 460,000 miles??? Something just isn't right there.
They are expensive because of all the technology that are put in them, but most people won't care about the off road technology, most would just want a truck

That's how pickup trucks used to be crimp back seating ... Because they was trucks ... You want it back seat room you went bought a car a sedan... If you just get the regular seats you probably manage a inch or two more legroom in the back
Depends on where you live/what you're doing with the truck. If you're overlanding or doing more low speed offroading, the Trailhunter is probably the better option, with good underbody and side protection, front swaybar disconnect, the option for a 6 ft. bed, etc...however the OME shocks won't hold up to long stretches of high-speed off-road driving, like the Fox shocks will in the Ranger Raptor and TRD Pro. For outright fun, Ranger Raptor can't be beat. I've found my RR to have just enough interior room to be used as a family vehicle whereas I doubt you could make that argument for the Tacoma.
Won’t even care if the new 2024 Tacoma broke 😂😂 and that 2.4 liter 4-cylinder sounds horrible , and on the highway sounds like it has the auto zone special modded exhaust
