God this song gives me goosebumps. It's not that complex but it's a real BAND song where everyone comes together with the pieces. More of music like this please.
Just a great sound. So much talent there in one room. Anaïs reminds me a bit of the glorious Mary Margaret O’Hara. But she is totally her own thing as well. Love the brass too!
This is the best musical guest performance of any late show I've ever seen. The honesty and beauty of these musicians in this spot ..I prefer this version over the album 10 fold. Whoever the female vocalist is, she is an absolute treasure 🙏
She's Anais Mitchell, best known as the composer of the magnificent Broadway musical Hadestown, and also a member of the folk band Bonny Light Horseman and an accomplished solo artist.
I agree -- the only other late night music performance I've seen that's almost as good (and it's very different song and performance, but it's so full of life) is Josh Ritter's 'To the Dogs or Whoever'. ua-cam.com/video/3rcUsFatXw4/v-deo.html
It's so great to see Anais Mitchel perform and sound s great. She was born and raised right here in Addison County where I live. the first time I saw here she was a teenage girl playing at the Ripton Coffee House.I bough her first CD at the door and still have it. I knew right then she was headed for greatness and watched her career take off ever since.
I remember getting all the fast travel signs on forza horizon 2 while listening to this music over and over again, this music got linked to cars since then, and I listened to it on my last road trip, legendary🔥
Thank you so much for uploading this live version. It had disappeared from the YT a while ago. This live version is so much better than the studio one. When I first saw it on the Colbert show, I thought it was an interesting song. Next day I found myself humming this song, and I had to find it on the Colbert's YT channel, and I watched it about a dozen times in a row. Anais and the drummer are having the most fun here. The guitar guy in the middle by the end of the song realizes that they've got something great, once-in-a-lifetime, going on. "That was so beautiful", indeed. It's a real pleasure to watch this song. Anais shines and sparkles and makes it all beautiful. I don't know why, but this performance of the song gives me the vibes of Poco - Rose of Cimmaron. I did not realize at the time that some of the folks here wrote "White winter hymnal", a song that I liked when I first heard it, and I heard it only a few times, but boy did it stuck, I have been humming it ever since from time to time, sometimes to the annoyance of those close to me, but what can I do, it comes as natural as breathing to me.
I also missed this song very much when it disappeared from UA-cam, but fortunately I had downloaded this long back. So I uploaded the song. It's an amazing song❤️.

Her name is Anaïs Mitchell. She wrote an incredibly beautiful and successful Broadway show called Hadestown. Check it out.

Her name is Anais Mitchell, and everything she touches is gold

What a beautiful performance of a beautiful song. THIS is what you call a supergroup! Robin, Anais, and the BRM--love them all.

On the studio version, yes. Just not on this performance.
Good lord she’s cute

Obviously I would prefer Robin sing the whole chorus/song
I love how they blend and share the two choruses.
some are so delusional

She should try and sing better. It's not her key tbf
Great Collab, beautiful song.
