If you told 14-year old me back in 2011 that Fleet Foxes and Justin Vernon would be on a song together, I would’ve been like “Shut the fuck up!” Yet here we are.
@flerb Robin Pecknold is the lead singer of Fleet Foxes, another great indie band. Check out their songs Mykonos, Helplessness Blues, and White Winter Hymnal!
For all the people thanking Taylor for the introduction...it was her collaborations with Justin and Aaron and even Jack that got me listening to Taylor at all. It's awesome how the collabs worked both ways.
When I first heard this song, I couldn't get it out of my head. I played it over and over. Robin has such a mellifluous voice, and Anais just put the cherry on top. Just beautiful!
Robin has the most articulate singing voice ever. His enunciation is absolutely incredible. Recommend the live from Boston they've uploaded to their UA-cam channel, I seriously prefer his voice there over several of the studio versions.
I am a native-born Phoenician and a huge Fleet Foxes/Bon Iver fan. I just saw FF in concert at the Arizona Federal Theater and they preformed this song. I always felt our city never got enough shout outs in songs, but then this gem came along. I am honored our city inspired such a unique hit.
This is like The National, Bon Iver, and Fleet Foxes all mixed into one, fucking incredible!! Edit, for those responding: It's not "literally" that. This isn't the full The National band and the full Fleet Foxes band + Bon Iver all playing together in one big group.
This is the combo Spotify Statistics built. Had all these artists on MP3 before streaming, beginning with Mitchel in 2004 with One Good Thing, and then Vernon when For Emma came out, then I got Fleet Foxes on vinyl with the download. Then my hard drive started to die and my record collection started its own dust collection, but I ported the playlists I had from my mp3s over to Spotify as soon as I could many many years ago. So, these folks have been woven algorithmically together for a very long time in the primordial data pool, not just from me, but from every other Paste or Pitchfork reader from our time. I have no idea how these people know each other in real life, but they’ve known each other for a long time in my music mind. Our generation made Facebook is what I mean.
Very true bro. I was a pirate who also bought music. We made these bands. But gen z will take all the credit. Being a music fan was actually a hobbie and alot of work. Pirate the music...see thr live...buy merch...rinse watch repeat
I have a feeling i’m gonna love the album already, i like this and all these lead singles so far Congratulations and Thank you for good music Big red machine
I saw a Fleet Foxes show in Grand Rapids and they played this song. I would have to call it a cover song on their part because the song tonally sticks out from them rest of their catalogue but I'm glad they played it.
LOVE this combination. Justin just has a way of bridging the gaps. Bringing in Fleet foxes and Anais Mitchell=Brilliant. I cannot get enough of this Album. Beautiful lyrics.
Wow. From the very beginning this song played tricks on my mind. Sounds like an old song from the 60s. Love the effects used. The visual art. The lyrics and relaxed pacing throughout. Good stuff!
The National has been my #1 for a decade and a half, and it's really cool that they're getting the attention they deserve. Makes me happy to know that they were her favorite too. Keep in mind that there is so much amazing music just under the radar and has been for years so feel free to check out these bands that Taylor has been a fan of, and follow the rabbit hole down all the artists they've all collaborated with. The National, Bon Iver, Big Red Machine, Fleet Foxes etc. is a great start. You'll be glad that you did.
As someone who loves Bon Iver, The National, Fleet Foxes, and Hadestown, I AM FREAKING OUT OVER THIS COLLABORATION
Same. Amazing! Tears of joy
This reminds me so much of The Band 🤘😏✌ one of my faves from Big Red Machine 💑💑
Its CRAZY, right?!?!?!
If you told 14-year old me back in 2011 that Fleet Foxes and Justin Vernon would be on a song together, I would’ve been like “Shut the fuck up!”
Yet here we are.
Feels! I also just shared this with my boss! Career limiting move or career empowering move?! Watch this space…
Robin Pecknold seriously has one of the warmest voices I've ever heard
The male Karen Carpenter? Not quite.
Robin and Justin are singing together...one of my dreams came true...
I still can't believe it. ❤

Fleet Foxes is a breath of fresh air every damn time.

Agree, and check out the rendition done by them on the Colbert show. Its cool to watch Anais emote as she sings it
Amazing. Incredible. Magical. Heavenly.
I'm pretty sure there's never been a song written that is more beautiful than this.

Robin's voice + Justin's voice ... heavenly
Big Red Machine is the most aesthetically pleasing band

Robin Pecknold my beloved

Just recently discovered and now im looking for any excuse to play it
I’m just here for Robin’s voice ❤️
Robin's voice in this masterpiece brings me to tears. I had this track on solo repeat all day.
Thank you all of you, crying, smilling and singing

And what's your point ?
Has the horns from Fleet Foxes, and sounds like it came straight off their most recent album.
Feels like I'm back in the 70`s and I like that. Smooth tune right here.
You can feel your soul healing I swear
Agree!
The best song released by any music artist in 2021 thus far. Beyond Incredible!
Who would have thought four of the most ingenious songwriters of the 21st Century could come together and make an instant classic? Anyone, I guess
Thanks for existing
Fell in love with this song in a split second. Glorious.
The beginning has "dorothea" vibes and I'm here for it! 🤭😍
Exactly!
Yeah 🤩
Well spotted! They used the inspiration well.
@@gerstaunton5147 well dorothea was initially intended for this album
The comment I was looking for 🤭🤭
Big shout to the drummer. Really creative playing mate 👍
Oh, more Justin Vernon and Anais Mitchell singing in tandem, please. Their voices are just perfect together.
Listen to the Hadestown concept album if you haven't - he sings Orpheus to her Eurydice!
A true beauty

Beautiful song. Great use of pianos and horns. Sounds like a modern take on 70s rock ballads.

Petit commentaire d'un frenchy😉. Merci. Merci à France Inter pour ses programmations qui me font découvrir des pépites. Super cool.
Tremendous!
INSTANTLY loved it!!
Let's support BRM the way we supported Evermore/folklore which they contributed a lot. I mean, A LOT
I can`t stop listen. Seriously.
Wow. From the very beginning this song played tricks on my mind. Sounds like an old song from the 60s. Love the effects used. The visual art. The lyrics and relaxed pacing throughout. Good stuff!

I’m loving each track more and more I think!
The best song writing in so long all in one album 💙💙💙💫
I feel like I'm missing my mind. When the song transitions from Robin's part to Justin's my brain short-circuits, it's so good. This is song crack.
I am enchanted by this beautiful piece... Past life flash backs ... meloncholy
I know them because of taylor but i stay because of their wonderful music
Oh my God, can we be friends?

I was at The Late Show in the seats. First time I heard this band. They're fantastic!
First time i heard this song was while watching that particular show. Awesomely beautiful song!
Very easy on the ears 💯 "I was trying to find my way, I was thinkin' my mind was made, but you were making my heart change shape" Insanely good song
Each one of these songs feels like it could be in the opening shots of a show like Charmed on the really emotional episodes and I LOVEEE
Best track on the new album.
