This is really amazingly good. It's the first time I've distinctly heard the bass line in FF music. Being a bass player this is a nice change. Also, he uses a pick; as a lifetime pick user this is another strong plus. There's something about this performance and venue and mix that is really putting the band's best talents in the spot light. Might made a great "live album".
I love them so much! So "normal" in a positive sense, not the "everything sucks"-attitudes. So much a r t. Great chords, changes, deepth. Hard to find elsewhere.
jvonna T It's the third verse that comes after the "In the morning washing off my name from your throat" part. It was added to the song during the Helplessness Blues tour, but the lyrics changed since then
deepblueday ***Welllll.... the short answer is yes the long answer is that the melodies he writes CAN BE challenging, but on selected nights he's brilliant at the mic. other nights, well, he's human and has human moments. I've watched a video of their performance from Sydney several years ago where he blew the doors of Mykonos and a few other songs.
Robin naturally sings loudly, and muscles onto the right notes, giving them an amazing controlled intensity like in the chorus of Fools Errand or White Winter Hymnal. Here he sounds like he roughed up his voice at a recent show, and is trying to sing softer. Even his speaking voice sounds scratchy and on edge of breaking if you go and listen to other live recordings. It can be really hard for people who naturally sing loudly to switch to singing softly and still hit every note, especially with a sore throat.
this is a new youtube name There is a safe method to push notes and a destructive way. He is doing the latter and pushing too much air over his vocal chords. Most likely from not properly warming up and not having himself turned up loud enough in monitoring mix. I hope he finds a vocal coach that knows what they are doing!! I love Robin’s voice, but I hope he doesn’t destroy it.
of the times i've seen them live and all the videos i've watched of them...this is uncharacteristically out of tune for him... maybe nervous after getting the band back together after so long?? this is probably the worst ive heard him sound in the entirety of their career.
One of the best live experience available. Take advantage.

Godamnit Robin stop missing the notes
54:51 - 55:30 i got some ambient there.
27:24
Although he has a great voice, i think the bassist voice should be a bit lower, or robin's voice a bit higher.
Ps: what a great band
man, that girl at 30:46 is definitely on acid and having the time of her life.
Wtf Robin???????????!!!!??
bad mix. bad lighting.
shame. but thanks for the upload nonetheless
.
Live, does Robin always sing this out of tune? I love Fleet Foxes and can't even listen to this!

I was quite surprised how far off he was, too. When I saw them live in September, Robin absolutely killed it.
